He's proved he is capable in all positions, down the left hand side. £12m....hard to judge in today's market tbh. Were hoping that he will be played LW as we lack any serious pace or someone who can get balls in for Rondon to finish. Berahino will be off to Stoke (cracking player but an absolute bell of bloke)...if by some act of god we managed to attract Benteke as reports will have us believe then we need good wingers who can create. Shocked you may be letting him go though thought with Champs League you would need a strong squad to keep competing on all fronts this year

Shame tho.

The fact that he broke into the first team as a striker/winger, but was willing, (and able), to convert to a FB/WB in order to further his chances here says a lot. Yes....he can appear to have 'headless chicken' attributes at times, but his defensive capabilities are surprisingly decent and, as an 'impact' sub he really can be effective. Has endeared himself to most here and many of us would be genuinely sad to see him leave. That said, the signings of Musa and Kapustka, plus the continued emergence of Chilwell seems to have stalled his emergence here! No disrespect intended, but I would imagine Schlupp has more prospect of a regular starting spot at the Hawthorns than he does here at the moment. At £10-12m he could, long term, prove to be a really shrewd signing! None taken, after the season you had and the season you have coming up we are polar opposites right now. Its good to see a player though that wants regular football rather than sitting on the bench stealing a wage. Its probably the reason why you are letting him go, its a good fee and like you say you have a few others who can already replace him or are coming through. Chilwell has probably been promised the chance to play this year so it makes sense

Dan Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Better players have gone for less. In-fact I'd argue we've probably signed two better players in his position for less combined than we're going to get for him. But I will miss him. It sounds ridiculous but he was an entertainer. I genuinely enjoyed the laughs I got out of him. The fact he was actually quite a dangerous player went very nicely alongside that. He cost us a few times at left back but on the wing it was generally a case of blowing chances when we were already ahead and I can laugh that off. The way he did it was brilliant. I'll miss Jeff, never really known anyone quite like him.
Fox92 Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Squad player at best. I'd have kept him for versatility though.
TMELcfc Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Be gutted to see him leave, one of few to come through the youth ranks. Crap at defending but beats people with ease as a left winger. However as soon as Kaputska was announced I knew this would be on the cards.
Realist Guy In The Room Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Someone post the Everton miss please.
Daz93 Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Anyone reckon the Liam Moore situation has anything to do with this? I know they're both good mates. Feel a bit sad that either of them would leave, with them breaking through from youth.
RUDZY Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 BIG MISTAKE if Jeff Schlupp is allowed to leave the club. Watch the BAGGIES shoot up the table with Jeff on board. HMMMMM
Devonfox1884 Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 On the face of it, covering Kaputska's fee plus another 5 million for Jeff is great business - especially if the reported figures of his wages are true. I will however miss him, he's given us some great moments and laughs. A product of the youth academy, he has always given his all and shown a genuine love for the club and its fans. I'm sure I speak for the majority of us in wishing him good luck, and I hope that if he does go, he will get a good reception upon his return with West Brom.

Chilwell has probably been promised the chance to play this year so it makes sense Schlupp has lightening pace and a good cross, but can be a wayward finisher. He is built like a tank and can play through players. As Left back he does sometimes fall asleep. He was the main culprit for letting the cross in that ManU scored from last Sunday. He is not clinical enough to be a striker but is a very effective winger or wingback in a 352. He has played reasonably well in midfield too. I would be sorry to see him go.

HighPeakFox Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 I am always excited to see him on the ball, a lot of the 'Jeff is thick and talentless' stuff is so much people confirming each others' perceptions, rather than being objective. I'll be very sorry if he leaves...
adam Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 As much as I've slagged Jeff off, he is useful to bring on when your looking for a goal .He causes absolute carnage . Frustrating carnage mind!
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Underrated, and do not think we are in the position to sell. If he wants to move on then fair enough, but if he's been told he can go I just find it surprising as I thought Claudio was going to continue to utilise him as he did last season. Not a regular starter but can change a game with his pace. It's that regular game time which is the leading cause of this proposed deal I think. At his age I suppose you would want to play more.
Spudulike Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 To be fair, I think that we owe West Brom for getting into the Spuds heads in that 1-1. Good luck, Jeff. Deserves a warm welcome on his return.
