hornyhollthefox123 Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Only way I'll accept it is if Jeff has said he wants to leave to play every week. Otherwise it makes no sense at all. We don't need £12m. It's irrelevant as we've barely any excess net spend as it is. Will be really disappointed if he goes. Took a while to warm to him over the years but for me a very valuable member of the squad.
EnglishOxide Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 I didn't even know squads were announced on days before matches? If we let him leave I will be very pissed off. He is our most athletic player who adds something the other wingers don't. We've got nobody else to powerhouse their way to the byline. What's more, if we sell him and Mahrez decides to push for a move we are left with only Albrighton, Kapustka and Gray!
Vestan Pance Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Absolute 100%er is Jeff. Be really sad to see him go, always great to watch and always does the unexpected.
Lcfc_lass10 Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Sunderland away when we stayed up, Jeff didn't even realise. Classic Jeff moment
Livid Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 It's not bad business in comparison to what we got Musa for. 100% team player whose direct pace just scared the opposition. His final ball or shot was often erratic but I'll miss him if he goes. I actually thought he had he had improved considerably last season.
tetly Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 One of my favourite players, gutted him and Liam are possibly leaving us. Like King they are part of our identity lcfc through and through. I would love all three to stay.
Nick Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 He's an impact player for us who will not make the first team as a starter. Sad but true, so I'll keep him if he's happy to play that role in the squad, if he wants more football he should go get it. Shame.
CloudFox Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Please say there's nothing concrete to this...he's been with us since well before this whole journey began, and he will be missed if he goes

I'm sure if you only counted the games were he was playing on the wing it would be a much fairer comparison. I've also got eyes and he can't cross or shoot for shit. I like Jeff as he's unpredictable, but his end product is woeful considering the positions his pace and power gets him into.

You can't say he's not effective though for us surely As a couple have said above if he goes we lose a huge amount of strength and power going forward in the last 30 minutes of games. None of our other wide players will outmuscle a defender or get to the byline. From his perspective I guess potentially being guaranteed first team football starting every week and getting an increase in wages makes it difficult and I can understand if he personally wants to go. If he doesn't though and is happy to be a squad player the I'd reject £12m in the blink of a eye.

He now gets payed well so he wont cross, or shoot for shit, he will be doing it for real money..

He did improve but it certainly wasn't considerably and that's the problem with him. He's been in and around the first team for nearly 5 years and he's not a first 11 player and its still debatable what his best position is. There's been nowhere near the amount of improvement necessary considering the amount of time he's been around.
fazzyfox Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 His place on the bench was / is at risk, whilst he offers options as a left back, left wing or centre forward he is probably behind Chilwell now as well as Fuchs at Left back, 3-5 others incl Mousa as a winger and unless we're chasing a game with a front three I can't see him featuring as a centre forward. On the other hand, we know his presence on the pitch works for us, whereas signings can be a gamble he isn't, we know what he can do and what he has. What he can do and what he has is significant and that's reflected in the fee. I trust the club to use the fee and salary saving well but it's a tough one, as a sometime left back he / we benefitted from this when he played as a winger as his defensive discipline and ability was better than most left wingers and as an attacking threat his pace is an asset (there's just that strange thing that kicks in when decision making is required). Twelve million for someone who may not make our bench vs twelve million for someone we know can make a positive contribution, it's a difficult one.
Hitesh Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 What I find strange about this if he does leave is that we don't have a big squad and CR has mentioned this a few times. Unless we have a replacement waiting in the wings...

If it's so bad why does he have a better goal to game ratio (possibly assist aswell) than Albrighton on the wing last season?
GeorgeTheFox Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Doesn't he count as a homegrown player for the champions league? Also we don't have many academy graduates... We should keep those who have made it imo. Actually more upset over this than Kante
hackneyfox Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 8 hours ago, Grewks said: Can't believe we're looking at selling Schlupp, but fair play to him, if Albrighton, a winger with no ability to beat a man, is considered ahead of him, i'd want to leave aswell. Schlupp should be our 1st/2nd choice left mid, 1st choice 352 wing back and can do a job up top. 8 hours ago, Grewks said: Disagree with that. The fact 'he can play' left wing, left back and up top shows he has quite a bit of general football understanding we don't give him credit for. I said our pace is overrated against the top side....not those in our average league. 6 hours ago, Jimmy said: he looks a really good prospect as a winger and having him means we can cover several positions with just 1 player in a match squad which is always useful 3 hours ago, FoxinNotts said: £12m, yep take that. But I did like the option of Schlupp and Amartey warming our bench, as they both are essentially utility players, who can do a quality job in numerous positions, with bags of energy. It will be a lost option. It's beyond me how anyone can believe he's a quality left back or striker, he's beyond poor in both positions. 1 hour ago, Dan LCFC said: Better players have gone for less. In-fact I'd argue we've probably signed two better players in his position for less combined than we're going to get for him. But I will miss him. It sounds ridiculous but he was an entertainer. I genuinely enjoyed the laughs I got out of him. The fact he was actually quite a dangerous player went very nicely alongside that. He cost us a few times at left back but on the wing it was generally a case of blowing chances when we were already ahead and I can laugh that off. The way he did it was brilliant. I'll miss Jeff, never really known anyone quite like him. Sums him up perfectly, people remember the errors more than the moments of skill. We all know why. 59 minutes ago, Babylon said: I've also got eyes and he can't cross or shoot for shit. WigstonWanderer Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 He looked great against Barca. i think we'll regret this.

Matt Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Loan is the best option I think. With a recall option. We don't need to sell, we don't need the money.
