He did improve but it certainly wasn't considerably and that's the problem with him.

He's been in and around the first team for nearly 5 years and he's not a  first 11 player and its still debatable what his best position is.

There's been nowhere near the amount of improvement necessary considering the amount of time he's been around.

I would argue he's improved incredibly considering I was wondering how the fk he made into our championship winning team and the next thing I barely batted an eye lid when he's playing in a team that won the league. And no doubting left wing is his best position but as countless people have said, his end product is hilariously erratic.

Those goals kinda go against all the 'no end product' comments. Jeffs very direct and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being a competent Championship level striker one day. I think his best days are ahead of him and I'll be sad if he leaves us.

Must be forced from Jeffs end. I must admit I'll be dissapointed, despite him being horribly inconsistent he is a useful weapon to have. If he could learn to use his noggin he would be lethal, but I guess that's what holds him back. He will be missed.

so do you think we will be back in the championship "one day"?

Loan is the best option I think. With a recall option.

We don't need to sell, we don't need the money.

What good will loaning him out do to us? He's 24 at Christmas with 131 games under his belt in his career.

As for "we don't need the money"? We ALWAYS need the money, it's great business to sell squad players who might even struggle to get on the bench let alone the team.

Musa is two months older and cost £5m more and he can play Jeff's role on the left or be an adequate replacement or partner for Vardy.

Kapustka and Gray cost similar to Jeff and they're two of the most exciting young players in Europe and both have far more potential and can do a job if asked. The jury is out on Kapustka until we've seen more of him but I'd have Gray slightly ahead of Jeff and Gray is only getting better from here.

I just think this is great business by us to sell a player who was borderline substitute for good money and allow Gray and Kapustka an easier passage to the bench and more playing time. With talented teenagers like that I don't want to see them stifled but allowed to progress. I loved Jeff as a member of our squad but  i don't let emotions get into it when we decided a certain fee for a loved player is good business, as far as I'm concerned the club always comes first and should always do the right thing which they have in this case.

I just don't like seeing any of our players going to other premier league clubs.

Have a word with Barca, if they're not interested I'm afraid Jeff will have to take up cricket.

Selling on such players can keep the team atmosphere up. We only have 11 players on the pitch, so when someone comes in, someone else goes on the bench or worse.

It is risky holding players hostage as it puts off other signings. I am concerned that the Mahrez story is doing this too.

£12 million is a pretty good price (and it is an Afcon year) for a squad player.

I think we probably will be at some point. Not for a few years though.

I'm guessing this is a joke?

Hes already an established PL player worth 14million quid

He's a useful squad player, but no more. I guess if he wants gaurunteed starts it makes sense for him to leave.

Will be be sad to see him go, but it won't be the end of the world for us.

Looks like Schlupp will be going then. I think a loan would be the best move for everyone.

He clearly loves it here and we still want him to stay, but can't offer him a starting place each week.

We don't need the money really and at his age, he could still develop into a better player, so give him a season long loan to WBA. Sorted.

West Brom have just secured a win against us. Schluup hatttrick. He'll terrorize Simpson.

Posted

We're going to miss his predictable unpredictability, I'll be really sorry if he does go, but I can understand it if he has a desire to play first team football every week. Still don't think 11-12 million is enough in today's market.

Good luck to him if he does go, it's a different scenario to that by which "Le Rat" left us.

For gods sake someone put him on a training program to sort out his shooting, crossing and decision making them play him as a striker/winger

The bloke still has so much progression in him if he's played, I do not want to see him go to someone like west brom and thrive.

Jeff is nowhere near his peak.

your joking Schlupp will come back here thinking he's playing for us again. The baggies will be 3 down before they can substitute him.

It's woeful at times I agree but it's so hard to predict. You can't say he's not effective though for us surely

As a couple have said above if he goes we lose a huge amount of strength and power going forward in the last 30 minutes of games.

None of our other wide players will  outmuscle a defender or get to the byline.

From his perspective I guess potentially being guaranteed first team football starting every week and getting an increase in wages makes it difficult and I can understand if he personally wants to go.

If he doesn't though and is happy to be a squad player the I'd reject £12m in the blink of a eye.

I like Jeff and what he can bring to the table, I've already said I wouldn't sell, I'm just not going to sugar coat it and pretend there aren't big issues with his game.

I'm not sure about the people saying "oh well we have Gray and Kaputska now".

Both look great talents but both are also teenagers who haven't started a competitive game for us yet. Schlupp has featured in nearly every game for a title winning team and by the way, isn't exactly old himself. Don't sell.

It's a YouTube video of just his best bits, compile one of all the great positions he gets into and wastes, one on ones blazed out of the stadium etc and it'll paint another picture.

His pace gives you an out ball, he's great at gaining you ground and his link up play is alright. He's always lacked composure and that's what causes issues when he gets final third.
