Houdini Logic Posted 28 August 2016 Posted 28 August 2016 Anyone know the reason for Vardy's goal celebration? Edit: why can I see someone saying 'because he scored a goal'

Amartey wins it off Routledge and then the quick one-touch play to set up between Drinkwater, Mahrez and Amartey himself is perfect to set up the assist. Glad so many players went to Dan after the goal, played a massive part.

Showed a real sense of team spirit and for Amartey to keep up with Routledge...shows he's quick cos Routledge is rapid.
Guest Col city fan Posted 28 August 2016 Posted 28 August 2016 Vardy's celebration... He loves to wind up the opposition. I can only think they'd been taunting him or summat before the goal, but it's clear why he did it. He was piss taking.
Guest Col city fan Posted 28 August 2016 Posted 28 August 2016 Anyone think Leroy Fer looked half decent? Big, strong, took his goal well. He didn't half drift in and out the game though..maybe that's his problem...able player but just not commanding enough. He was better than Gylfi on the day though.. I'm not surprised he was subbed..couldn't shoot for shite yesterday.

The rest of them are nothing special and go in and out of games themselves as well. So it says a lot when Sigurdsson does the same and no-one else (other than Fer) can up their game for the team.

Not sure why Musa shot so early when he was through. Defender wasn't getting close to him. A soaked pitch slows the dribbler down more than the defender, it holds the ball up making it more of an effort to push it forward. Had it been dry he'd have kept going like he did against Barcelona but the rain made it very awkward. As it was I don't think he could have been sure of getting a shot away if he'd tried to get closer.

Love that about Vardy though- thick skinned and can take the abuse, but he'll make sure he dishes it out if he gets the chance! Opposition fans must hate him.

Blue ROI Posted 28 August 2016 Posted 28 August 2016 Didnt get to watch this live but great to get the win. We've started to expect more wins now but lets not forget that 18 months ago we were crying out for a league win of any sort.No matter who its against or whats happened recently a league win is something never to be taken for granted and is always to be cherised. Pleased that Amertey is getting such rave reviews and drinkwater has been our best player so far. Vardy doesn't look as fast as he did last year but he scored so that might settle him. A most exciting and crucial month in our history awaits us. Hopefully our club, players and supporters are up to the task. Come on you boys in blue.
RUDZY Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 Well Played City - let's keep this going. Welcome Break time to re-group and re-energize. International Players hopefully stay injury free. KEEP THE FAITH!
smr Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 My lads first game, he's only 5 so he was a bit overwhelmed but you shoulda seen his face when I lifted him up on my shoulder and he saw the atmosphere and the Then Now and Forever flag amidst the chanting fans in the Union FS corner singing "Oh when the Blues..." (we were in G2).. I got goosebumps. Amazing, took me back to my first game at Filbo and all the memories going with my Dad when I was a youngster.
Countryfox Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 It amuses me, but at the same time is quite irritating that some people still think Leicester have a 'hoof it up the pitch' style ..... The quote in the Telegraph today was good though ... "Vardy's 50th goal for Leicester was brilliantly taken just after the half hour, racing onto Drinkwater's sublime pass which dissected the Swansea defence" .... Still if the previous England manager couldn't see it what chance mere mortals !

There's nothing quite like walking up those stairs and seeing the Pitch for the first time, stay with you forever. Enjoy the Season my friend.

Dunno though, Musa makes silly basic errors so it wouldn't surprise me to see him do something similar even in dry conditions. (Not a dig at Musa I like him)

Edit: why can I see someone saying 'because he scored a goal' I think it may be that they were giving him some stick at the Liberty last December when he was going for scoring in 12 consecutive games. He did everything but score including hitting the side netting. They cheered the fact that he'd missed and he gave them the 3 - 0 sign. Top bloke.
brucey Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 Vardy said in a post match interview in the Mercury that they had been chanting at him about Iceland for half an hour
foxy boxing Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 it was a game we should have won comfortably but we made it hard for ourselves like we always seem to do sometimes, we need to stick our chances away and not let the opposition back into the game by giving away sloppy goals, the players need to be switched on at all times, penalties are missed and penalties are scored but whoever takes the penalties should just try getting the ball into the net and nothing else.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 Just rewatched our first goal v Swansea, I think that could be goal of the month. Started by Amartey winning possession, lays it to Drinkwater, Drinkwater over the top to Vardy and then Vardy's finish to round it off. It isn't what you'd call a 'wordie' but certainly a classy team goal.
