Guest CityFan 06 Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 Thought Zieler was very good again tonight, made some excellent saves. Okazaki, Gray and Ulloa also promising. Great for Okazaki getting a brace who was superb I thought. Great assist from King for Shinji's first goal, good vision where he could of took the alternative option to shoot. Disappointing result but Chelsea had moments of real class tonight.

Schlupp looked clueless and musa and King looked bang average. Drinky Simpson zieler and Morgan were fine but I do wonder how they will fair come the weekend with fatigue. Onwards and upwards it was just one of them nights Exactly all those expecting to start on Saturday looked good thankfully... but this does add question marks over those on the fringe and just how long we can last playing Saturday and then a Tuesday Wednesday...

Well I suppose if the don wanted to see how good or bad the fringe players were he now knows. Time to strengthen in Jan

It's the league cup ffs we'll be over it tomorrow. Yes and again yes.. What nobody as mentioned..We with 90% Fringe outfield players. A top squad of 1 to 15 players, with only 1-2 permatations, Unfortunately drawn for our 1st game Chelsea, whos squad have their top 18 players as World class, possible to play at an High level with possible 3-6 permatations. Our fringe players were tested for the 1st time as a group, including DD who may well have been asked to hold back a little. Claudio would of looked at /for other reasons, would of made his choice of changes. A back four of Hernandez Wasi Benny Chilli, would of been a real slaughter, game-time/fitness being the main reason. Claudio I suppose wanted Simpson, DD, Morgan to give the set up some 1st team support. Again this chelsea team and squad players arecreally WC players with routine, we are still building, where our fringe Players in our case are at present a mixed bunch, not yet up to playing together as a group, but at present can only be introduced individually or 1-3 maximum. I still believe our 1st choice players from 1-14, can still win against a team/squad like Chelsea at home. In the big picture for this season, this game saw Chelsea regain their mojo. Thst said we seem to have the measure of them, until their gifted 1st goal then the Wasi Red. I do want to see Ranieri get Benny INVOLVED now!!! My hero and POS 2 seasons ago, maywell have really lost it.. Wasi was below poor tonight.Though Morgan and Fuchs had poor games against Hull (not Chelsea). He still might have something to offer from subs bench, and one game cover. We need Benny to be on the bench more, we dont have cover possibilities until January.., Amartey is being groomed as a midfielder, we shouldnt spoil it by forcing him to a utility player this season.Only in real emergency. Unlike Chelsea, at this level we couldnt cope with a 4-6 player change, we have a good squad where as mentioned, that can take the fringe players as 1-2 exchanges into the 1st Team.Slowly slowly has been shown tonight as the right path. We were never going to spend like Chelsea or Man city, but like many I was suprised another young CB was not added. Against losing today and enabling Players like Wes to have a rest, should we have accepted we would be paying between 19-25 mill out. Bad Karma getting Chelsea, just when we needed a platform to give these young n fringe players game time. Dont forget the opinions/views from the terraces will not match Ranieris thoughts on what he wants to see and try especially on tonights subs.Though I do believe Wasi's Red, blew appart some of Claudios substitute plans.

Watched a different Zieler to me. At fault for the 4th at least. Made a good couple of saves but was generally hesitant off his line and didn't have the passing inventiveness of Kasper. Thought he was pretty average. Gray looked good. He was the standout 'squad' player imo. Schlupp did well initially but faded. Shinji obvs with the brace did well but he also made some poor decisions when in great positions with the ball. Chilwell, Was and King were pretty poor and Musa wasn't much better imo.
Sleepy Fox Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 Not bothered, just the league cup. We have enough fixtures to deal with with UCL and PL.
ozvaldo Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 If Drinkwater goes back to Utd in January, we'll be fûcked. If Andy King ends up starting all our games from Jan onwards, I'll have to relocate myself to Welford Road. He is such a nothing player.
adejo92 Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 So i am going to give my overall honest opinion on tonight in general, My Opinion! We went 2-0 and i feel that was because Chelsea hadn't woke up rather than Leicester playing amazing. Great for Okazaki to bag 2 goals but i am sure Chelsea will be scratching their heads tomorrow wondering how they let either of the goals in. 2-2, one good header by Cahill leading to Luiz's goal and an absolute cracker from Azpiliqueta (however you spell it). The second it went to 2-2 Leicester may aswell have gone home. I dont think a single player had any fight until Vardy came on. Every single player looked beaten already. Going on to loose was inevitable with the performance Leicester put on. Best player was probably Zieler and he conceded 4 goals, whats that tell you! Yes Musa had a good chance, and yes King missed a chance that was actually harder to miss than it was to score. Chelsea also missed a number of chances and treated extra time as an additional training match. Still, every team has their good and bad days. Unfortunatly Chelsea were the better team in the end and deserved to progress. Have to say, Chelsea fans were the most vocal for a while. Onwards and upwards for Man Utd.
Dan Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 Retract my comment about Morgan playing well. Awful for the first goal. Harsh but that's the nature of being a defender. The defending for their 4th was absolutely terrible.
fuchsntf Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 In jumping on Wasi's , Chilli's and then Schlupps back, few noticed or forgotten to mention our captain Wes, wasnt too brilliant either.... Credit tho to Chelsea the last 10 minutes of first half, and the whole of the 2nd half were exceptional, their moves were esquisite and flawless, you can dislike some of their players and their antics, but like Suarez of Barca, they are brilliant. If Costa left his stupid non football antics to off the field, he is a really top player, and could do even more damage. And even with our negative thoughts, cos we lost...These fringe players could of nicked it, and were part of a great game..On TV or the terraces you got your moneys worth..
Reg Vardy Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 Pedro has won three European cups, says it all really....we played half a side, no Kasper, Albrighton, Huth, Mahrez, Vardy, Fuchs, Amartey, Slimani....8 first team regulars...did OK, Gray good, Chilwell decent, Musa worked hard....decent first half...why we expect 8 players to come in and play like a team immediately is beyond me...
Howard99 Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 Musa should never have been taken off, he needs a goal and deserves a full 90 mins /120.
The Doctor Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 Only just got home - disappointing. Better side first half but switched off too early, and good as he was the rest of the night musa has to shoulder some of the blame for a stupid flick when the clock should have been being run down. Not sure on the Wasyl red, people talking like he punched Costa, from sk1 there wasn't much in it you could see. If he did then it's utterly stupid, but anyone pretending that he's a liability and always has been as a result needs to pull their head out their arse and remember the past three years. Grey was good, caused no end of problems for the left back and should have had a penalty no doubt around the hour, clearly tripped (summed up the refs night tbf, seemed like it should have been a foul on Zieler for the fourth but also never really had control over the game), but good as he was Schlupp was diabolical, just not involved. Ranieri - right from the start, half time our lead was well deserved, but I think lost it with the subs, grey looked shagged, Schlupp was poor, they should have made way for either riyad and kaputska or Musa on to the wing and a striker.
bridport007 Posted 20 September 2016 Posted 20 September 2016 Don't really care about the league cup,in fact, us not being in the cups for too long probably helped us win the league. Unforgivable from Waz. That's twice his wrestling skills have cost us matches. The Arsenal one was a ridiculous rush of blood, and tonight was the act of someone desperately out of their depth. Zieler...much rather have him as back-up than Hamer and Schwarzer. Jeff...found out I'm afraid. The commentator had it completely wrong when he said that Wes organised the back 4, he needs Huth. He looks so unsure without him. Thought Simpson and Chilwell weren't too bad. Would rather have seen Amartey start to build the partnership with Drinky. Shinji take a bow, and what a shame for Musa, it could have started the ball rolling? Long term, probably best we are out, maybe should have started with 11 fringe players.
ozleicester Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 I got through the first 4 pages of this topic, then decided i would check what the BBC had to say... Chelsea deserved the win in the end but Claudio Ranieri will perhaps be buoyed by his side's performance for much of the game, with glimpses of their incisive attacking and compact defending that helped them win the title last season on show First midweek game for a couple of years that i havent got up for. Disappointing to lose, but... we have bigger fish to fry
STUHILL Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 In conclusion... Chelsea's reserves are better than ours! Although, I actually think the game was there for the taking if Ranieri had made the changes earlier and not started with Musa and Okazaki upfront. Musa tonight, showed that he will probably be better suited as a wide player than a central striker. He is far too light-weight and his pace is no good if he gets pushed off the ball so easily. The difference when Vardy came on, proves that pace isn't enough, you need to be able to battle against these big defenders and Vardy did just that, giving Luiz as good as he got! Zieler, Wes, Simspon, Drinkwater, and to slightly lesser extend, Gray and Chilwell, all had decent games. Vardy had an instant impact until the game was lost and he tuned out. Ulloa battled hard but is no Slimani. Although Zieler conceded 4, it would have been a lot more if not for some great saves. Chilwell looks an accomplished LB but was guilty of backing off a little too much, as all the defence were tonight. Gray can beat a man alright! Needed to support Simpson better though but he will learn. Drinky had another decent game, just hope he isn't burnt out. Didn't think he would play all 120mins! Wes was Wes - Beast but missed his partner in crime and we looked dodgy on corners and set plays. King and Schlupp were totally anonymous. We expect that from King but Schlupp definitely wasn't his usual self. Either not fully recovered or rusty. I can't actually remember King doing anything! He seems to be one of these types of players that shadows the opposition, rather than getting stuck in and rarely makes himself available for the ball, or does much with it other than a sideways or backwards pass. Very frustrating and can't wait to see Mendy and hopefully bring in Silva in January. I think Claudio made a couple of errors tonight. Should have started with Ulloa and Okazaki and Musa instead of Schlupp on the wing. He also made the changes a good 10-15mins later than he should, when it was clear that the momentum had completely shifted and was only a matter of time before Chelsea scored. Luckily they didn't in that time, but it also meant Vardy and Ulloa had less time to make an impact . I really would have liked to have seen Kaputska play too. If he isn't going to be used in Cup games like this, then I don't know when he will get a game. Overall. a game that we could have put to bed in the 1st half, but when they scored just before the HT whistle, I had a bad feeling. They had too much quality and it felt as though we weren't that up for a battle and as soon as it went to 2-2, there was only going to be one winner. Not a game to get down about. We clearly weren't giving it a 100% and Claudio made some errors. Get the best 11 back on Saturday and lets beat the scum at Old Trafford!
FireFox Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 It's what it is. This cup was never a priority for this season. Shame about it going to extra time though. Hopefully our players will be fine for Man U away and home to Porto. Porto. Dilly ding, dilly dong. We are in Champions League!
UPinCarolina Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 Nice to see Shinji bag a couple of goals in typical Shinji fashion.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 Claudio ****ed up tonight I think. Only positive is Okazaki bagging two
CKB Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 So many average to poor performances last night! Morgan was shocking, his defending for their goal on the stroke of half time was inept and turned the game in their favour. Was let us down but you can see how outta his depth he is now, he's just not up to high profile matches anymore Chilwell has potential but he was run ragged by Moses Gray had a part to play in their second goal. Yes it was a cracker but if he hadn't been so careless and lost possession by trying to be clever then the goal may have been avoided Schlupp was atrocious, his performance was summed up when he was completely free near the half way line but still managed to somehow head the ball outta play by jumping up like a fish having a fit Simpson, Drinky had ok games, King was average but still should've scored. Musa was alright I thought Zieler was ok but could've done better especially for their 4th goal Okazaki was the only positive! Ranieri got so much wrong tonight, why the hell did we sign Kaputska if he can't even get any game time? He should've replaced Schlupp but instead one of the worst players on the pitch played the full game and ET!! I was pretty angry with the way we just lost the plot. I don't care if it's a tinpot cup, 2-0 up at home to then get reckless and inept is highly annoying and very disappointing
Raj Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 Atmosphere was crap by us. Was in the family stand with little un and L1 were piss poor.Probably duecti the regulars relocating, like myself!
KFS Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 I love this website as you can tell by my post count, but are we ever going to see the day where people don't hide behind "just my opinion" It's so Sean Dyche.

Well it is an opinion based site so probably not. You also can't blame people for doing so when any opinion that doesn't follow everyone else gets jumped on as if they've said Peter Taylor did a good job - they're bound to get defensive.

Unfortunatly every body has an opinion and when your paying good money to go and watch these games, your entitled to it. It is just an opinion, its not fact, not everyone might agree with it but hey, thats an opinion for ya!
