All the people who've been saying Wasilewski is a red card waiting to happen for the last 3 years must feel like they've just gotten to the urinal having held in a piss since he signed.

Yes but what pleasure would we have got if he had totally pole axed Costa.

Enjoying the standard comments about Andy King being anonymous despite providing an outside of the boot assist and missing a golden chance to win the game at 2-2.

not bothered about going out of the cup but letting slip a 2-0 goal lead is embarrassing.

i think (hope) we wouldnt have let that happen in an important game.

well done chelsea, looked out of it at 2-0 but deserved to win.

Hold on chaps, you've missed the point with a standard answer that dictates most of the problem. Of course you're entitled to an opinion, but can we start stamping out the "just my opinion" sentence fillers?

As someone has handily pointed out, if I disagree I'll do so regardless of it being "just your opinion". It's a loose phrase that essentially means "I'm sorry for going against the grain".

Just fvcking state your point and get your elbows out.

It's been a disaster of a night for us. Go 2-0 up and we're all set but we can't hold on for one minute of added time and then they come out and score another. Wasyl sent off on 90 minutes and they win the game as fast as you can say "well at least we could get a goal on the counter with Vardy."

Just to summarise: happy feeling in the camp has gone, our player of the season so far is knackered, manager had a absolute 'mare and we are £12 million out of pocket because we didn't sell Schlupp.

I think you are going well over the top there.

The Schlupp comment totally agreed.

Not the end of the world but extremely disappointing to let a 2-0 lead slip. The hard work had been done!

Our defence continues to worry me, we just aren't as tight as last year. Granted Was and Chillwell aren't first team but Morgan was pretty bad tonight.

Anyway onwards and upwards, two exciting games coming up!

In some ways, an odd game because at times we looked great and others we looked pants. Was encouraged by Musa's performance as he looked far more assured than ever before.

Chelsea's team was very strong in comparison to ours. The subs they brought on and the celebrations for their winners should be taken as a sign of respect. We are taken seriously by some (unlike the Sky commentators still playing the little Leicester line).

FFS, why all the panic.

If we could of opted out of this cup I think we would of.

the young lads got a decent couple of hours match time, we suffered no injuries and only lost the game after being reduced to ten men.

And as if Danny 'the machine' Drinkwater' is fooked after 7-8 games when he spent the whole summer on a sun lounger....

Yes I would of preferred he come off after an hour or so, but no matter.

And whats with people banging on about losing momentum and the happy buzz.

Please remind me how our following fixtures went after our defeat to Arsenal last year?

or perhaps Liverpool two weeks ago?

It's the league cup ffs.

Do I think we are too good or big for it? No.

Do I think we are too focused on other competitions to give a rats ass about going out this one? Abso-bloody-lutely. And rightly so.

The game it self was always going to be as unpredictable as the team selections were.

Not at all worried

Roll on Saturday when we roll over united

It looked like despite quotes to contary we just werent up for it with the exceptions of okazaki and drinky.  We didnt fight to challenge for balls..... king needs to be much more physical.

At 2 . 0 we were in control and then they went up a gear.  Well done cheksea they wanted it more than us

Out of three trophies - Charity Shield, Premier League and League Cup.

Guess we'll have to do an FA Cup / Champions League double.

.... wait.... i have a score on us finishing top four.... premier league must be priority!

I kno we were saving energy for the weekend, but the second half of extra time was the most depressing thing about last night. Sod the goals, sod losing, chelsea were the better team from 45mins onwards, when they went 4-2 up, **** it, who cares? But I personally would have liked to see some fight from the team, at least pretend to give a shit.

The only player that should have gone on the slower Is Drinky, the rest had no excuse.

Drinkwater is the most important player we have, there is no-one that can replace him, and when he plays bad or go slow, the rest of the team do the same.

King, Schlupp, Gray. chilwell all had a chance to stake a claim, but all gave up

Chilwell was pretty decent I thought overall, King looked lost for the most part. Schlupp was Schlupp

I went ballistic at Musa last night, I hope they make him watch the DVD and explain himself. His ridiculous attempt at a back heel in his own half gave Chelsea one last attack in the first half unnecessarily. We had fought hard to win the ball back, it's a couple of minutes to half time, just keep it simple and see it through to the break. At the time I declared "Cloughy would sub you for doing that" (something I once witnessed in a Forest match) and sure enough it leads to us conceding a goal at a crucial point of the game. All too often after long spells without the ball we'd eventually win it only to see it come straight back again often courtesy of a failed flick or heavy touch from Musa. Last season our efficiency on the break was key, every ball came off, every decision was the best decision possible, with Musa there's too many touches, not enough pure simplicity, an over eagerness where things fail to come off time and time again, sometimes you need to mix it up and try the simple thing that is guaranteed to keep possession rather than selfishly risk putting the hardworking defence and midfield back under pressure without a break. However I thought if Morgans "foul" against West Ham last season was a penalty then Cahill pushing Musa in the back with both hands is surely one too. And as for Schlupp..........

Reading these posts is like watching some diabolical seesaw go up and down. One patchy game and it's doom-n'-gloom time again. Reading that Chelsea were taking this game seriously and Claudio was giving the 'second-string' a try-out gives it a sense of reality. That we were ahead 2-0 by one of the players who regularly gets criticised for not scoring and that Mahrez, Huth and Vardy (Fuchs too?) weren't on at kick-off should remind some posters that it ain't the end of civilisation or City. Surely Wasilewski's marching  orders also put the mockers on it. He just isn't disciplined enough to play at this level. So, an under-strength and under-assimilated team...and what I mean by the latter is that the regular starters play at competitive level together and have a higher level of understanding as a result. I don't think this is about individual players as much about a team not quite gelling.

We've seen Brugge and Burnley (is there a witty aside in there?) neatly carved up by the first team, so I'm thinking this isn't such a disaster. Maybe CR has decided that the CL and the Premier are his priorities - if so I can see his point. it will be interesting to see if we can do one over the Red Weevils - looks like Mourinho the miracle worker has (temporarily maybe - but one can hope permanently) mislaid his magic touch. Bit of a big ask to transform his team at the drop of the wizard's hat and now I see there's no more money to bolster the squad. The happy days continue at Old Trafford :-). Let's hope that we can add to their woes - field the strongest team and there's every chance it could happen.

Agreed.

Add to to that apart from another Wes howler for the Cahill goal we were good value for a 2-0 HT lead.

I have not read the whole thread but I thought Grey behind tripped in the area was a stonewall penalty?

We gave the game away with a lack of concentration be four half time,in doing that,

drinky ended up playing the 120,when kapuska might have come on on the hour,

vardy shouldn't have came on,Okazaki should have for the first ever time got 90 mins under his belt, and why wasn't Hernandes playing instead of wes,

due to the above and some bad tactical changes,I feel we've made the Utd game even harder than what it was

What is going on with Kaputska ? you'd think e would have gotten a run out at least.

Couldn't give a rats ass about the EFL cup. But Schlupp is an imposter. Never in a million years is he a professional footballer.

I've been getting slatted for these type of comments for three years regardless of their accuracy.

Defensively he made some errors, but he was playing against a good player and is still young, but he got forward well and had some nice touches.

Did you watch it on the box? Did it look that way via the replay cuz in real time (it was right In front of me) it looked like his foot was taken away
