Has Claudio abandoned the Premier League?

Recommended Posts

.......It seems that he has according to his post match interview, but is it a good or a bad thing?

On reflection I think I agree with him.

As much as it hurts watching us get embarrassed in these league games, I think to simply stay in the Premier league really should be the main aim, and have a damn good go at the Champions league.

As long as we stay in the Premier league.

I think it gives Claudio more time to assess players and how they play together, and to find his best team going into the next couple of seasons.

I have no expectations from this season apart from top half of the league finish (another go at Champions league would be an awesome bonus), and a ridiculously better than expected Champion's League finish.

At the end of it, we will have a much, much better overview of our abilities.

Am pissed btw

COYB!

No he's just saying that when we come out from a hiding as an excuse. He'll be fuming behind closed doors, I reckon,

If we lose 4 nil away to sunderland then yes. We've had some horribly difficult away games so far and right before CL games. Smashed Burnley, Swansea and grabbed a good point against Arsenal so there is still a spark somewhere.

Yes it looks like it.

It looks like he wants to go as far as poss in the Champs League, and avoid relegation in the Prem. That's what it looks like.

He needs to be careful. If he's playing that game is a risky one.

We're not going to win the CL but people are OK with basically throwing league games to try and do well in it, but year in year out people say we should get knocked out of the domestic cups (one of which we have NEVER FVCKING WON), to concentrate on the league.

Any Leicester fan over a certain age will tell you our league form will go up & down like a whores draws for the foreseeable.

Truth is this will quite probably be our only chance to make our mark on Europe until the next freak season. The longest run possible in CL should be our priority.

This is what I think.

The Champions League is not why we can't defend corners

and do basic things like pass to each other.

The Champions league is your blue eyed blond sexy side piece who's great in bed but deep down inside you know it will not last forever.

The Premier League is your loyal wife who you've had ups and downs with but she loves you unconditionally and always has dinner ready for you on the table after a hard days work, ok the sex might not be the best but that don't matter.

let's hope we don't keep our mind and eyes to fixated with our blue eyed blond or we might come home one day to find our loyal wife has kicked us out.

So after the Liverpool performance, the Man Utd subs and today's resting of players/post match comments from Ranieri (even though I agree with dropping Mahrez) should fans just boycott the games we play before Champions League games?

Because if the players aren't going to turn up/rest players/quite clearly instruct the players to ease off, why should the fans turn up?

Posted that in the Ranieri thread, hadn't seen this thread.

arsenal.                   Hull

swansea.                 Lpool

burnley.                   Yanited

soton.                      Chelsea

(palace.)                   (Spurs)

given that the last four away games come several days before CL fixtures, only the hull result was not predictable (I'm assuming we lose at WHL)

conceding so so many goals away is what is strange but given we have only conceded 1 at the KP, I suspect it's the mental approach to these away games which is responsible- clearly the message must be that these games are written off once we fall behind.

as I posted in the post match thread, I wonder if the financial rewards for winning CL games is responsible for our mental approach to these away fixtures

guess we have to wait until xmas to know whether this theory has any legs ?

He's not throwing the PL before CL games, you only have to look at the Hull match to see that. Anyone thinking it will all be O.K once we're out of the CL can't see the consistant lack of concentration by the players, he's not telling the defence to mess up is he!?

If you go out with the wrong mental approach then your concentration is going to be the first thing that suffers ??

how bad has our concentration looked in the CL and the home PL fixtures ??

its not throwing the games as such - just being pragmatic I think.

If we're abandoning the premier league surely we should atleast be giving our youngsters a go

Crying out for Demarai.

By the way, each CL win earns £1.35 million whereas as PL finishing place is £2 million

Getting to the last 16 is worth £5.4 mill

Prioritising the CL with our current fixture list makes very good economic sense.

losng at places like anfield and old Trafford is unlikely to dictate us losing PL mid table finishing positions. That's going to be games like hull away which is why that was such a terrible outcome looking ahead to the sept/oct period.

Playing youngsters in games where we are expecting to lose could be quite damaging to their development?

i would prefer to see the likes of chilwell and gray playing these games though - they aren't exactly babies

A decent European team will rip us a new new arse hole when we reach the knockouts. Then what are we left with? A relegation battle. It's not just down to focusing on the CL though.  It's down to our team thinking it is OK to earn big money and do **** all. Morgan is a joke at the minute, as is most of the team.

Agree with this, I'd sooner have Kapustka gray and chilwell working there arse off over players giving half arsed performances

Well 9 out of the 11 on the pitch today will probably start against Copenhagen... So looks like the players have. If that's true and it may well be. We have what another 4 games in champions league 2 of which we may already be through for. Plus say we do get thru another 4 if we do really well and get to the quarters.

It could be a really long hard season in the league then
