HighPeakFox Posted 15 October 2016 Posted 15 October 2016 Here's a question by way of an attempt to shift the focus slightly - assuming we make it out of our CL group of course - how many PL away wins is acceptable from our remaining fixtures, as far as any of you is concerned?

Fox92 Posted 15 October 2016 Posted 15 October 2016 Our squad is not good enough or big enough to rotate. Mahrez and Slimani not playing at Chelsea away is laughable. We haven't got good enough cover in central defence or central midfield to rotate, while he just seems to ignore Chilwell and Kapuska (an international player).
Wymsey Posted 15 October 2016 Posted 15 October 2016 Maybe the CL is hugely mouth-watering prospect for the players. We've the chance to play against other league winning sides, barring how Brugges played, and no doubt today's match showed they were somewhat saving energy (I said it) for next week. It's a whole lot more interesting to them than playing the likes of Burnley, Sunderland Swansea. Imagine if LCFC were in the semi-final or final, the club's and King Power's brand would be immensely enhanced and spread like anything fast.

NZ_Foxile Posted 15 October 2016 Posted 15 October 2016 Well if they are not bothering about the away Premier League games, please can they let us fans know in advance, so I don't waste my money and time going to the match
MC Prussian Posted 15 October 2016 Posted 15 October 2016 I don't think Ranieri or the club are "abandoning" the league, they're merely abandoning the away games as it seems of right now. All of this to preserve energy or to allow for faster or better regeneration with some of our key players, seeing that we're currently still engaged in three different competitions. For the first time in over a year, the former Tinkerman has to tinker again. Squad rotation means we'll see a lot more games like the Chelsea away one where we basically hand in the towel right before kick-off and are willfully playing second fiddle for 90+ minutes. This will lead to a lot more frustration within the fanbase or a rollercoaster ride for the season as a whole, with plenty of ups and downs in quick succession. I will forgive the club, the team and Ranieri for performances such as today's. However, that requires them to play opponents off the park at the King Power to make up for it. We shall see how that promise can come to fruition as the campaign progresses.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 15 October 2016 Posted 15 October 2016 Is CR Prioritizing the CL? Yes Is CR abandoning the PL? No I really wish he had gone 4-5-1 in those 3 games, or even at least today, given his/our priorities. With hindsight, I imagine he does too. Last year, we played these sides when we had no european commitments to worry about, we were fitter and fresher and more focused. This year, the situation is reversed. Double whammy, init. Dilly ding dilly dong, life goes on, a good result against Copenhagen will mean we can prioritize the league until Feb. Come on Leicester.

Even though we won't win it, I'd want to make the most of it while we are there. The Cups however we are in every year, and so they lose their value. I disagree with playing weak teams wherever possible but when you play so many games in a season, it's a reality that you have to prioritise.

I generally won't give an exact figure for things like this as circumstance will dictate a lot of things. It's a general level of performance that will dictate my level of satisfaction because I do believe when the performances are right the results will come. But right now who on earth would we beat away? I know people are saying we've got the tough run over with when Spurs away is out the way, but does anyone seriously see us winning at Watford at the minute? I can only see defeat again right now. 7 hours ago, Col city fan said: No they aren't. They are a pretty average side at this moment in time. And nowhere near as good as Chelsea were today. They know exactly how to handle it and they usually get through it. For us to beat them is a very good result for me.

Exactly, they'd just beaten Roma 3 1 over two legs and have years of European experience. We were easily the commanding force in the first half and thought it was pretty equal in the second until it got a bit backs to the wall in the last 10 or 15 minutes. A huge result to be proud of!

Blue ROI Posted 16 October 2016 Posted 16 October 2016 I'd be fearful for how it could turn out under Ranieri but I will say this.In spite of our horrific away defeats we are still in a league position that hasn't been bettered (last year aside) since October 2000. The bandwagon brigade will point to this as failure and I had to put up with a fair share of Leicester are finished now talk where I watched the game yesterday. In spite of all that has happened the ambition I would have had for Leicester after winning the 2013/14 championship was to equal if not better the 6 seasons spent in the top flight under O'Nelll. That target hasn't changed one bit for me. We might stumble along this season but when all the fuss cools down Leicester will still be keen to improve again. That might be next season but there is too much good being achieved for it to all disappear.
MC Prussian Posted 16 October 2016 Posted 16 October 2016 31 minutes ago, Matt said: Like we did v Southampton? No, what I meant was that away defeats can be forgiven, especially against teams like Chelsea. But it's a fine line with the display on show, because if your motivational skills fail and results start to fade even at home (where we've still got a very good record), then it sooner than later leads to a downward spiral. I agree with the notion that the next week will be crucial and a test of strength with two home games in succession in order to demonstrate that we're not just caving in and that we are indeed regarding away games as a necessary evil more than anything.
Koke Posted 16 October 2016 Posted 16 October 2016 Just to remind people we've o my conceded 1 goal at home in the PL this season and we're unbeaten at home so far. We haven't abandoned the PL, we've just waved the white flag at away games at Old Trafford, Anfield and Stamford Bridge. Rightly or wrongly. If we were losing at Palace, Watford and Middlesbrough then I'd be seriously worried. That said, there are some players who need a few home truths. There are guys who simply aren't good enough atm (Schlupp, Albrighton, Amartey, Vardy, Morgan). Wes Morgan's marking yesterday was a disgrace. Vardy has been a disgrace for 6 weeks now. Schlupp is braindead and should be sold asap and Albrighton tries but he's dreadful. Ranieri needs to make some tough decisions. Vardy and Morgan need a few games on the bench.
HighPeakFox Posted 16 October 2016 Posted 16 October 2016 Emotive language just doesn't help one bit.
Raj Posted 16 October 2016 Posted 16 October 2016 To be fair we have played 3 of the clubs who Will be competing for the title come May(And Hull was always on the cards what with no Champions losing the first game of the season and all that) Next away is Spurs, another title contender so surely a better gauge will be when we play the likes of West Ham,Saints,Swansea etc away. I'm not saying were playing well,as we clearly are a shadow of last season BUT like I said a better gauge will be playing teams aribg us where we hope to finish ie mid table.

Slimani and Mahrez had played two games and travelled to and from Africa in the last fortnight whilst half the squad hadn't played a competitive game in that time. If you're going to have a squad then use it and this was as good a time as any. Schlupp and Musa haven't had a lot of game time this season and they can have no complaints if they get a game and don't perform and then get dropped again.

The only bad result we've had is losing away at Hull. We won't be the only teams who go to Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd and get beat. Drawing at home to Arsenal and Southampton are average results. We looked brilliant against both Burnley and Swansea at home so on what we've seen so far we look like a typical mid table side. Hull apart we've performed to expectation, we've been beat by the best sides away, beat the worst sides at home and drew with the better sides at home.
crazyleicester Posted 16 October 2016 Posted 16 October 2016 I dont think he has abandoned the league but he dropped the Algerian superstars because he must have seen some tiredness in them. Ultimately he has to use the squad and test the likes of Musa, Gray, Chilwell and Kapustka to see what they have and he does need to be brave and try different formations. One final thing, I think you will see the best of us in the second half of the season. We are still in a bit of shell shock after last seasons efforts, there is still some fatigue there from the International comps and a long pre-season and when the reality hits us that we need to improve we will. Our squad have mentally been through the mill and I think they will really perform from Jan onwards and we will soon climb that Prem table.
