Not quite Jan yet, but I would imagine a return to the starting 11 for Drinkwater on the cards.

You're having a mare this morning Moksky, Middlesbrough game is in Jan.

Last few players Genk have sold to Premier League clubs at a young age with no experience of this league.

Thibaut Courtois

Christian Benteke

Kevin De Bruyne

Divock Origi and Yannick Carrasco (Ath. Madrid) also started out at Genk. And they flogged Koulibaly to Napoli who apparently turned down £58m from Chelsea for him in August.

A reasonable record of churning out players who are going on to make it in some decent leagues I'd say.

I am sorry but how is that even an argument lol Genk have sold three good players to Premier League clubs so obviously the fourth one they sell will also be amazing.

Even then the point your making does not stand up to the point he is making, he's concerned that we need a solution in midfield right now (a concern I more than share) not in 2/3/4 years time. De Bruyne played three times in two years for Chelsea after signing, Courtois barely kicked a ball for Chelsea until years after his transfer, Benteke fair props but then even he was approaching 22 when he signed for Villa, much more developed than the other players being discussed.

If they think he can come in and do a job straight away then I'm all for it, but if he does a Kaputska, signs, and then vanishes, or if he plays and is clearly nowhere near ready (assuming we aren't looking at another CM option)  I am going to be extremely disillusioned with the way this club is recruiting at the moment. We can all see the holes in the team, and the biggest is a massive N'Golo Kante shaped one bang in the middle of the field and it needs partially filling at least if we are going to move away from the drop zone, and filling now, not in a couple of seasons time.

It's unlikely as he won't be insured until he officially signs.

He could of signed last week for all we know... we just would not of been allowed to register him for our team until January 1st so most teams choose not to sign until the 1st

I didn't think we were allowed to sign players until the window opened - not just register them.

Hasn't the Brazilian lad Man City signed been training with them for like two months?

Hello guys,

I am a fan of KRC Genk and I think I can tell you something more about the skills of Wilfred Ndidi. First of all, congratulations. Why? Because Wilfred is an exceptional talent and very mature for his age. In most recent years we've seen some young talents passing by in Genk: Courtois, De Bruyne, Benteke, Defour, Koulibaly, Milinkovic-Savic, ... in the first team, and Carrasco, Origi,  etc in the Youth Academy. I can assure you that Ndidi stands futher in his development right now than most of them by that age. What makes him so strong? He's called 'The Octopus' for a certain reason. He's the type of player that actually has the ball when he really wants. With his long legs, he is literally everywhere. He has a beautiful crosspass as well and is strong with his head. He is the best number 6 we've ever had in Genk and probably will ever have. We played Athletic Bilbao twice this year, and in both fixtures, he was our only defensive midfielder. Just because the manager knew that even against strong opponents, only Ndidi on that position was enough. Playing against a Spanish topteam was a good way to discover what his actual qualities are. He succeeded with distinction.

Thanks for the info

i have highlighted the bit that reminds me of ngolo

of course he doesn't have long legs but he seemed to be able to get one of them to the ball from any position close to an opponent.

is he an ntelligent player? NG's biggest strength is his reading of the game, he always seems to be in the right area of the pitch  to make an interception or a tackle.

Ndidi is really an intelligent player. He always thinks two steps ahead. During the tackle he already knows where to drop the ball afterwards. He is also stronger than he seems at first sight. He's no robust type of player, but more of a contortionist. That makes him extremely agile.

From a player like Christian Kabasele, we knew that he would have difficulties to adapt to the Premier League. Just like we thought Mourinho was a ninny after questioning De Bruyne's potential during his Chelsea period. We used to see these guys play every weekend, so we knew/know who's ready for the PL or not. And Ndidi definitely is. His dad was a strict colonel who raised him with the needed amount of discipline. So don't expect a guy who's constantly in the tabloids after misbehaving. But I guess that's a good thing ;).

He played a fantastic last year and was a true leader on the pitch, but he was not that exceptional such as Kompany in his early days for Anderlecht for example. You see it when a young player has that 'something extra'. Ndidi has.

How come know 'bigger club' has come in for Ndidi?

This is starting to feel a little like Kramaric. Just hoping its not going to end the same.

Logic in a way. I think that the absolute topteams in the PL, Bundesliga and Primera Division only buy players who are a 100% certainty. Ndidi is 20, only played in Genk and only plays in Europe since 2015. Those are the facts for them, and that's why they see it as a risk. And Man Utd and Dortmund informed as well though.

His ball winning skills cannot be questioned though. It's just whether his technique is good enough.

I be really excited but I'm going to hold judgement due to Mendy/Amartey Ect.

I don't tend to get excited until we have seen them now days.

Not like we buy players many of us if at all any of us have seen.

Are we concerned with technique from a defensive midfielder? We won the title by having Kante win the ball and pass it quickly to either Drinky or Mahrez! If he can win the ball back like Kante could (which makes it sound so simple but in reality is a unique skill Kante has) then that will really help the team. Should relieve pressure on the back 4 and help us be more creative.

From the vids I've seen his technique seems more than adequate. Has scored some nice goals and also has a good long pass to him. Cant help but get excited for his arrival. When we knew we were losing Kante who else could we realistically get? Gana who went to Everton is the only one that comes to mind, maybe Carvallho from Sporting? N'Zonzi wasn't leaving Sevilla for us. Honestly I believe Kante will go down in years to come as better than Makelele and maybe even better than Keane and Viera. We know he's that good.

So I'm going to hope that our disastrous follow-up season to the title win will result in helping the team transition and by the end of the season we have an exciting blend of youth and experience with N'didi, Gray, Amartey, Musa and Chillwell either in the first team or making a real impact from the bench and with Kaputska physically ready after a loan spell with someone else. The season won't be a write-off as we set ourselves up for years to come.

I want to believe!

Not saying AmarteyAndChill has but it dose seem a lot on here have judged Mendy on an injury.
