So, this is not the normal kind of question I ask - you can wait until next week for my more regular poll - but a friend of mine, who is not a Leicester fan, was pushing me on this question the other day, and so I thought I would ask you lot. I know that it is not a 'real' choice, and I am going to get some flack on here with, 'why does it have to be one or the other' and 'what a stupid question' and 'we're not going to win the CL anyway', but it is an interesting one.

Personally, I would go for the Champions League and relegation. I have been a City fan all my life and have seen them play in the top three divisions, and I could handle us playing in the Championship again if we won the CL. We would be back in the CL by rights of being the winners of the comp.... but it would be that ignominy of being that team that won the Prem, won the CL AND got relegated.

The obvious comparison is Wigan and the FA cup but that is a much tighter thing in my head as this would be the CL, but, on the other-hand, could you honestly say that you are 'the best team in Europe' if you cannot even stay in your domestic top flight?

Make a choice and put your reason below.

Champions League and relegation without a seconds thought.

Sorry mate, for some reason I hadn't actually added the poll, but have done now - see above.

Win the champions league and get relegated.

Who wouldnt want to win the champions league?????

And why has the Premier League trophy disappeared at the top of the page too????

I must say I found it quite an easy one.  Let's just hope we don't go out at the next round and still get relegated.

Another interesting question is: "would you rather be in Spurs' or Leicester's overall situation right now (i.e. out of CL, but looking good in league, or topping Group in CL, but really struggling in PL)?"  I think I'd take our position.

As above.

I'm all for the stability of the club etc, however what's the point in following competitive sport if not winning competitions? Otherwise you just become Arsenal, Spurs etc.

Plus our fixture list would be incredible. Scunthorpe (a), Barcelona (h), Rochdale (h), PSG (a) for example.

Gut response win the Champions League and relegation. I don't know how much we're now paying our squad and whether we're at all equipped to cope with relegation or God forbid multiple relegations (which isn't completely out of the question once we've sold our better players and have a second Champions League campaign to think about). Since it's entirely hypothetical I'll go with the gut response.

Yep..................I agree...... I would take winning champs League with relegation followed by winning the Championship and then more relegation as I would be more use to it again by then!!

I feel like that combination would actually cripple us haha. 52 games guaranteed. Our second half of the season would be Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday so often

Win the champions league and get relegated, I'd be ok with that.

I would be a little pissed off though if we threw away the league by focussing too much on the champions league. Whilst we all want to win the CL, would anyone be happy if in a relegation 6 pointer we rest our best players to focus on the upcoming CL tie?

It would be strange to be relegated but at the same time to be known as the best team in europe! Plus be a first to see a team in the championship playing champions league football.

Also, can you imagine that we get relegated, play at places like Barnsley and Burton away one week then immediately travelling to possibly play teams like Atletico Nacional or Boca or River Plate in the Club World Cup this time next year lollol

Champions league, any day. The whole point is to watch your team win the biggest competitions and prizes. Imagine telling your grandkids, "Well i've followed the club through think and thin and watching us win away at Liverpool, etc, was the most memorable day of my life" which is all that 80% of football fans in the country will be able to say.

A Champions League title on top of a Premier League title and Relegation. Then another relegation to league 1 i'll snap your hand right off haha! Our run in League one was one of my favourite seasons as a supporter :)

I see a lot of talk like this.

Just as I'm not losing my marbles about our recent regression to the mean in the Premier, I am also not deluding myself that there will be any other outcome than us getting utterly pumped the first time we play a massive European team.

Sorry, but we are not going to win the CL. It just ain't gonna happen.

But of course if I had the choice, CL and relegation every time.

I'd take a win over both questions at the moment.

Push come to shove I'd rather stay up and get knocked out in the Semi's by the eventual winners

champions league win and relegation from a guy who in another poll chose Pearson and relegation over no Pearson and staying up? And it's only your gut response? I bet on football manager you just play as pearsons assistent which ever club he's at!

During the 2014/15 season I wasn't worried about relegation threatening the future of the club, because I wasn't blind to the fact that Nigel Pearson and his staff were building a very good team, had a very strong record in the Championship and we weren't paying any extortionate (in comparison to the wages paid by sides of similar stature) wages to anybody. There's more risk now because we are paying extortionate wages to players that would be difficult to sustain outside of the top flight. Hope that clears up why I'm cautiously choosing the Champions League win. I'd also point out that I've made two posts mentioning Nigel Pearson in the last month, whereas you've made two posts about my 'obsession' with Nigel Pearson in the last hour...
