Morgan and Huth

Huth and Morgan will be better in a 442 with ndidi and drinky/Mendy there to babysit them.

Ndidi can do what kante did, he looks a fine player.

We basically played a man short with 3-5-2, as we had too many in midfield with nothing to do and our defenders couldn't mark their wing backs and creative players hazard and Willian.

Stick to 442 especially with huth Morgan and ndidi is capable of protecting them there too. It will be like last season defensively at least

Morgan looks jaded physically and mentally.....he deserves a rest to recharge his body and brain. Numerous times yesterday he lost his man or switched off whilst his desperate throwing his body at shots was laboured which again suggests fatigue.

Huth was always bought to head, tackle and keep it basic but never blessed with pace he looks as though age maybe catching up with him whilst lacking confidence.

Agree with most of the views I would start Amartey if he were available but we definitely need a footballing centre half who is not a bomb scare on the ball.....problem is not many affordable and available ones around.....personally think Ben Gibson is top drawer but no way would Boro sell him.

It's especially annoying when Morgan receives the ball,he dallies, slightly bends sticking out his fat arse before hook hoofing it anywhere upfield.

No different to what they both did last season and I didn't see anyone moaning then.

We just kept 2 clean sheets in the league before this!

Regardless of the opinions on Huth/Morgan and how they are playing, the fact that we dont have any decent backup for them (or back up that Ranieri trusts) is frightening considering their age.

Both ready for the bone yard. Slow, clumsy and the rule changes have negated a huge part of their game cheating .

Totally agree. We're in a position where they're pretty much our only choice. People slate them (rightly so, at times) but honestly, who else are we going to play as it stands? Hernandez always looked like a squad filler at best and it seems we went all out for Keane and didn't have a proper Plan B when Burnley resisted. If we don't get one in this transfer window then that's really bad news IMHO.

The fact that we still have a 36 year old waselewski for main back up is pretty shocking too, are we going to keep offering him these one year contract extensions till he turns 100?!

Think a lot of it yesterday was to do with the tactics employed. The defence looked all at sea. Changing the defence against possibly the most dangerous attacking team was either foolish or brave. You decide!!

And when Huth went off did you notice Morgan and fuchs continually gesturing to each other and the bench, WTF is going on?

A back 3 with these 2 was never going to work. They are still capable against most teams as proven in recent weeks but outclassed against a Chelsea side and a formation which exposed them.

You need you have a system to protect them though. Definitely an area that needs addressing.

Both are in their twighlight now and a succession plan should be in full swing for them - errrrrrr!!!!!!!

That said, our defensive frailty is much bigger than two ageing stoppers. We're not defending to an agreed and understood formula, not working anywhere as hard as last season. The first goal yesterday was embarrassing. The Chelsea lad was playing Twister in space for 2 mins before scoring!!!

The two games we kept clean sheets with them at centre back we played super-defensively for all bar 20 minutes.

Theyre a huge part of the problem with our attack as well; it's all well and good being a "head it and kick it" centre back and keeping clean sheets but if it comes at the detriment of the team's results then it's not enough.

in 2007/8 we went down despite having the second or third best defence in the division because McAuley and Kisnorbo, whilst fine blockers and headers of the ball, couldn't find a blue shirt to save their lives.

Huth is better than Morgan so I think Morgan should be faded out first. I fear we're gonna have a Rooney situation on our hands with Morgan. Morgan have another 2 years left on his contract and I suspect Ranieri will continue to start him next season as well, even though he's been poor and is getting older.

I think the challenge for CR was he didn't feel able to change, not just the centre-backs but all positions based on last year. Well now he should feel able to based on where we are, number of games played, and individual performances. I think other than KS no player has matched last year's performance levels.

Yes it was annoying then aswell but not going to nitpick when we was winning games like we were.Yes we kept two clean sheets in the Premier league games before this, which is why all my anger is at Ranieri for changing the system when we looked like we may have turned a corner but **** it I'll add a moan about Morgans dally stick out fat arsed hook hoofs cause I'm pissed off.

If he was going to play 3 CB's today, then it was the perfect opportunity for Hernandez. Claudio obviously has 0% faith in him, and seems another Benny situation. So bizarre.

If we are ruling out him, Benny and Was, then we have Huth and Morgan, who have both seemed to have gone off a cliff edge, in terms of age catching up to them. We need two CB's in this window, even if it means we can't afford a RB or Midfieldfer/Striker target as well. Although, we should be spending whatever it takes to get us out of this hole in my opinion.

Spend about £30 million total on two decent CB's from Europe who are a decent age and pedigree and try one alongside Huth, and then if Huth continues to be pants, then have the two new CBs in. Wes and Huth have had it too easy this season, as no one in the squad is challenging them, even with how poor they have been.

Could have a new back four of Simpson--New Cb--New Cb--Chilwell by the end of January. Add to that an attacking midfielder with some creativity and flair, and we could be a very different team.

Worrying though at the half way point of the window the only thing we hear about is Ramirez.

A new signing.

Agreed , but that along with another defender should have been done in the close season . Not the panic buying that looks like is going to have to be done now.

The point about effective back up is key. If either Wes or Huth has a nasty injury we will have real issues. I think we have to be prepared to pay over the odds for a decent centre back in the next couple of weeks. Ideally a back up RB too, but I guess Amartey could deputise there if required.

Yup, it's really frustrating we messed up the Summer but I guess the club, and I, never expected our defence to go downhill so rapidly.

Maybe Hernandez will get a go in his actual position..
