StanSP Posted 5 February 2017 Posted 5 February 2017 How is King getting stick if that's the most baffling sub you've ever seen while watching us this season you should be very thankful.

He literally just passes 5 metres sideways or 5 metres backwards. That is it. he is also far to weak in defence. Yes he shadows and runs lot, but he rarely puts a foot in or intercepts a ball. He is just too passive and we can't carry a player like him anymore.

Roosters boots Posted 6 February 2017 Posted 6 February 2017 The fact that Andy king is still playing for us in the premier league is baffling. I get that he's been a great servant to the club, however he's too slow and one dimensional and offers nothing, tackling is woeful and passes whichever way he is facing, cannot turn and drive a team forward, like Morgan, another year older and simply not good enough for a team who supposed to be champions. Should of been shown the door the year we come up. Can you imagine the team yesterday looking on as he came on to save the day ???
Foxhateram Posted 6 February 2017 Posted 6 February 2017 We needed an extra man in Midfield to stop them from steamrollering through every time. There were huge gaps between drinky and ndidi and we needed someone else in there to help break down the play. As it turned out we were slightly better at finding some sort of attacking play in the second half. (Maybe because united had sat back a bit) I thought King coming on was good to help us keep the ball better (which we did in patches). Really not sure about Gray up top though. We really needed someone physical because we couldn't get through united's midfield. Someone like Ulloa would have been really useful yesterday. Although in fairness to Gray he did work hard to make some chances, if he is going to play ip there though and this applies to this season's Vardy too, they need to learn to hold the ball up, so the midfield can join the attack. Turn and run was fine last year because we had Kante who was lightning to keep up and help link other players in. This year our midfield is about as mobile as a tank made out lead. And as for Musa! He should not be anywhere near this team! He can't even control the ball! Silly starting him and Vardy together.

Should of been shown the door the year we come up. Can you imagine the team yesterday looking on as he came on to save the day ??? He keeps the ball. Which is exactly what we need right now. For some reason our fans seem to think the ball should be played at a million miles an hour and our atgacks should be 3 touches and shoot. When we are in our current position with such a shakey defence. We desperately need to keep the fecking ball! Kasper, Morgan and Huth are not helping out by hoofing when the midfield lay the ball back to them. Instead they should appreciate king's lay off and find another player to pass too. First rule of football, play the way your facing. Simple. You turn, you 9 times out of 10 will lose it. Especially this season where teams are closing us down so quickly. We have no time on the ball. Teams are pressing us like we did to them last year. And they are beating us at what was our own game. To survive now we must learn to keep the ball and be more patient. We just don't have the speed and agility to play like we did last year.
Guest Col city fan Posted 6 February 2017 Posted 6 February 2017 Again, it shows how our recruitment over the summer was shocking. We have such little quality to bring on when Plan A (whatever that is under Ranieri) isn't working. I love King. But he's only ever been an average Premiership player. He wasn't going to change that game yesterday. Why? He simply isn't good enough to.
MattCan Posted 6 February 2017 Posted 6 February 2017 Need a player who moves forward with the ball in midfield and tries to link-up with the front three. Not one who passes the ball to the static Drinkwater, Ndidi or Huth. He could have 100% pass accuracy but what for?
Lambert09 Posted 6 February 2017 Posted 6 February 2017 Never mind Kingy my mate watched the whole game and asked me at the end when Mahrez comes back from Africa ..... its not even funny

We all know he is anonymous at times but he has a great habit of getting into the box and getting us a goal which at 0-2 down was obviously needed. It was a gamble that didnt pay off unfortunately. come on.. King hasnt really contributed since league one. He wasn't even a major factor in the winning championship team. It was James and Drinkwater that got us up.

Yeah I don't know if this was the same thing, but there was one moment that Ndidi passed it forward to King, and King just passed it straight back to Ndidi - who was visably frustrated. However, it's not really King's fault. That's his game. We know he's going to do that. If we had centre-backs who could pass the ball, and full-backs who could attack then King might be a good option. For me, the biggest problem we have is that Morgan, Huth and Simpson are simply awful going forward. This means that opposition teams know that they can let any of our defenders have possession of the ball and they won't be able to do anything with it except hoof it. It's probably a bit of a panic move, but I would move Ndidi into central defence temporarily. I know it's a stop-gap solution but we really need a defender who can pass a ball and help us to springboard into attack. I think also we have to bring Chilwell in... (Maybe putting Fuchs on the right to replace Simpson). I think we really need some quality in our defensive positions.
dynamark Posted 6 February 2017 Posted 6 February 2017 Fella sat next to me suggested we bring on Allbrighton at half time because =at least he runs around a lot
Roosters boots Posted 6 February 2017 Posted 6 February 2017 Jogged back for utd's 3rd goal pointed at mkhitaryan to be picked up then watched him as he played in mata ?
yorkie1999 Posted 6 February 2017 Posted 6 February 2017 We don't need anything apart from a fvckin goal!. That is the key and what i feel is the whole problem and everything else, the alleged in-fighting and backstabbing etc, is a consequence of that fact. And you don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to work out It is impossible to win a game without scoring a goal. So, Mr Vardy, it is your job to score goals if you ain't doing that you're not doing your job. Stuff the lack of service, just get the ball and run straight at the goal with it, forget the trying to be clever bit and pointing where the ball should be played cos you ain't good enough for that, and you're not going to terrorise any defence by pointing where the ball wants to be.

I said that I am not his biggest fan but if you put all our central midfielders in a line (it`ll be a long one) and asked which one of them was more likely to score a goal then I would always pick Drinky. That doesnt mean I rate him as out best central midfielder but if you need a goal, I wouldnt for example be throwing on Amartey or Mendy but King may nick a goal for us from the bench.
filbertway Posted 6 February 2017 Posted 6 February 2017 We could have taken about 5 players off yesterday and the game would have finished 3-0, it didn't really matter. Mourinho teams are so boring they're not really interested in taking teams apart. They'd have happily passed it between the back 4 for 45 minutes if given the opportunity. They did it for about 30 minutes anyway

Really, based on what? 2 goals in 33 for Huddersfield? 0 goals in 9 and 12 games on loan with Cardiff and Watford, 1 for Barnsley in 17 before we took him or 12 in about 180 for us? so about a goal every half a season on average. Now I know kingy has gone backwards, but he averages a goal about every 6 games and he barely plays 90 mins anymore. I think we all know who the better player on their day is, but goals are not really drinkys game.

That means we have a centre back that can not only pick out good passes but is also capable of bringing it out of defence. To be honest I would drop Morgan and Huth then give Ndidi and Amartey the games there against Derby & Swansea. I doubt they'll be any worse than those two have been recently.

Wymsey Posted 6 February 2017 Posted 6 February 2017 He's hasn't done too much wrong tbh but he lacks general strength and the ability to quickly go back and forth on the pitch like Ndidi shown yesterday.
