Ndidi Made Pogba A Passenger In The Midfield, The Boy Is Good – Gary Neville

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has saluted the performances of Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi despite the 0-3 loss suffered by Leicester City in the hands of Neville’s former club Manchester United.

Neville who was in the studio as a pundit during the course of the game, praised the Nigerian for keeping the world most expensive player Paul Pogba silent for the entire duration of the game.

Ndidi who was voted Leicester City man of the match by the BBC made a good impression on the former Valencia boss, who described his performance as near perfect.

” I can’t fault his (Ndidi) performance, he was very big in the game. He made Pogba a passenger in the middle. The boy is good in tackles and he is not afraid of running with the ball either”, Neville said.

” He got Pogba booked and was fouled severally, that said I can’t remember when he fouled any opponent. He did well despite how poor his team were on the day”

He has shown that the defensive midfielder we thought was the missing link was just the tip of the iceberg. He is pretty much our only shining light.

He looked well up for it, compared to others. Not surprising, new in the country and playing one of the biggest teams in the world- you want to make an impression.

Made his CM team-mate look like a slob.

we've found another gem, and we really need to keep this one if we can. it's still early days but he looks very promising and will hopefully keep putting in decent shifts and great performances for the team

For 100m Pogba has been shocking. Physically he does resemble Ndidi and they play in the same position so its no surprise they were compared and i have to agree, Ndidi bossed the midfield and every time the ball came near him you had the feeling something positive could happen. Unfortunately it takes a new signing to show the way ahead of a team of champions who are in heavy sulk and feel sorry for each other mode at the moment.

He'll boss it for us in the championship

Ndidi /Barnes Combo....

Drinkwater will go.

Amartey converted to a CB.

Mendy...... Injured or offloaded!

James back in the fold perhaps?

Always knew the kid has potential.  Thought that with him, Drinkwater would be able to pull the strings freely. The problem (defense aside) is that the latter is refusing to step up for whatever reason.

Gives me hope that the scouting team still have an eye for a talent, although you wonder whether this was another one we have been tracking since before Walsh left.

If Claudio does go, I really hope we find out whether signings such as Benny, Hernandez, Musa etc were all his own ideas or indeed they came from our established scouting team.

Hoping Wague is going to be another N'didi, Kante type discovery, as on paper, he is very underwhelming!

He was certainly our best player by far. It was quite worrying

however, to see him getting frustrated several times when he had the ball

and our movement was so poor he didn't have a forward pass on.

He was fantastic, but he was partially to blame for the third goal as he let Mkhitaryan drift away and instead decided to mark no one as an extra CB between Fuchs and Huth.

He's young and we've seen with Amartey how much a young player can improve when playing regularly, but let's not hail him as the saviour quite just yet.

if we can get him running higher up the pitch off the ball to assist the press & win possession high up the pitch, I think that's when we can make 4-4-1-1 work. Like Kante, Ndidi surely has the stamina and intensity to help press high & also track back into his own half, in the space of a few seconds. Drinkwater wants to be the main man, the one that sits deep and sprays passes. Let Ndidi be the one to press high off the ball, like Kante did.

If they want to do a straight swop Id take Pogba in an instant.

Pogba looks a bit ungainly but the guy is a monster of a player.

Ndidid looks capable TBF

lol Musa was scouted by Steve Walsh for some time. He even admitted to flying to Moscow to scout a player in an interview.

Spent the second half wondering who he'll be playing for next season.

Already a good player at 20, plenty of mileage in the write-ups he was getting from the Genk fans on here.

I still have SOME hope for Musa. I think he unfortunately suffers from being a player that is neither a winger or a striker.

His best position is wide left of a front 3, which of course we have not been playing.

At the moment though, and only based on the very few times I have seen him, he doesn't really look good enough to be a top player for us.

Players like Gray and N'didi seem to have much more impact on the game, and you can see glimpses of them making a real long-term impact for us.

Too early to write him off, and hope we can find a system or position that suits him best or he can adapt and become a striker or winger. I would say it is unlikely, but not impossible.
