David Hankey Posted 7 February 2017 Posted 7 February 2017 Still 14 league games to go and no-one apart from Derby County (miserly 11 points) were doomed at this point of the season. As some on here are so convinced of our demise I suggest you have a punt on the Lottery this week!!

We have been poor for most league games this season. We have a defence that can't defend, and an attack that can't score. And an impotent midfield. There are currently not three worse teams than us, so I would say that we are down - and I can see a beautiful symmetry of us finishing bottom this year. Don't know how, don't know why, but there it is. Writing has been on the wall for a few months, and nothing has changed imo to show that there will be a miraculous improvement (or even a small improvement). So, I am in a relatively good place - would rather it wasn't so, but for the sake of my sanity I had to through the whole shock/bewilderment/frustration/anger/disbelief/more frustration thing, and I think I've come out the other side... Peace Just my tuppence worth Ommmmmmmm - I admire your level of control! I on the other hand will opt for the more tense, painful and stressful route and hope something turns up!!

I haven't seen anything much that indicates this is just a bad patch, and things will get better. Of course I hope I'm wrong, and feel free to beat me soundly with a clapper if we stay up... It is very hard not to be pessimistic at the moment but there is many a twist and turn yet.If the stick our glorious champions are getting in the press and social media does not spur them into life nothing will, they are quite rightly getting ridicule left right and centre and being made to look mugs by the disastrous form so we live in hope the penny has finally dropped.
foxy boxing Posted 7 February 2017 Posted 7 February 2017 is this the same fan last season that was making his piece that we wouldn't be winning the premier league! and then just look what happened! so if's he's made his piece that we are relegated we should be staying up!

jayfox26 Posted 7 February 2017 Posted 7 February 2017 I said after the Burnley game that I didn't think we would win another game this season and I'm sticking to that. I too have started to come to terms with the fact that we will most probably get relegated this season. As disapointing as that is, nobody can take away the fact that we won the premier league. I'd much rather have won the league and get relegated than be a plodder like west Brom or stoke etc that won't get relegated but will never win **** all!
matty98 Posted 7 February 2017 Posted 7 February 2017 I actually like the championship anyway. Get more games and you don't have people getting up every 5 minutes to go for a piss.

The major negative is that we'd 100% lose Riyad and I'm not sure when we'll see a player as good as him play for us again. There's plenty of positives to take out of going down though. It would provide us with an opportunity to move some players on that are on large contracts. We will have the spine of a good team at that level and would be set up to go straight back up. I think we'd be able to retain Drinkwater Amartey Ndidi Gray Okazaki Albrighton Barnes Chillwell Musa Ulloa King Kaputska I've probably missed some... I think Zieler and Mendy would return back to Germany and France respectively. I'd hope we could persuade Schmiechel to stay with us but wouldn't begrudge him wanting to move on. If he did then I'd be looking to keep Zieler if possible. Would look to move on Simpson, Morgan, Huth, Fuchs, Vardy. Slimani would probably go to China. If the defenders can't be moved on, they can be back ups till their contracts run out. That'd leave us with the task of buying a right back, 2 centre backs and probably a back up full back either side. Simpson can stay as back up right back if needed. Potentially we could have Zieler New Amartey New Chillwell Ndidi Drinkwater Albrighton Kaputska Gray Ulloa/Okazaki To be fair that team would piss the championship. And it's not that hard to bring in very good championship players, it's just hard to bring in very good premier league quality players. In the championship we could have the pick of all the best players as once Newcastle go up and maybe leeds, only villa could really challenge us for signing players

China Black Posted 7 February 2017 Posted 7 February 2017 We were in a worse position 2 years ago, yet stuck with our manager and managed to stay up. I wouldn't give up yet.

STUHILL Posted 7 February 2017 Posted 7 February 2017 According to The Times, many of the players, and Ranieri, will have to take a 40 percent pay cut if the club are relegated. Leicester reportedly included the pay cut clauses in the new contracts signed by the team's senior players, such as Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and Danny Drinkwater, as well as new signings such as Islam Slimani. Hope this is true, as would help massively, not only if we get stuck with some of them, but also make players more likely to want to move on, as they could get similar deals elsewhere. One of the only smart things done by the management if true, as could have been quite easy to get carried away and not consider relegation after such a dominant season. Still means players like Vardy would be on 60k a week, but would save us a bucket load and make it easier to sell them with their blessings. Should also make these players realise how much they have to lose if they do get relegated! More reasons for them to sort themselves out, the better!

Ok our defence is leaking like a sieve at the moment but lets not forget we have a new loanee ready to step in .. and ... Amartey played a blinder at AFCON as a centre half. When Slimani and Ulloa get fit they might bang a few goals in and even better help Vardy to bang loads of goals in ! I would drop Mahrez and play Gray all the time. I expect a good cup run after seeing off the Shaggers and Millwall ... but concede we MAY not get much further in the CL ... but who knows ?!? I read it about the same as you. I also think to achieve it that it needs fight, and unless he changes drastically, Gray in for Marhez every time.

That's the spirit but I have us knocked out versus Seville (no disgrace great team). A good cup run beyond Millwall and 6th from bottom in the Premiership. Free humble pie to be served by owners at last game haha!

We can't defend - concede very poor goals - and on the other hand don't create chances. This week is a big week. I don't think Ranieri can afford to lose to Derby (with it being Derby) and definitely Swansea. We have to beat Swansea too, don't want to be drawing and definitely can't lose. 8 hours ago, sharonlcfc21 said: Could happen ? I'm neither a Pearson nor Ranieri ite, but just thinking, I think we survived on 42 points that season given the 9 wins in 11 finish. As we are on 21 with 14 to go, does any one realistically think lightening will strike twice to get those 21 we need. And tbh I do think given the closeness of the bottom 5 we will need at least 40. 21 from 14 games?
