foxes21 Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 do 5live mean Pearson is co-commentating for a radio or tv show? (just realised how boring that would be to listen to)
The People's Hero Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 I thought the 'what happens when idiots get their way' thought experiment had already been run in the US?
st albans fox Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 would make sense for 5live to ask him to pundit for them. maybe he feels enough water has passed under the bridge now. Where did the 'guest of the owners' stuff come from? Some wind up merchant on Twitter?
Babylon Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 Not sure Pearson is the sort of person to even do that anyway to be honest, unless it had been spelt out to Ranieri that it was entirely a gesture of good will between them and nothing more.

He's the sort of person to tell our own fans to 'fu ck off' and to strangle opposition players, so not sure what your point is here? He's a bit unhinged and a PR disaster for the club. Ranieri on that front as the affable man of football is clearly more the owners' 'cup of tea'. Pearson is basically just unwritten headlines waiting to be written. He's not for us or our owners and I for one am happy about that.

Guest Manini Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 Not that big of a deal is it really lads?

Bringing a former manager to an away game as guest of the club when Ranieri is very much under pressure is a big deal IMO. What must Ranieri think of that? If this is all true though. Haven't seen any proper evidence yet.

He probably feels exactly the same as Jose Mourhino with Alex Ferguson sat 10 rows behind him every game. this sort of thing happens all the time, if he's that weak minded that he can't deal with a former manager sat in the stands watching a football match when the owners have unequivocally given him their support, he's in the wrong game.

Nigel is there in the studio with the radio presenters. Gets asked about change in fortunes. NP says about amazing achievement; this year has been difficult; quite sad that there's been so much negativity; important to try and think about 14 game season from today; put to bed any criticism. Asked about Vardy and insight in to him from NP's view and his request to go back to Fleetwood. NP said he just reassured him and gave him confidence along with other staff members and that they'll stick by him. Few question marks but he'll come good according to NP Asked about inevitability of our plight this season - talk about a book by Pat Riley about innocent success then 'the disease within' i.e. money, contracts. NP says possibly an inevitability but not overly sure. For a club of Leicester's stature and players that played last season - absolutely amazing. 'The zenith of their careers'. Understandable there's gonna be a slight difference this year. Top of the league all big sides have started to perform well again. Different complexion in the league. Everyone disappointed at this season but it's still in our hands. It's tight but that's the nature of the league. What strikes NP is that some players' interviews say how they don't even know what's going wrong. Dressing room has to stick together and stay strong. 'Can spend a lot of time talking but actions are louder than words'. NP also says no relegation issues sorted today, still a long way to go. Asked about insight in to possible spats and arguments and friction between managers and players - NP says it's not right to talk about on national radio if he did know. He suspects if there are problems, they'll sort out internally [I very much agree with this!] Club statement last week was 'sensible' in NP's opinion. Club will be reluctant to make changes especially after last season. It's only right to try and find answers with people that are already within the club. Sacking managers is too easy. Asked further about dressing room - 'what does 'losing the dressing room mean'? in a nutshell NP says players have lost confidence in the manager. Manager has to earn respect of players, show strong leadership, sometimes make tough decisions that aren't universally accepted or liked. Players do respect strong leadership regardless. Temptation to look at all the negatives compared to and because of last season. NP doesn't think manager has lost the players. Clearly need good results - Leicester City were bound to have a season where they weren't going to go as well but bit of a shock it's been this bad. Asked more about manager/player relationship - if manager does lose dressing room & players no longer believe, how does manager get players back on side? - NP says he's sure it is but never experienced it in his career. Results make a huge difference to the situation. Leicester probably everybody's favourite 2nd team - gave people hope in a league where big clubs dominate. Everyone wants a positive outcome as a result. Negativity surrounding situation hopefully will be erased and helped by club statement last week. Feels Ranieri is very confident about turning fortunes around. So basically absolutely no mention of being a 'guest of the club' today . Clearly just bought on to chat Leicester City and current situation between manager and players. That puts that one to bed!
StanSP Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 More from NP about 46m 50s talks about rugby and Eddie Jones. Then from 48m 05 talks about mental strength and if it can be 'coached'. Talks about culture it is developed in. Not much else about Leicester at all. Even when they say bye to him, it's never mentioned that he'll be 'guest of a club' or even attending the match

Ahhhh....the conspiracy theorist's ammo....he's acting "all nice" to convince the owners he's a changed man and can be cool, calm, collected and a thoroughly nice guy....sort of gizza job
matty98 Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 The rumour was started by Indykaila on twitter, highly doubt it's true.
Stevosevic Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 So it's all nonsense....this forum is going down hill

He would not take up an offer in public. Not that it would happen but he would want it signed and sealed and have the job before doing anything public.

Doing something in the heat of the moment is an entirely different thing and you know it. Telling someone to feck off, who deserves to be told to feck off is a very different thing to disrespecting another manager currently in a job, which is what's being suggested. He was always respectful of other managers, never commented on speculation. Whatever you think of him based on a couple of incidents over 5/6 years doesn't take away from the fact he was actually a nice bloke who people liked when they worked with him and was respected by them.

He's also the bloke who took over our club at their lowest point in history, dragged us off the ground, put a bit of pride back in the club. Won two league titles, kept us in the Premier League and lay the foundations to last season's success. Should be a legend of this club and deserves a lot more respect than he gets from a section of our supporters.

Benguin Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 I think a commentator is called Nigel Pearson.
MC Prussian Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 He'll be up there trying to single out the twat who once verbally abused him - in the past few months, Pearson has perfected his stranglehold approach and will surely be open to a "debate".

I still have nightmares of that time he nearly killed Macarthur, it's a wonder he's still able to play football nevermind being alive to tell the tale.
Charl91 Posted 12 February 2017 Posted 12 February 2017 Never understood the hatred some give Nigel. We'd still be milling about in the championship (at best) if it wasn't for him. 2 promotions, premier league survival, built a great team on a shoe-string budget, and he still gets stick? We have a tough crowd here.
