Huth, Wes and Simpson AKA the hoof trinity™. Why Can't Claudio stop them from chipping aimless balls?

Both Morgan and Huth looks shockingly uncomfortable on the ball, and this is not helped by the fact that Drinkwater is so reluctant to retain the ball..maybe turn, face forward, look up and play that piercing pass through the middle. Instead, Drinky goes for the easy option of playing it straight back to them and we get deeper and deeper until it's played back to Kasper..he boots it up and we lose possession.

Mendy for Drinkwater

Mahrez on the wing with Slimani up with Vardy

Just not sure Mendy is any improvement...

He has never really been given much of a chance and never will be with one of Ranieri's blue eyed boys in the team.

Ranieri genuinely hasn't a clue

I imagine come summer wherever we are there will be a mass exodus of players who just aren't given a chance or played in the wrong position

Ranieri has signed 2 out and out defenders in two years. One has gone back to Spain after 6 months and the other is playing U23 games against Cheltenham. We don't have alternative CBs because Ranieri and his recruitment staff have messed it up. This Wague bloke won't play either so our only hope is Amartey to be moved back to defence

it's because they are under so much pressure that they just hoof the ball( hit and hope) rather than a pinpoint cross to a teammate none of the defenders actually feels comfortable on the ball and the more time they spend with it the more likely they will make a mistake.

Morgan isn't half the time though that's the problem, seems to have been given some sort of weird quarter back role and he's shite at it.

It IS the tactic. Yes the players have limited footballing ability but this is something that they are clearly TOLD to do. It is the quickest way to get players BEHIND the ball: no matter if we are defending or attacking HE likes players behind the ball.

The second half yesterday, Swansea just let Morgan and Huth have the ball until they gave it away. We need to play 3 in central midfield so one can come and collect the ball off the centre backs and still have 2 other options in front of him to pass 2. Haven't been too impressed with Mendy yet but one thing he does do is stay pretty close to the defenders to get the ball.

Every time he does the little 'skip' before he lofts it forward, I cringe. I still can't be mad at him though, it is what it is.

U23s are told to welly it up the pitch asap

He needs to stop it, just play it to a midfielder! it is clearly a tactic because several times he had time on the ball but decided to lump it to no one.

Same with Huth. You know he is about to lump it forward when he does about three steps back and lumps it to the other teams' defence.

I have no problem with hoofing if you have the players to do it. Launching it up to a target man who wins it and creates something is acceptable. That doesn't happen though.

We hoof and hope!

as far as i'm concerned they should have dropped simpson months ago, every game i've watched, all he does from the off is back off and back off, i mean he looks scared as soon as he walks on the pitch... mindless oofing of balls up the pitch, i wouldnt mind if they were even half accurate, watch him next time, all he seems to do recently is some "big arm", oof it up field, then stand there blaming everybody else around him, soo many times just standing there ball watching then suddenly realises their attacker has broken past him and is already 10 yards ahead... grrr drop this guy, yeah he can make some good defensive decisions but for the past few months its been nothing but the same old same old grrr

I actually think Simpson has done quite well this season but for me he would have been the first player to replace in the summer.

In the modern game you can't have full backs who aren't comfortable on the ball and offer something offensively. I don't mind playing a holding midfielder who can slot in between the centre backs when needed like Dier does for Spurs but to have full backs that can only defend is outdated in the modern game which probably suits our dinosaur manager.

U8s, U9s, U10s, U11s and U12s are told to do the same, by the time they reach 13 they are expected to at least be able to control the ball and pass it.

When I saw the back-4 line yesterday, I felt underwhelmed.

Simpson and Fuchs struggle to make accurate, effective passes at times; whilst Morgan and Huth are becoming bombscares with how they go about both tackling and trying to go forward.

The worry is only Chilwell is the only best decent option, long-term, as he's both young but has shown that he can already do it at this level - which is good as it he's from the club's own academy and hence never spent a penny on the type of player he is/we need.

Becasue we have no midfield and they run out of options. It's obvious isn't it and doesn't require over analysis.

Not true really. Ndidi was screaming, waving his arms around, telling them how shit they are, trying to ask for the ball, collect the ball yet they still kept lumping it. Shit footballers with nothing else in the locker is my opinion.

They could at least boot it into the corner or over the defenders heads. They put it in the worse place for our attackers (in front of them) and the opposition defenders don't ever have to face their own goal and can instead attack the ball.

Benaloune showed he can pass it out against Derby, and he doesn't have led weights. That alone should be enough to give him a run in the first team.

Chilwell - great composed footballer (god knows what has happened to Fuchs).

Even Amartey has legs and some passing ability.

Is it it so obvious that we are missing something...?
