CL Quarter Final Draw

Recommended Posts

First team out plays home leg first...tie 1 and 2 are played first night, tie 3 and 4 second night. So if we are in match 1 or 2 and the draw goes LCFC v Dortmund, we play home v Dortmund on 11th April, and away 18th April. If we are match 3 or 4 and draw is Dortmund v LCFC we are away in Germany on 12th and home on 19th.

99% sure that is how it works from review of UEFA rules, and seems correct from last 16 draw.

Surely the fact that there are three Spanish sides involved and two German will make UEFA want to spread across two nights if they can.

E.g. If the three Spanish sides come out in the first four balls then I'm sure they won't play both ties on the Tuesday??

I am so excited for tomorrow I feel like  a child on Christmas eve waiting for Santa!

I really hope we are drawn second above all else so that the second leg is at the KP. Would much rather be at home for the second leg so that even if we lose the first leg we can have a real go in the second.

I would love to get Monaco, as I feel that although we would still be massive underdogs, they are beatable if we have a bit of luck and play to our ability.

If not Monaco I would love a glamour tie, Real Madrid or Juventus for me would be best. I'd rather go out to RM than BVB.

Whoever we get though what an experience this is!!

Would like Monaco to progress further, but it would be crap to go  out without face one of the real big boys, like Barc.

Can see us getting Dortmond!

Got a feeling we will take Real Madrid. 4-1 down the kp with a 2-1 defeat at madrid

We will lose 2-1 in Madrid.

We will be winning 1-0 at home and Ramos will pop up with a 93rd minute equaliser to make it 1-1. He has a habit of bailing his team out with important late goals.

Yeah probably more likely lol

I genuinely don't think any of them really WANT to play us. For reasons stated by buffon. We're so capable of beating anone on our day that even though they could thrash us we could turn them over just the same and they all know it. We'll always be the underdog and everyone of them will have to scrap for everything.

We've won the mind games against these teams just by getting to the last 8 in the first place.

And then Andy King scores the goal of the decade in the 94th minute to take us to extra time, where the scoreline remains the same, so penalties, where Kasper saves them all.

The problem is when both Madrid clubs draw in fixtures 1 and 2 so don't take that as gospel. UEFA like to keep teams of nationality playing apart as well to ensure bigger TV audiences, so for example Bayern and Dortmund like to play on different days.

Correct - the order of the draw does determine which team is home/away first leg, but not potential dates. These will be announced within a few hours most likely.

Everyone seems to want Barca, which of course would be incredible, but I think my fear of getting humiliated would take the edge off the excitement for me, especially if the away leg is first.

I just can't see how we'd play our usual high press on such a big pitch against arguably the best passing team in the world. The alternative would be to sit back, but we've seen how bad we are at that, we can't even contain teams like Swansea and West Brom!

I don't want Atletico either, as although they are below Sevilla in the league, their defence is so formidable that we'd struggle to play our style of play against them.

Monaco is probably the 'easiest', if you can call it that, followed by Dortmund, but I think Juventus would be a nice balance. One of the biggest clubs in the world, but not quite at the level of Barca, Madrid or Bayern in terms of quality.

Hotels in Monaco aren't too expensive if you aren't looking for glamour. No more expensive than somewhere like Dublin for the same level of comfort. It's only when the Grand Prix is on that it's unaffordable to anyone who has to work for a living.

Food and drink is another matter though. You won't get a decent meal for less than €30 for grub and €7 a pint.

Also the taxi system is really weird. You can't pre book them. You have to find a special phone on the street to call one and there's only about 20 for the whole town/country. It's not far to walk to the ground from anywhere but it's surprisingly hilly for the most part so if you're an unfit bastard like me, you probably will want to look into finding a bus lol

Most of the teams left can play around our high press. However we've seen in the past there are certain teams we do not press high against (the past 3 games against Man City & Arsenal away last season spring to mind) and instead stay in two banks of four and press only in our half.

I'm sure we won't expose ourselves by trying to play a high press.

Monaco away is only 950 tickets - would be a  shame for so few to see our quarter final but I guess it does present more of an opportunity to get another outing if we beat them.

Man City got 1,400 odd

Really?

more than they needed to give unless 1400 is a UEFA minimum allocation

as far as the dates are concerned, if we are playing Tuesday 11th then Everton will have to be moved from the 9th. Currently a sky game so could they move it back to Saturday? That would mean sky having to move an existing Saturday game to Sunday 4pm. Wonder if sky can swap Spurs v Watford from  the sat noon fixture with our Sunday?? Have a feeling that we will be leaned on by sky to try and get our first leg game on the Wednesday (if we are asked by UEFA for preferred day)

saturday 15th is palace away and there is no game following the second leg as spurs are in the cup semis
