Lots of hype for this guy. Whether he can step up to the Premier League might be tough but I've heard he is very good.

Well we did sign Vardy when he was 25 so you never know...

Hmmm but Vardy had bagged a few in the fa cup. He also came into our squad and struggled. But a 23 yo for the u23's makes little sense.

Hey I hope it works but I think we won't here much about him.

Hearing deals like this being done gives hope to English football for the future. :)

I'd have thought it made perfect sense. He's had a couple of trials and done well, you can't keep the lad on trial forever, so we've decided to get him and give him more time to see what he's like. It will cost pretty much nothing in footballing terms. Chances of him making it are slim, but there is no harm in it at all.

Is this guy part of Vardy's agency?

Not sure what training/playing with a bunch of kids will do for his development but if he signs then I hope he becomes the next Vardy.

23 years of age for the development squad?

He's actually only 22 - born 10/10/94.  His details on the Stafford Rangers website (Joshua Gordon) say that he joined them, "in October (which October I don't know) from Nantwich Town, began his career at Stoke, before having spells at Alloa Athletic and Peterborough" (it doesn't say if it was for their First Teams).  Interesting that Stoke let him go - possibly after Loans.  Mind you, wasn't Jamie V an Apprentice at Sheffield Wednesday and let go to non-League - and he's done OK !?

Isn't 23 usually the age we realise that people wont make the step up from the Dev squad to the first team and ship them out to teams like Stafford Rangers?

Could be the next Jamie Vardy. Could be the next Aman Verma. Sometimes it works out. Most of the time it doesn't. But then it doesn't work out with most players in a club's academy. It's worth giving the guy a shot. If he can apply himself and has the ability, you never know.

No he isn't. V9's choices so far have been a bit laughable given some are on professional contracts.

The ideal world you give this lad pre season to get in pro level fitness, a few games for under 23s and then look to loan him at League 1/2 level.
