The whole world smiles Posted 7 April 2017 Posted 7 April 2017 When Radio Leicester first hired big Matt i thought it was going to be a bit of a mistake. I didn't remember him being a particularly engaging interview during his playing years. But he has really grown into the role. He clearly does his research and takes it seriously and when he talks it is usually worth listening too. In fact he is better than a lot of the pundits who do national TV and radio. I'm chuffed for his as he seems a top bloke and is a genuine club legend and i hope his new careeer keeps going from strength to strength.
davieG Posted 7 April 2017 Posted 7 April 2017 I think it shows that you shouldn't judge pundits or any media facing people too early as it usually takes time to get to grips with it. Of course after a while you can tell whether they are going to make it or not.
TiffToff88 Posted 7 April 2017 Posted 7 April 2017 It's still not enough to make me listen to any show that involves Stringer
Ted Maul Posted 7 April 2017 Posted 7 April 2017 On the Fantasy Football Show tonight- sometimes it's vaguely worth watching when they have ex City players on
HybridFox Posted 7 April 2017 Posted 7 April 2017 I do miss Alan Young at times but agreed Matt Elliot has been a more than adequate replacement. Generally on the same wavelength as many of us. Be interesting to see how long Jason Bourne stays or whether he'll eventually get moved elsewhere by the BBC like Charles Dagnall
Gerard Posted 7 April 2017 Posted 7 April 2017 Elliott is an excellent pundit. He always gives an honest opinion but in a diplomatic way.

Guest Lako42 Posted 7 April 2017 Posted 7 April 2017 He's a bit too monotone for me, but he is usually very accurate and non sensational in his views. Also, when someone asks him his opinion on something he usually makes an 'ahhhhh' type sound as though it's really hard and he's in minor pain. Other than that I quite like him

stretch1965 Posted 7 April 2017 Posted 7 April 2017 Add carragher and Lawro to the above and my oh my what a complete tool box we have for pundits
NewEnglandFox Posted 7 April 2017 Posted 7 April 2017 I'm a big fan of Matt Elliot. Agree with him on most things.
Koke Posted 7 April 2017 Posted 7 April 2017 I like Elliott. He isn't a sensationalist. He's generally on the same wavelength as we are. Slightly different question but why does Stringer pronounce Mahrez different to the rest of us? Even BBC and Sky commentators don't pronounce it the way Stringer does..
lcfcben76 Posted 7 April 2017 Posted 7 April 2017 Sat very firmly on the fence when he first took the role but do think he is very decent now
dynamark Posted 7 April 2017 Posted 7 April 2017 Matt was hilarious a few years back.Positives and negatives.Players eeerh have to take responsibility. Its eeerh eeerh game of two halves. I happen to know a certain person who said you never use the word lovely and he opened up the next commentary with ,welcome to a lovely day here at Stamford bridge. Hes into it now though much better than most of the TV dross may have a new career.

Izzy Posted 7 April 2017 Posted 7 April 2017 I just can't understand Elliott's thick Scottish accent. Apart from that he's O.K...

BoyJones Posted 7 April 2017 Posted 7 April 2017 They were both excellent at the KP Q & A last night with Guppy and Walsh. Elliott had a real sense of humour and Taggart is a natural on stage. Gone up in my estimation big time and whilst I first thought Elliott was a bit naff, he's actually very clever and can be eloquent and erudite when required. Guppy and Walsh both on form as well so I think the 500 who were there had a good night, with quite a lot of dirt dished. Entertaining evening.

Finally got around to watching his Sky Fantasy Football appearance and thought he was great. Very knowledgable and very well spoken for a big yob of a player! Rachel Riley looking incredible too.. oh my

Entertaining evening. agree. surprised a thread hadn't been started about legends night. Thought gups was q sharp, gerry really funny and matty very good speaker. Oddly the least comfortable speaker was walshy imo. Well worth the £10 for whole night's entertainment and for a good cause. Couldn't believe walshy signed pic webt for £500! Signed shirt for the same may be a bargain. managed to get my tranmere cup final pic signed by trio (minus walshy) at the end. Recommended.
