EGBFitness Posted 13 April 2017 Posted 13 April 2017 Would of took a 1-0 before the game tbf. Would of been great to get an away goal but think it would of been disallowed somehow even if we did manage to score. Great defensive display! Only chances they had was long range shots. Think we knew the game was going against us so was a case of bringing them back here with a one goal deficit and Vardy playing. They was clearly trying to get Vardy booked too to miss second leg. Greizmann is different class!! What an amazing player to watch live! Think the tie swings in our favour, dont think they fancy coming to us, Vardy playing and only a goal advantage.

Under Simeone, Atleti never 'go looking' for a goal after taking the lead. They restricted themselves. They believe they've done enough, and so do i. Before the match Simeone expected a tight score in Madrid and said that the tie will be decided at the KP where more goals will be scored. He's been proven right util now. Very excited about next Tuesday but I'll also think we'll see a different Athletico than the one in the second half.

Rome, after all, wasn't built in a day. But just grumbling, backing off and chucking in the towel doesn't help anyone. It is the strategy of the uncommitted, or, worse still, the coward. Let's stand strong, fight back, make a mighty noise and get Atletico moaning about the ref next week. Of course re: you last sentance. You have however, having slated me for not standing up and fighting corruption, conveniently not stated what you yourself are going to do about it.
Ricey Posted 13 April 2017 Posted 13 April 2017 Statistics suggest that a team taking a 1-0 lead into an away second leg go through 67% of the time. Add to that Ateltico's unbelievable defence and the fact that the match will probably allow them to play their preferred counter attacking style = a very tough match. It will be nothing like the Sevilla second leg, where they played beautifully into our hands.
kingfox Posted 13 April 2017 Posted 13 April 2017 After last night fans can't wait to take pics with the legendary Yohan Benalouane.

That's what makes it so interesting next week and I can't wait to see how we line up and approach the game from a tactical point of view. I think we're going to need to score three to have any chance of progressing, which is going to be mightily tough.

Question though - why is that 5th official not on the opposite side to the linesman? I know the referee is supposed to cover that side but whats the point having 2 officials so close to each other? Feel if we had a stationary ref close to that decision the right call is made Great idea...but you forget like many, he doesnt have the same powers as the linesman. They are always totally ignored, unless ref wants a cop out. They have been put there, just for show...to show the fans the authourities are at least trying to do something. Obviously been informed not to contradict on pitch descisions unless eye contact Or ear piece request. If anyone else as seen anything that might convey or prove anything different.......???

AmarteyAndChill Posted 13 April 2017 Posted 13 April 2017 What happens if one of our players gets sent off on Tuesday and we don't go through?

Atheltico, unlike any of the other teams left in the champions league, don't pride themselves on their attack or style of football. Its all about the defence, hence it was one of the worse draws for us. How do we break them? Certainly the first leg didn't give us any clues. Personally i think we have to hope for a Ndidi 25 yard special or a set piece goal.

Incredibly defensive side and can easily take a 0-0 if they really need a result agains anyone in world football. Will be tough but you never know
dynamark Posted 13 April 2017 Posted 13 April 2017 Agree not sure how we score against these they are so quick to cover everything..May have to be via forcing corners and free kicks playing down the sides .Good on the floor but not great in air ,Is Marshy free next Tuesday?

They really struggled to deal effectively with the long throws. Shame Huth will be missing in the 2nd leg

First leg did give clues as our possession will go from 25% to 55% at KP, this will give Mahrez an Vardy more touches of the ball an more chance to influence, if we can keep it 0-0 until last 15 mins we can role the dice an have Vardy an Slim on the pitch. I would start the game 4-5-1 at the KP, an ask Mahrez to support Vardy when attacking to make more of a 4-4-2 in attack an get him to recover to Right mid in defence, an ask 1 of the 3 CM to give cover to Simpson if needed.
justfoxes Posted 13 April 2017 Posted 13 April 2017 Whatever happens and I really hope it's a win for our lads i for one am so proud of how far and how well we have played in the champions league, going further than any of the English so called big boys of the Premier League for one thing we have represented our country full of quality and passion!! may we carry on to dream of bigger things to come in the champions league ! ONWARDS AND UPWARD AND IN LEICESTER CITY FC WE TRUST !!
The Quick Brown Fox Posted 13 April 2017 Posted 13 April 2017 I can't help but picture CS smiling, walking past and looking at Simeone after we've just scored in the 93rd minute to go through 2 nil (no handshake). That would be wonderful

Never argued otherwise, I actually said it was a dive in the post you quoted. But spotting that was a dive is harder than seeing griezmann was outside the box. Anyone seriously defending the refs decision is a simpering idiot.
orangecity23 Posted 13 April 2017 Posted 13 April 2017 Mahrez's dive was less of a dive than about 60% of the free kicks Madrid got in that game. If that was at the other end of the pitch he'd definitely have given it.

Down the other end though.. ref gives that all day long!
orangecity23 Posted 13 April 2017 Posted 13 April 2017 Eaxctly - everyone gets so hung up on one dive by Mahrez, when the entire game was littered with diving, mainly by Atletico. But somehow, we shouldn't get a decision because its a dive, whilst Atletico's more blatent dives were rewarded time and time again. It's the number one annoying thing in any refereeing performance - inconsistency. Madrid were free to get stuck in whenever they felt like it or needed to stop a breakaway, while our defenders had to constantly tread on eggshells to avoid touching their players, to avoid getting booked.
