It's funny when you look back at the absolute car crash that was les reed as a manager at Charlton... he's saved his rep and turned into one of the best in the business as a DOF

Pearson would be an amazing DOF

If he's available for 12 million then I'd be for trying to sign him. Could give us a bit more attacking impetus from midfield.

I'd actually have Delph, £12m isn't much in this summer's market and he's a decent player.

A decent player who would certainly improve our Squad and for 12 million sounds cheap. Only doubt is injury worries but with plenty of cover is worth the risk.

I also wonder what his contract demands are, if he's looking for 80k+ then I wouldn't bother.

He's probably on something like that with Man City. But yes I agree with you, but it could be on a Bonus arrangement to top up a decent basic if he plays so many games.

Yeah, I mean if he plays to his potential for us he'd be a hell of an addition.

A bonus based contract based on appearances would be my top priority though.

I like Delph but am I the only one that thinks 12m for him is a bit much?

Virgil Van Dijk would cost £60m. Not a direct comparison btw, but the market is mental. I'd read £12m today like £4m was when we were promoted three years ago.

And it turned out really well, didn't it? Career move up the ladder, so to speak...

I think Southampton is trying to teach a lesson to VVD and all their players that try to make pressure for a transfer.

José Fonte last year also wanted a transfer/leave Southampton and they didn't want to sell him.

Fonte really made pressure to leave, and he went to West Ham. I guess West Ham paid Fonte a lot of money.

Fonte did move up the ladd€r.

He's a 32/33y footballer playing in a foreign country.

He only had this season that ended and 2, maybe 3, more seasons as a football player in such high level as Premier League is.

Why he would he move from Southampton - where the supporters loved him, he was the captain/skipper of his team and had in his team Cedric Soares, a portuguese mate -  to West Ham?

All about money.

Being 32/33y he signed a contract for his retirement.

Plays more 2,3 seasons in Premier  and probably returns to his country, maybe playing 1-2 season for a portuguese low/mid tier team, making a few more €€. And his career his done.

He's played a handful of games and Man City will make a profit from Delph lol

Hehehe indeed. That 8 million release clause at Villa was almost as bad as Kante's :P
