We lost to Arsenal away. The way some on here moan you would think we lost to a league 2 club. Shakey had lost 2 league games in 8 that's nit a bad return.

i don't know if he is right man for the job but give him credit we went to Arsenal and lost to a deflection.

This forum goes into meltdown as soon as something goes against us.

Naive...maybe

I sometimes wonder if I'm watching the same game as some of you lot.

Mahrez was virtually playing left wing back the whole game.

Argggghhhhh fkin hate arsenal more than any club. Shite fans and shite cheating players.

Gray sub was way too late. Craig got it wrong tonight. But i dont expect him to deliver us everything. If we close out the season losing he next few he wont get the job.

At what point do we play for a win and not a draw.

People actually questioning Mahrez again? He was the only one who tried to play the ball forward on the floor tonight and pit in a good shift. Morons

Mahrez doesn't seem to go past players like he used to anymore but people singling him out AGAIN can get in the bin tonight. He was the only one with any quality on the ball, first time passes amd actually looking comfortable with it. How about singling out the others who treated the ball like a bomb today

I have to agree to disagree.

I made a point of watching him for this game and he did have a few nice touches but so did others in our team.

We all saw his league winning season, do you honestly compare that Mahrez to this one and feel that he is on his game for us?

Not in a million years.

Shakespeare allegedly Pearson's tactician; that's now looking like the truth.

He may be a motivator, but he's no tactician; no attempt to win the game this evening, and their goal so predictable.

Being reactive as opposed to the proactive version of last season I s what dooms us to failure.

Gray on with one minute of normal time is ridiculous.

Mahrez should be dropped, every game he is our opponents best player in that he continues to give them the ball, as opposed to our own players ffs. When will people wake up to this?

Abit it harsh he changed things against atl Madrid and it nearly came off.  i agree Shaky got his tactics wrong today, he played for a draw but nearly got it.  Personally i would have liked us to go for a win and lost 2 nil.

We are only going to win, of we play our pressing game, Shaky has to realise that

Why do we always seem to lose to Arsenhole in such a dodgy way and why the FUCH do Arsenhole always celebrate a goal against us as if they've won the fuching League ??!!:vardy:

Because paying attack v defence for 80 odd minutes generally results in the attack getting at least one goal

i felt we had a chance tonight if we had played it right. Why play two up without shinji?  Means we can't press the ball. Thought shakey got his tactics the wrong way around. Should have started with shinji.

Diving on the ground blatantly looking to get players sent off has nothing to do with attack v defence for 80 mins. They threw themselves on the ground last season and done the same tonight. How many times have we sat back on a result (becoming an attack v defence game) and seeing the result out.

Shakey got his tactics wrong? Have a word with yourself. We lost 1-0 to a deflected shot that was way off target! Yes we sat back but Arsenal never really threatened us! We denied Arsenal space behind us how they like to play, especially playing Walcott and Sanchez. I don't see nothing wrong with playing Ulloa tonight, Arsenal aren't the most physical of sides and sitting deep allows us to either give Vardy something to chase or a target man in Ulloa to allow us to push up in numbers. I'm usually sticking up for Shinj but he had a poor performance tonight for the time he was on, poor control, passing and should of done better with his chance when Konchesky was injured.

I'm finally starting to think Mahrez either needs dropping or even moving on. Let's face it, he's had a fookin dire season really. At times he remains mercurial, at others it's not worth having him on the pitch. Surely we could recruit another winger (or give Gray a real go) who couldn't be any less effective than Mahrez when he's like this?

Whats up with him? Is his mind at a bigger club or has he just been 'found out' by opposition defences.

He remains possibly our best player, but he's got to do more than this.

He's been hugely frustrating this season.

There is a line of argument that we left something in the locker for Saturday (which seems a more winnable game). I would suggest to have gone for it and tried to get the first goal tonight would have been far more rewarding.

Disappointed with tonight but heh it's gone now and I don't think we deserved anything out of tonight's game. We better shape up for Saturday now otherwise we are beginning another slump - 1 point now from the last 3 games. I'd like to see some fresh faces but I honesty don't think Shaky believes he can choose too many options. There's a trust issue here and I think Shakey doesn't really have faith in the backups for the first 11. Possibly King for DD or WN in midfield, but we are way short there without Mendy now. Upfront - er we have no other options bar Demari.

Of course it was a disappointing as we had done enough to earn a point.

Very disappointing but we cannot dwell.

Where are we in the league compared to them? They did the double over us last season when we won the league. They've got internationals in every position. Get real.

  •  In the first match last season, Arsenal were flattered massively by the score-line. We actually played better than we did today, the only difference was Arsenal could finish. That Arsenal was also a better team (they came 2nd after all). We at least showed ambition in that game. In the second match, we only lost in the last minute, after having a (pretty unjust) red card for a good portion of the game.
  • Irrelevant. We have internationals in most positions.
  • Doesn't matter where they are in the table; should we sit back against every team in the top half?. They were destroyed by Palace recently and also had 3 put past them by West Brom. They're in poor form, and had just played 120 minutes this weekend. We'd just had a week off. If we were ever going to beat them, it was today.
  • Where were our subs? Why did we only make 1, until the 90th minute?
  • Why were we trying to counter attack with Ulloa, the world's slowest player?

It was a poor performance, and I don't fault the players for that one bit. The buck stops with the manager. No ambition at all, it's like Pearson's first season all over again.

lol, what about Albrighton's end product? What are his goal/assist stats compared to Mahrez.

i'm not saying he's been great this year, or certainly not as good as last year. It's how he's constantly singled out. It's completely wrong

Only thing that makes them feel like  champions

Those defending Mahrez ??? the guy is miles off it, look at the work rate and effort other players are putting in even if the quality isn't always there. I genuinely can't believe people feel he offers a threat, the only threat he's offered is that of turning possession over. He holds on to the ball for far too long and as a result potential attacks break down because of it. Yes it's great when he cuts in and out on the edge of the box but not when you know his ball is going into the keepers hands at the near post of not beating the first man following a feeble attempt at a chip.

Can't remember the last time we beat Arsenal - and didn't deserve to win this one.

Counter attacking it wasn't...just deep defending

Lets move on - need 40 points so I can relax a little

Posted

Also, I'm tired of the "deflected shot" argument being a defense.

If you sit back and let teams ping balls around your goal for 80 minutes, then odds are something will eventually go in - deflected or not. That goal was only a matter of time - the only gutting thing was that it came so late on in the game.

But we put King on at half time in the away leg, cost ourselves the chance of ever getting an away goal, and put ourselves out of the tie. Again, refusing to put Gray on in that tie too.

Shakespeare's far too defensive.

I despise Arsenal.  They always seem to get that bit of luck against us.  They hardly did anything to penetrate us and in truth, we were quite comfortable in containing them, even if we didn't create anything ourselves.  I somehow knew they were going to score though.  So very annoying!!

Totally agree, we showed no attempt to win the game and deserved the loss

Ahaha, I bet you were waiting on that Arsenal goal, crouched over your keyboard since the last game just waiting to ****ing criticise that performance.

You're such a massive ****ing melt - so predictable it's unreal.

@seenitall is one of those types that would happily be relegated in order to prove him right and be able to come on here gloating saying I told you so.

Massive melt as you say, probably has no other contact with City fans or indeed normal human beings outside this forum

Feel a bit for Shakey tonight. Not the best tactically but 3 minutes away from a very respectable point and very few would be moaning. Fine margins innit?

Just knew we were going to concede think we are not playing with much confidence or fluency and although goal was a fluke you make your own luck.Could be nervous few weeks and this is where Shakey will need to be positive
