Arsenal Post Match Thread

I hate Arsenal, but they were sloppy and soft today, they were ripe for the plucking, but we didn't make a serious effort to attack. This second-tier mentality needs to change, and now is the time to try to play some attacking football.

FFS, it would take so little to double our quality chances each game. Let's see what Chilly and Gray get us, there is very little at risk now.

Everyone went on about our games in hand, they were Spurs and Arsenal! We were never going to get anything out of them. We MUST be West Brom, it's as simple as that.

No it's not at all, wins against Bournemouth and Watford and 3 teams can't catch us.

Swansea lose against Man Utd and Everton and Boro draw one game between now and the end and we are safe.

no stress

To the ones who missed all the action late into the game:

Sanchez stood right in front of Fuchs during our throw-in. Wouldn't move. Fuchs complains. Two attempts at a throw-in. At the third attempt, Fuchs whacks the ball straight into Sanchez' face. lol

Probably my highlight of an otherwise absolutely forgettable game.

It hit Sanchez shoulder....

His acting wasn't that great but it fooled you.

First time I think Shakespeare got it wrong tonight. We never had a proper go at them. I think next season we should be competing for 7th, currently occupied by Everton. I wouldn't expect Everton to go there and play so negatively and neither should we. Got what we deserved really.

He went for the draw and failed to get it

No-one went in for the draw.

Apart from a couple of our players.

Benny showed real class tonight :appl:

Because he got a yellow, he can't get a retrospective ban for his foot on Giroud's back, correct?

How the **** do we get cheated with a late goal by these pricks every season

What an embarrassment of a club they are. Players, fans, management.

I really wish one our lot would twat these ****ers to give them something to roll around the ground for.

Because paying attack v defence for 80 odd minutes generally results in the attack getting at least one goal

i felt we had a chance tonight if we had played it right. Why play two up without shinji?  Means we can't press the ball. Thought shakey got his tactics the wrong way around. Should have started with shinji.

This was a very strange game. We couldn't string more than two passes together more than a handful of times and we looked quite desperate in defense at times. We were dominated so much, which was partly our own doing. That said, we had by far the better chances and should have put at least one away. Yet once more Arsenal do the trick on us.

Didn't see the chance at the end properly. Did Gabriel wave the ball away with his hand as Huth and Kasper were so vehemently insisting?

Defended extremely well and we were horribly unlucky with their goal. Ultimately we were lacking upfront as a result of playing so defensively, which wasn't helped by having Ulloa at the focal point of our counter attacks. Not starting Okazaki and the delay in making subs are the only criticisms from me.

Swansea will beat Everton, Sunderland & West Brom imo. Hell it wouldn't shock me if they got a draw against draw specialists Man Utd.

Everton - lets be honest, one week they are good the next they are crap. Also Swansea are at home.

Sunderland - easy win for Swansea.

West Brom - when has a pulis side ever won the last game of the season?! They are on the beach.

We need 1 more win.

Exactly, NOW IS THE TIME to see what we have going forward. No reason to continue ignoring obvious opportunities to improve. It is time to let some of the younger players get on the pitch.

it's the inevitability of those lucky tw@s getting a late og or pen that does me in.

Hurts more than any defeat bar Burnley this season. Can't remember us getting any slices of luck recently. Gutted.

For all those saying were safe it will be very interesting to see how we deal with being within 3 points of being caught. Tonight imo was a missed opportunity, we smelt blood yet did nothing. A point at least would have looked respectable, poorest Arsenal performance against us in many years.

We played defensive, we didn't go at them, and we lost.

One sub before the 85th is unforgivable, especially when that sub is Okazaki. Not good enough Shakespeare.

Ridiculous comments, Arsenal defended well and passed the ball about well, they didn't look like scoring but they weren't going to roll over either. Why do people think we can just turn up at Arsenal and claim the points at a canter? That league win has gone to some your heads.

Might be on my own here, and he did win a lot of headers but I think we saw why Benny will lose his place to Morgan as soon as Wes is fit. Silly challenge on Giroud could have received a harsher punishment. Also played himself much deeper than the other 3 at times and was lucky other passes were not picked out.

You know, what does Shinji do apart from his running. His footballing skills are atrocious. I swear you could pick a fan from the ground who was in good shape and they could easily do what Okazaki does. As a footballer he adds nothing.

Other players get criticised. Mahrez, Drinkwater etc but this guy steals a living at times.

I saw a few times where Mahrez could've got to the ball easily in their half. Just watched it.

Gone from my favourite player to the one I won't miss if he goes.

Didn't see the game but followed the thread and Sky updates.

Seems mixed bag of reactions here. What seems most disappointing to me if as reported by many is the apparent lack of ambition to grab the initiative either tactically as a set up or through replacements in the game.

A point would have been good especially as Palace look like losing. But we should be safe - another win should do it although more would be great. CL aside the season has been a down part of the Foxes' rollercoaster.

I suppose when you spend 90 minutes passing the ball straight to Arsenal when you have possession the result is inevitable. Just suprised it took so long. Awful performance and the only reason it wasn't embarrasing is because Arsenal were shit.
