What's so great about Everton? How many trophies have they won in recent years?

Bigger club, more fans, Europe, experienced tried and tested manager, weren't anywhere near a relegation battle last season, never relegated.

Like it or not, we're probably not viewed as much better than club sports like Palace, Stoke, West Brom etc.

For one season in the Mickey Mouse cup

Exactly. Why are people suggesting being in the Europa league is an attractive proposition for players?

Some players didn't want to come to us and we were in the CL ffs, let alone the Europa league.

Depends if the recent title win holds any weight given our increased revenue it might add an extra million or two on to their salary which often makes the difference. I don't get how Palace pay so much, they must be on course for a spot of bother.

The Europa League is the equivalent of the EFL Cup

Money is definitely our trump card, the extra £80m from the champs league can make a big difference.

Offload Mahrez to Everton on the condition they cool interest in Gylfi. Mahrez is going somewhere anyway.

He won't go to Everton - a sideways move at best. They will have the mighty Bolasie back from injury, old man Barry in midfield and the wonderful Ashley Williams at the back to welcome Mahrez.

It would be an insult to us if he ended up there.

He may aswell stay at Swansea then? He's not gonna progress with us if we keep selling our best players is he?

If you don't try and sign him you won't have a chance. Have a go make him a good offer, if he goes elsewhere so be it. But hopefully it's an early decision

We have to do it now! Move fast and don't wait until they've sold Barkley and Lukaku and can outbid us.

I'd suggest from a neutral point of view Everton would be the better choice. Shakey really is a unknown despite what happened last season...implying that logic he may feel Everton could offer him more stability...yes we might offer bigger wages, but if all goes tits up and we end up in a relegation dog fight he is back exactly where he doesn't want to be.

But what's to say that Everton are a better bet? Shakespeare played a key role in leading Leicester to the Premier League title and then got us through to a Champions League quarter final. Koeman hasn't done that. He gets alot of media hype because of his playing career, and he once played for Barcelona etc, but how good is he really for the massive salary he is being paid?

100% agree on all of our targets if possible.

No real managerial experience other than the stint towards the end of last season. Taking the job full time is a completely different ball game and last season means nothing. I agree Koeman hasn't really done anything, but he still has a good reputation.

Offload Rudkin to anybody and then you are talking.

I agree that we don't really know how Shakespeare will fare, now that he has the job on a permanent basis. He did turn things round after Ranieri's departure, but there was some evidence of tactical naivety in some games.

Koeman has a good reputation, mainly because of the three titles he won in Holland with PSV and Ajax. Without being unkind, it's not a strong league. He didn't do so well in Spain and Portugal. He's done good jobs at Southampton (but so do Pochettino and, to a certain extent, Nigel Adkins) and Everton (but so did David Moyes and Roberto Martinez).

If you think this will happen you're deluded. Happy to be proven wrong.

Sadly I'm in agreement

most of the people in the country who think LCFC is on a par with Everton are living in a county in the East Midlands. We are in a period where we could establish ourselves in their company but we would have to make Europe again next year via a cup win and to extend the stadium thereafter.

We could likely only snare him by offering him a bigger package - however, I wouldn't have thought he would have gone back to swansea after his Spurs experience if it was just money which rocked his boat.

Why do people on here think we can outspend Everton, we are a more attractive option or that we are as big a club as them?  I'm Leicester through and through but come on!

I'd bloody love us to sign sigurdsson though

Because we made mad wedge off the Champions League, because we've got sizable investment from our ownership, because we probably make about the same as them on match day revenue, because I doubt they're even that much far ahead of us in terms of merchandise revenue and because they're no more likely than we are to offer enormous salaries.

Everton have reputation and prestige over us, that's really about all.

They've not won anything for a very long time, don't look like breaking the top four any time soon, are more likely to lose their top players than sign new ones (just like us) and they haven't just taken the world by storm in one of the biggest team-sport stories of this millennium to date.

We should be enormously marketable to a player of Gylfi's level, if we're not then we're seriously lacking in ambition and quality in our recruitment, quite frankly. Everton are exactly the caliber of club we should be competing directly with and not feel inferior to.

They will be losing their big star, Lukaku, and he will be hard to replace. I don't rate Barkley, but he may be off as well. I'm struggling to come up with any other players who they have who are really good. Most of the top players will go to teams in the big six, and not Everton.

Tom Davies looks top quality to me.

Problem is our story is in the past.  Everton have a billionaire owner also, a considerably bigger name manager and a very good squad.

We should certainly be after players like Gylfi but i think Everton are a bigger draw than us.  Outside the top 7, i think we can compete with anyone.

We need to show ambition signing The likes of Gylfi and Ben Gibson would show the likes of Mahrez that we are serious about competing for Europe, and vice Versa.
