Recruitment

After watching that men against boys show it really hit home how poor the recruitment has been.

Craig Shakespeare reckons there will be a few leaving and few coming in.

Well I reckon we need at least 6 players and that's with out anybody leaving

GK

RB

CB x2

CM x2

The scary bit is that we have spooned millions on rubbish only N'didi can come out with any credit, so if it is Rudkin that is in charge of transfers then I'm worried, can he be trusted?

Im just glad that we didn't get these injuries 10 games ago as we would of been doomed.

2x cbs, a ball-playing cm are the priority. Beyond that it's a rebalancing of the squad job - we shouldn't be in a position where three injuries has us throwing together a side with no recognised cbs for a reasonable chunk of a game.

Someone should be held to account for the repeated transfer failures from last summer through to this January. Millions wasted on unproven players with no premier league experience. One hopes lessons have been learnt this time around.

A new keeper because if Kasper goes I don't fancy Zieler as a number one all season. 2 new centre-backs, a right back (left side is fine for now), at least one (maybe two) centre-midfielders, possibly a winger and definitely at least one striker.

Think we need to go for more 24-26 year olds who have enough experience but can give us decent service in their prime, our main defence are all over 30 now and that unit will be broken up soon enough.

Just get a midfielder who won't turn to absolute shit for 2 months of the season.

Who is responsible for having signed Amartey, Musa, Mendy and Slim?

He needs locking up.

Mendy has been on the mendy all season long. I'm withholding judgement until next season.

Amartey poor, Silm is 'meh' at the moment, Musa is just not a fit at this level it would seem.

I'm not confident at all that the players Shakespear will be able to attract are going to be anywhere near as good as the ones we are going to lose in the summer

After tonight that's a worrying thought

Recruitment is huge this summer for the fans optimism of the upcoming season, big money spent last year, an I did think it was strange at the time that we didn't get a CB last summer, (not counting Hernandez) the champions league/ league win provided the optimism last summer. The recruitment is what will need to that this summer, regardless of where we finish this season.

We are a very ordinary, dare I say absolutely shit team outside of our main starting 11 and a couple of others.

Recruitment needs to be one of the best we've had in a long time this summer if we're to push on from here.

We need a LOT of very decent players otherwise we are in big trouble next season.

Well Hernandez does count and given Huth/Morgan's form at the time, getting just 1 CB in was reasonable..

I rated Hernandez at RB when he was here and think he would have done well at CB. Malaga's not doing badly at all, looking at their last 10 results.

Spend the effing money on real talent not the musa's amd amartey's of the world. None of this diamond in the rough bollocks. That worked in the championship and served us well the last two seasons but we need to buy some proven talent if we want to hang with the mediocre and big boys of the prem league

I can't see how that is an over reaction? Without our main starting 11 we are crap lol and it's been like that for a while lol

Am I right in thinking the scouting set up is a bit of a mess since Walsh's departure? Not good when recruitment needs to be the best it's been for a long time.

There's zero evidence to suggest it's true other than one dead rubber against the best ball playing team in the league.

Up against most other teams there is every chance that would not have happened.

We don't need a lot of players, we need a few to plug a few obvious areas. We aren't going to lose 11 starters to injury, we've lost three and that's about the worst we've had it in years.

People's passions getting the better of them.

Trouble is last night's performance won't make recruitment any easier for all that we were considerably under-strength.

But that recruitment is clearly vital, and the sooner we get on with it - and get it right - the better.
