dayday Posted 6 July 2017 Posted 6 July 2017 What exciting times if we sign him, our squad is starting to look very good. Interestingly that would be the 3rd player over 6ft that we have signed this summer.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 6 July 2017 Posted 6 July 2017 I don't even dislike the thought of Deeney that much but if we paid the same figures for him that we appear willing to be for Iheanacho then we have no business buying players.

sdb Posted 6 July 2017 Posted 6 July 2017 Gut feeling is this isn't actually that close yet. Ok we've agreed a fee but there's plenty of potential stumbling blocks to go yet. Hope im wrong. Him and Vardy, with Slimani and Okazaki around too would give us one of the best sets of strikers around.
jock2612 Posted 6 July 2017 Posted 6 July 2017 If this is true it is a REAL statement of intent and a superb acquisition.
Stadt Posted 6 July 2017 Posted 6 July 2017 Iheanacho isn't very good in the air, he's tall but doesn't win headers

AS78UK Posted 6 July 2017 Posted 6 July 2017 Said it before, but if we get him and Gibson we will have the foundation of a team that could be around for years & years..... Buzzing for this to happen....

This would be a good deal but that hardly makes up for the huge wasted opportunity of last summer....yet. Still, if this goes through and we can get a good attacking midfielder in, things are looking more rosy.

Now we'd have all three. All we need now is another right back (Sig would be nice though) WTF happened 12 months ago??! I wish we'd appointed you as Manager last year!

Random comments just being thrown about now. is it too much to ask to have some mature people on this forum?

In all honesty I don't think we *need* a player like this, but what is so exciting is it gives us a team with Maguire, Ndidi, Gray, Chillwell and Ihenacho that can become a strong nucelus for a long time. This player is still really raw but his finishing speaks for itself. Gabriel Jesus is a fantastic player but honestly I think that only Man City and Guardiola would let a player like this go. He has the potential to grow into a 20 goal a season Premier League striker. He could be a lynchpin for us for many years. What? You don't think we need a player like this? Another goalscorer? What if we don't sign another goalscorer and Vardy gets a serious injury? Do you honestly think any or a combination of Oka, Ulloa, Slimani, Deeney can help us progress? If so, you are probably mad.

Buzzell Posted 6 July 2017 Posted 6 July 2017 Is there any talk of an actual buy back clause in the deal?
Clever Fox Posted 6 July 2017 Posted 6 July 2017 Only 15 pages to go I suspect before confirmation. If we can pull this off it will be a real statement of intent from Shakey and the Owners. If Deeney is also coming I suspect that Musa definitely and either Slim or Ulloa will go. i hope this happens.

You and so many others keep mentioning Gray but there's every indication he doesn't even want to be here unless he's guaranteed this or that in terms of game time. I don't see the lad as a committed Leicester City player but simply someone looking out for himself. His head seems to be turned by every report of interest in him. He's signed a contract and all that should matter to him is giving his best towards justifying that contract. If he's not in the team then the answer is simple. He should play better when he is involved. To do that he should be getting his head up (not down) in training, seeing the pictures, making good choices and impressing on the manager that he's fit enough, durable enough, talented enough and committed enough to make a positive contribution. I wasn't impressed with his recent plea to give youth a chance. I'd highly doubt it would go down well with team mates and there's no "giving" involved. Everything has to be earned. And it'll be exactly the same wherever he goes.

We won the title with the same team we have now except with Kante instead of Ndidi. Since then we brought Islam Slimani, one of the top scorers in Europe for a club record fee, who has proved he can score in the Premier League, even if he hasn't been a complete hit. Compared to our Centre Back situation (prior to signing Maguire), it's not essential to buy a player like this, it feels more like a nice to have. Don't get me wrong I think it's a great signing and a very exciting one at that, I'm just saying I'd personally prioritise another Centre Back and a more creative number 10 type ahead of Ihenacho. It's just an opinion. And of course, there is a reason why I am sat at home on a Football Forum and not the manager of the almighty Leicester City Football Club :). I'm just a fan having my say!
lanefox Posted 6 July 2017 Posted 6 July 2017 When the odds go that short its pretty much a done deal then

So it's just person terms then? if in principal Man city agreed that a 25m bid is an acceptable initial offer. My point being is that Kelechi seems keen and we are keen then I'm activating my chopper tracker. I might even trace our helicopters too.
