That's quite the game changer for me and it makes me really excited! I love Shinji but his position in the team is the one where I feel a quality addition could have a massive impact. How Ihenacho will adapt to a team that is not possession intensive and without the technical qualities of Man City will be a question mark against him, but whenever I've seen him play I've always been highly impressed and surprised he hasn't been given more of a run out. I hope the club can improve his work rate as compared to Man City he will have a ton more running to do. We always play better with Shinji in the team, he's proven it time and again. There have been quotes that he is "ecstatic" about the move and I can understand why. If he's been promised his favorite role and the opportunity to play in the same team as one of his countrymen who is the same age as him, he will be buzzing. Ndidi has been a constant first team regular since his move, so he will believe it when Shakespeare tells him he will get the chance to play. So we are getting a hungry, motivated highly promising player in a position that could do with improvement. Sign me the hell up!
Hack Posted 7 July 2017 Posted 7 July 2017 1 hour ago, SheppyFox said: Manchester City and Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho will in the next 72 hours undergo a medical at Leicester City after a fee which could potentially rise to £29m was agreed for his transfer. The 20 year old have already agreed personal terms on a five year deal which will see him earn twice his current pay at Man City, hence making him the highest earning Nigerian player in Europe. Iheanacho is expected to bid farewell to his City team-mates this weekend, bringing to an end an unhappy one year spell at the Etihad under coach Pep Guardiola after his breakthrough two seasons ago. As exclusively reported by this portal, the forward has been promised a new role by Leicester City coach Craig Shakespeare, who plans to play the forward in his favourite position behind the main striker. His imminent move to Leicester City will bring the number of Nigerian players at the club to three with Wilfred Ndidi who joined the team in January, and Ahmed Musa who joined them last summer completing the list. Awesome news. Maybe this might help Musa having a countryman in the team with him? One can hope. Vardy, Slimani, Iheanacho, Okazki, Ulloa, Musa front line if all are firing is a damn strong strikeforce.
Hack Posted 7 July 2017 Posted 7 July 2017 1 hour ago, StriderHiryu said: This is the most interesting article yet, confirming his position and role in the team. I'd imagine that's the end of our Siggurdsson pursuit, although Boudebouz might still be on given he can play on the wing or as a 10. I think this will be great for Ndidi too. Having one of his best friends on the pitch and at the club will bring out the best in both. Not true if Marhez does go. Sigurdsson may well be the next one in if we use the Marhez money!
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 7 July 2017 Posted 7 July 2017 13 minutes ago, ClaphamFox said: Iheanacho would play second striker, replacing Okazaki. Sigurdsdon is a creative attacking midfielder, which we badly need. You seem pretty sure about this. So we would be playing 2 up front, 1 in behind and two CM? I think he may may simply take Shiji's role; 4 - 4 - 1 -1 most of the time. Lets see.

Milo Posted 7 July 2017 Posted 7 July 2017 I have nothing left to moan about now...what am I going to do??!
Lesteban Posted 7 July 2017 Posted 7 July 2017 Iheanacho will probably become the long term replacement for Vardy. Could do much worse, hopefully Vards' legs still have a few years left in them.

deep blue Posted 7 July 2017 Posted 7 July 2017 If it's true that it's 25 mill rising to 29, does anyone think that we've maybe managed to exclude the buy-back clause in the agreement? We might have been in a position to do that with W Ham backing out and leaving us as the only serious bidders. Also, people on here have often talked about smokescreens. I wonder whether the recent revival of our interest in Deeney may have been exactly that, given the coincidence of the timing and the fact that, had we pursued Deeney as an alternative, Man City would suddenly be faced with the prospect of no suitors for Iheanacho.

No mention of a buy-back clause? It must be in there, surely!?
