They don't seem to be doing all that well:

Group A

Pos Team Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts Qualification   ZWA KVK OHL EXM LIE W-B
1 Zulte Waregem 5 4 1 0 16 5 +11 13 Qualification for the Europa League play-off semi-final   3–0 2–2 5–1
2 Kortrijk 5 3 0 2 9 7 +2 9       2–1     4–1
3 OH Leuven 5 2 1 2 9 7 +2 7       3–1 1–2
4 Excel Mouscron 5 2 1 2 8 10 −2 7     2–1     1–1
5 Lierse 5 2 0 3 4 10 −6 6   1–4 0–2   0–3
6 Waasland-Beveren 5 0 1 4 3 10 −7 1   1–2   0–2   0–1

Quite possibly the most confusing system I've ever seen.

They are actually doing well. They are outperforming teams from the division above and the other teams from the second tier (including the other group). Both of their wins came against top flight teams and they are the only team to take points off Zulte

Standard Liege finished 23 points behind the leaders (Club Brugge) before the league split and only got into the Championship play offs on the last day of their regular season. They are now 1pt behind Club Brugge having played one game more... what the **** lol

There were a group of, I think, Belgiums at the match last night. Didn't have King Power jackets so probably not OH Leuven :dunno:

Seemed to be guests of the club in the West Stand posh seats.

It was the Belgium U17 team who went to the match as they are competing in the U17 Championships nearby..

There was a group of lads getting off a minibus with some Danish (Danemark) writing on their coats

according to belgian newspaper 'Het Nieuwsblad' 2 or 3 extra players (unnamed) will be sent on loan from Leicester for the upcoming season. If they are at the same level as Moore, we can be very happy about this.

With the way things are going at Leicester in terms of personnel and planning ahead for next season, I don't see it as overly unrealistic that you could be rewarded with one or two more experienced first team players.

How's Moore doing for you lot? He's been captain for pretty much the whole campaign - is he the rock in your back four? How do you rate him as a 21-year old?

Moore has been rock solid. Very consistent throughout the season, which is uncommon for players his age. Especially those that have not played first team football before. All in all our best player this season, and rewarded with the captaincy in the last few matches. We sincerely hope he will come back next season. Rumour has it that he would have to start practices with leicester in the pre-season (so the leicester coach can have a look at him)  which would be far from ideal for us in preparation for the new season.

You can have Musa, Slimani and Fuchs no problem

Choudhury, Hughes and Barnes the 3 best players from the U23?

I think most would agree, although Choudhury has probably been promoted to the first team. Maybe have Thomas in there.

Finishing third means you qualify for the AFCON.

5-0 down at halftime in tonight's game

Nige will kill him them in the changing rooms. Would be surprised if there's a team left to field in the second half.

The Lierse story is quite tragic, they were one of the oldest clubs in Belgian football and the last "small" champion (not a big team). Since their last title in 1997 it all went downhill really, they managed a cup win in 1999 but meanwhile dropped steadily in the rankings and with poor results also came serious financial trouble. They were one of the clubs named in a Chinese gambling maffia corruption case in 2006 (although eventually cleared of charges in 2008) and when they relegated in 2007 (Since 1953 the team had only played two seasons outside the first division) all signs pointed to an oncoming bankruptcy, before they were suddenly acquired by Egyptian investor group Wadi Degla (led by Maged Samy) in November 2007. Under Samy's reign the team did promote back to the first division in 2010 but remained a bottom of the table team before relegating back in 2015. Rumours of Samy wanting to sell the club became more common and when renewed financial trouble arose this season eventually the club folded, although until the final deadline they were apparently negotiating with takeover candidates.

Due to the bankruptcy of Lierse, bottom team Tubize was saved and no team relegated from the 2017-18 Second Division (or First Division B as it is officially called). Lommel returns to replace Lierse after relegating in 2016-17 and is actively looking for a foreign investor, as is Westerlo, the only current team still owned by a local guy. Soon all eight teams will be foreign owned.
