Lizhang Posted 12 August 2018 Share Posted 12 August 2018 Typical win under Pearson. Two central defenders scoring. Forwards not getting any service, no creativity in the squad, 39% possession (29 in the first half)... even Nigel himself acknowledged we didn't deserve the win.

The idea was within 2 years, or at least this was used to rally supporters behind the idea of the takeover by the board. Incoming transfers are hardly better than what the club realized before being bought by KP. We are still sorely lacking creativity and quality of play is terrible. To put it mildly. If the idea were 5 years, we didn't have to sell to a Thai company, we could have sold the club to local investors instead. In a league of 8 teams, it would be nothing short of asinine to aspire promotion in 5 years, when you are by far the most financially secure club of the league. We can only hope. You need to trust Leicester fans when they tell you to be patient. Whatever the Thais said about the short term when they took over they have a great long-term plan for you, and they've employed one of the best managers around to do it. And don't worry about promotion just yet. Under Nigel, we had 2 opportunities to get promoted in 2009 and 2013. Both play-off semi-finals that came down to last minute penalty misses by Frenchmen. If we had gone up at that time I still believe that we probably would not have survived; we just weren't ready yet. And like us last season with Europe - again, we weren't ready yet. There's no point going up if you run the risk of coming back down again. With time and trust Nigel will get you up to not just survive, but thrive.

You know your team is good when it plays like shit and still wins. Besides, possession isn't everything in football.

Babylon Posted 13 August 2018 Share Posted 13 August 2018 Who is actually scouting and buying the players for them? I massive part of our success was not only buying good players but players with the right attitudes that helped with the team spirit. If the scouting isn't up to scratch then Pearson is no miracle worker.

He is listed as 'Head of Technical Scouting' on the OHL website. Another ex-City man on their staff, is Paul Balsom - 'Head of Performance Innovation'. Interesting that all the OHL staff have English job titles - whereas everything else on the OHL site is in Flemish! I wonder when they are going to get an English website - for all us surrogate fans!
