Lizhang Posted 19 February 2019 Share Posted 19 February 2019 1 hour ago, SWFC_FAN said: It does seem the case. It was a very risky move by both parties. Pearson and Hirst were Wednesday legends, without question. Now I don't think they'd get much of a reception if they came back to Wednesday. Which is incredibly sad. Do you think you guys will stay up now Pearson has got the boot? What would the consequences of relegation be? Consequences would indeed, obviously, be a lower division, but we would drop to amateur level. The biggest problem would be for our youth academy. Only pro league teams can have "elite" youth teams. If we need to close down our elite youth ranks, this would be a huge blow and set us back 15 years in that regard. Our most talented youngsters would all just leave the club to join other pro teams. It should still be possible to stay up. After our 3-0 win on saturday, we moved away from last place. Once the season has ended (2 more games) there will be a relegation play-offs. Only the bottom team gets relegated. and we have more quality and talent than our main competitor.
Popular Post Chester Dontlie Posted 20 February 2019 Popular Post Share Posted 20 February 2019 (edited) This is more Kapustka oriented than general OHL but still relevant for all concerned. I just found a piece they did on him on a Polish youtube football channel Foot Truck. Its two guys who are, among other things, visiting Polish players all over Europe, and apparently they went to Leuven a month ago to visit Kapustka. It's all in Polish without subtitles but you can see and listen to Kapustka rapping about his career at 4:30. He actually does a very decent job at it after getting help from one of the best Polish hip hop musicians, who had ghostwritten the lyrics and the beat for him. The text is really decent and it's all pretty upbeat, you will have to take my word for it. What's more important though, among some humorous banter (they also ask the old 'Does having sex before the game help to relieve stress?' question***) they get to the more serious questions and at 8:26 he finally gets to say something important. KAPUSTKA: 'I think mentally and psychically I wasn't ready for what happens if something goes wrong for me and that something may slightly break in me... And now I'm working with a psychologist and I think it not only helps me to develop as a sportsperson but also as a human being. Back then [when he struggled for game time at Leicester/Freiburg - Chester] ... I don't say I had to face it alone, because I had my family, my girlfriend, my closed ones, but I was running away from it all, I kept it all [the feelings, disappointment/frustration etc - C.] inside. I didn't want to meet people, to talk about these issues over and over again [all his career struggles; lots of Polish sports press were circling around before and during his Freiburg spell, there were articles asking about 'What happened to Kapustka' etc - C.]... Surely it blocked my self-confidence on the training ground when I should be proving during each training that I deserve to get my chance... ' QUESTION: 'Was the low point, mentally, your spell at Freiburg, after you were turned back at Leicester and then manager Streich at one point puts you in the closet... Was that the worst moment for you?' KAPUSTKA: 'I played well in my first game, I scored a goal in the second, and then... I believed, it was the moment I truly believed I was turning it all around... Those weren't the first games of the season, it was 10th or 11th matchday already, so I really waited for those games [to finally be featured in - C.]... And suddenly the game with Mainz comes. I start the game in first eleven, we win it 2-1... by the half time it was 1-0 or 0-0 I can't remember exactly, I wasn't playing a disastrous game, I wasn't playing great either, but i got subbed [at 45th min - C.], then we won that game, and I was talking about it with the manager, he said 'I know you're disappointed but I'm satisfied with your performance', he said he would be playing me, then after a week I caught a slight sickness, I missed one training, then next game I was sure even if I won't play I will be subbed in from the bench. But then I read the [matchday] players' list and I'm not even in the eighteen. An that was I think the hardest moment for me, it was harder than at Leicester. It was difficult to come to terms with it. However that's how it is in football, sometimes someone takes your place... But surely, after winning that [Mainz] game, after having played two good games, it was a really big blow for me. [CUT] I feel like, most importantly, I have to prove something to myself, that it [his good spell in Poland team - C.] wasn't something accidental, and I want it to happen again, and I really strongly believe in it, and I think there are many good moments, not only in Poland team but also in [club] football, ahead of me.' I'm glad you're reading Foxestalk Bartek, getting a therapist is exactly what Doctor Chester ordered a while ago! It's the first time I've seen him talking about it so candidly which is definitely good news (btw I know there is a very good depression/mental health thread on FT as well and let me take a moment here to encourage anyone who in one way or the other is struggling with any mental health related issues to talk to other people about it, and if it's a long term issue, consider contacting a therapist. We are all human, nothing to be ashamed about, and it doesn't help when you keep it all inside like Kapustka did. Your age doesn't matter and It's always better to talk, reach out for help). So well done to him, and hopefully he can turn it around and prove his worth to OHL, Leicester and Poland. ***He says he never had it on a match day but once after he had some a day before, he banged two goals on a match day Good lad but not quite on the Wortho/Bestie's level (btw I think even legends like them would be better off if they had a therapist or someone concerned to talk to back in their days, at least that's my two pennies worth!) Permafrost Posted 28 February 2019 Share Posted 28 February 2019 Am I right in thinking that the only outcome to decide this weekend regarding the 'play-downs' is whether it will be Westerlo or Roeselare joining OHL, Lommel and Tubize? If so, which of Westerlo or Roselare would OHL prefer to be in the play-downs with them?

If so, which of Westerlo or Roselare would OHL prefer to be in the play-downs with them? That's correct. Personally, I prefer Westerlo to join us in the play-downs. We beat them 3-0 2 weeks ago, while we lost 0-1 against Roeselare 4 weeks ago (which resulted in Pearson getting sacked). A lot of the OHL fans think it's easier to beat Westerlo than Roeselare at the moment. Another reason why we prefer Westerlo is the fact that this is a little bit of a derby. Both stadiums are only 24 miles apart, so this would mean a lot of OHL fans at the away game (Roeselare is a 93 mile drive). Sunday is also a big day for Beerschot and KV Mechelen. Beerschot leads the second period with a single point, so a win against us will mean that they play a home and away game against KV Mechelen for the league title and promotion. If Beerschot loses or draws against us and Mechelen wins in Lommel, they're the automatic champions and will win the promotion to 1A (although they can still be punished for last year's matchfixing). sacreblueits442 Posted 1 March 2019 Share Posted 1 March 2019 ...seems to me OHL are the form team and will have a big advantage over Lommel, perhaps 3.5 points. The possibility of promotion to 1A next season really is a possibility with this present team and obvious addition next season. The Pearson sacking was a game changer!!!!
Lizhang Posted 3 March 2019 Share Posted 3 March 2019 (edited) Hardfought draw against the leader. 2-2 Kapustka started, but was again rather dire. Edited 3 March 2019 by Lizhang
Permafrost Posted 3 March 2019 Share Posted 3 March 2019 Decent result. Does that mean there’s a final between Beerschot and Mechelen for promotion? 2 leg or 1 game at neutral venue? and will the play-down dates be announced this week?

KingsX Posted 3 March 2019 Share Posted 3 March 2019 Not easy to figure this out without any Dutch/Flemish for the websites... Is this a six-match home and away round robin, with OHL starting three points clear? Appears those seven points from the last three brought you from dead last to a decent spot. 5 Roeselare 8 9 11 33 = 17 6 Lommel 8 7 13 31 = 16 7 OH Leuven 8 5 15 29 = 15 8 Tubize 6 5 17 23 =

Yes, Beerschot and Mechelen will play home and away for the league title and promotion. Since Mechelen finished 1st in the overall standings, they play the second game at home. March 9 at 20:30 Beerschot - Mechelen March 16 at 16:00 Mechelen - Beerschot No idea when the exact dates for the play-downs will be announced. Yes, Beerschot and Mechelen will battle for promotion, home and away. Unless they decide to punish Mechelen for their role in the corruption scandal. This is indeed the starting situation: 1. Roeselare 17 points 2. Lommel 16 points 3. OH Leuven 15 points 4. Tubize 12 points The team that finishes in last place will drop down to the amateur division. Edited 3 March 2019 by Bonanza
