Dan Posted 15 June 2017 Posted 15 June 2017 That is very odd seeing as he's already in a managerial job.
TheSomersetFox Posted 15 June 2017 Posted 15 June 2017 Interesting. I firmly trust in Shakey's judgement of the guy
AKCJ Posted 15 June 2017 Posted 15 June 2017 Be surprised if he says yes. He's got a good thing going at Oxford.

He's still Oxford manager isn't he? 7 minutes ago, Dan LCFC said: That is very odd seeing as he's already in a managerial job. I would think an assistant manager at Leicester with no disrespect to oxford is a step up and a damn site more in the bank.

Becoming an assistant isn't a step up when you're a manager though. He's done well at Oxford, I think they've made JPT final for two years running, dunno why he'd want to leave. I know he obviously knows Shakespeare from WBA though.
brucey Posted 15 June 2017 Posted 15 June 2017 http://yellowsforum.co.uk/thread/25751/mapp-leaving Seems Oxford fans have suspected this for a while?

Chico1958 Posted 15 June 2017 Posted 15 June 2017 Uninspired, but if Shakespeare wants him............. We have to believe it's OK He is ambitious as well, lets hope it works out

But he would know the finances and probably knows he's took them as far as he can. He can also perhaps accept they are punching above there weight.
foxes21 Posted 15 June 2017 Posted 15 June 2017 He'd be another person at the club with a Man Utd connection. Mike Phelan & Warren Joyce would be solid acquisitions also.
brucey Posted 15 June 2017 Posted 15 June 2017 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39006464 He might feel like he, together with Shakey, have a point to prove. Seems a great man-manager as well, from interviews with Oxford players.
LinekersApples Posted 15 June 2017 Posted 15 June 2017 Huge "signing" if true. A really well respected manager/coach in the game. the first time I've been excited about new blood in a while.
Thracian Posted 15 June 2017 Posted 15 June 2017 Can't see why anyone would be underwhelmed by this. The bloke's made something from nothing. All sorts could be a successful manager with limitless funds and limited financial competition.
st albans fox Posted 15 June 2017 Posted 15 June 2017 Imo would be a great addition, as long as he isn't continually looking for a championship job whilst he is here.
sphericalfox Posted 15 June 2017 Posted 15 June 2017 What attributes does him bring to the job despite working with zero budgets?
Wymsey Posted 15 June 2017 Posted 15 June 2017 Apparently Appleton's highly-respected, due to his work with England behind the scenes. He's got the experience and can imagine him working well with Shakespeare. Mike Stowell would probably remain as goalkeeping coach.
