UniFox21 Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Maybe with this guy on the pitch we can defend set pieces this year. And imagine defending a lead with Huth, Maguire, Ndidi and Iborra standing in their way of scoring
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Weaknesses - passing worries me a little for a centre mid, but lots of upside to this guy too. Hopefully he'll be one that comes in and surprises us all with how good he is like Albrighton, fuchs etc
HighPeakFox Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Lads, is there ANY EVIDENCE that we were ever within a hundred miles of 'getting Sigurdsson'?

I don't see any question marks, I think we need depth in the midfield and this guy is cheaper than Adrien who represents very similar qualities, albeit a little less quality perhaps. Iborra or King? Not hard to answer. I'm not excited by this transfer but I understand it and think it's a good one as long as we also pursue some more attacking / creative options. 7 minutes ago, foxes21 said: He can be our 'Cesc Fabregas' A creative spark that can come off the bench and change the game with goals and assists. Very good signing this. I give up. People are going to believe what they want.

Moksky Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Sevilla resigned Banega for about €9m from Inter, hence why they let Iborra go , we just agreed to paying over the odds, he was being touted for much less . Idiots are our club

Personally I wanted a sure fire starter to improve us over another squad player.

Sure, which is why I'm underwhelmed but at the same time I think Ndidi and Drinkwater are one of the best midfield pairings outside the top four and I think we'd have had to go all out to replace them. I'd rather big signings be in the defence or attack than the middle tbh.

ealingfox Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Have the same reservations as some and yes, we are taking one of their fringe players and not one of their stars. I also think we are overpaying. But he seems a strong character, experienced and sounds like a good bloke to have around. Also his stats and all that aren't amazing but he's coming from a stronger squad in a stronger league to us - surely he'll still be able to shit all over the Glenn Whelans, Jake Livermores and Mark Nobles of the PL?

Idiots are our club Moksky we are a club who are simply not attractive to established players - the end. To get players with pedigree who are not up and coming we have to pay over the odds - Rudkin et al have at least learnt that after last seasons transfer window.

Sol thewall Bamba Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 All I remember about this chap is how DD and Wilf gave him the runaround at our place. Will give him the benefit of the doubt of course
UniFox21 Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 It'll go either way, inler was a captain and came and wasn't amazing, Fuchs was a captain of his country and is one of the best LBs this club has seen. Guess we'll see, but a player doesn't rack up that many appearances for being sh1t

The way the premier league is these days, you need options, so you can play 2/3 different formations not only across the season - but sometimes in one game! This guy has a quality abut him, he's a winner, he's a leader - all characteristics se should be looking for in a player. He's versatile, giving us options to change the way/style we play should we wish to, he's experienced and come's to us at a peak age of 29 - which should help with adaptation to the league. There's a lot to like about this deal... it's just whether we're willing to see it. You do get low key, squad filling looking signings that turn out to be better than expected - Danny Simpson for example. Ok, there is also the glaring Inler exmaple in reverse, but his presence may well have helped get the best out of DD, so it wasn't all bad.
StriderHiryu Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 18 minutes ago, Babylon said: Can't find a single video of him passing... just a few goals, misses and clattering people. This is the archetypal Leicester Player, it would have come up from numerous scouting reports using our data analysis. Whilst we all get annoyed with constant hoof-ball, counter attack is our strong point and it strengthens a department we were already good at. We are never going to be a possession based technical team unless the Thais put hundreds of millions of their own money into the team on top of our prize money. Whilst I would still love to see a midfield of forward with technical ability added to the team, I think this is a shrewd signing that gives us more threat. We also need to remember how hard it is to sign players in the modern premier league. Every team has money to spend and are all going for the same players, hence why we are linked to the same players as West Ham and Everton. Paying over the odds to get a deal done is part of the modern game. The biggest question for me is if he has been sold against his will, which I suggest is the case right now because quite frankly who would trade Seville for Leicester as a place to live other than a sadist! But if he's motivated for the challenge and has a point to prove I think this is a really safe signing. Just look at the physical attributes of the guy, he's made for this league.
