Happy Fox Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 http://www.sevillafc.es/en/actual/news/sevilla-fc-and-leicester-city-fc-agree-fee-vicente-iborras-transfer Sevilla FC and Leicester City FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of Vicente Iborra to the British side, with the player yet to travel to Leicester to pass his medical and sign his new contract. Once the operation concludes, he will return to Seville to publicly bid farewell to the fans. If everything turns out as expected, Vicente Iborra will leave Nervión after four seasons full of compromise and will, bearing the armband as the first captan in his last season. Iborra has always shown an exemplary behaviour and has earned the respect and affection from all the sevillistas. Three Europa Leagues, 172 games and 30 goals are the numbers of a legend that will be remembered for his leadership on and off of the pitch, as well as by the dignity that he gave to the captains armband every time he wore it.
Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 This is a cracker. He will be technically very good and must surely improve our passing and ball retention.
foxy boxing Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 A decent midfielder who has plenty of appearances and goals for Sevilla. we need an experienced midfielder

NotTheMarketLeader Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Good now we can get rid of Amartey, and wave goodbye to Mendy who doesn't want to be here.

Lesteban Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Have to assume we are selling a CM here, unless we are switching to 352. Bit of an odd signing from a tactical point of view (he isn't the quickest), but undoubted quality and excellent value in current market. Well played, Rudders. Probably also means we won't be getting Siggy.
Finnegan Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Also, hate to piss on our own bonfire but they almost sold him to Sunderland last summer for 7m, he then went on to start only 12 games the season just gone and we were joined in sniffing around by West Brom. This is very much us adding to the squad with someone who's clearly been told he doesn't have a future as a major squad member at Sevilla as opposed to us pinching one of their beloved stars. I'll be surprised if he walks in to the team ahead of Drinky and Ndidi.

foxes21 Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 He can be our 'Cesc Fabregas' A creative spark that can come off the bench and change the game with goals and assists. Very good signing this.
martyn Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Obviously we haven't taken one of Sevilla's most talented players, but without exception their fans are absolutely gutted at his departure. Whilst most are alluding to his leadership and being the "soul" of the dressing room, to get such universal praise from a fanbase has to be correlated with actually producing on the pitch consistently as well. I mean, would Andy King get such a grand send off if he were to leave?

ALC Fox Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Sounds like we'll be improving the squad rather than the first XI. It has a whiff of a Gokhan Inler kind of signing this one, but I'm going to look at the positives. 1. Experienced 2. Highly respected 3. Leader 4. Present for one of Sevilla's most successful eras ever 5. Physical so should suit the division 6. Better than Amartey Even if he's only a bit-part player, hopefully it's the end of us biting our fingernails off for 90 minutes after realising one of Ndidi and Drinkwater can't play.
kingfox Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 It took us a bloody while but finally we might have two beasts over 6ft in midfield. @Col city fan will be in dreamland.
lgfualol Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Well he has a better pass completion than Drinkwater with pretty much the same average pass length, same chances created, it's just Iborra knows how to score. Drinkwater is better for breaking up play. Will be interesting to see who plays.
FoxinNotts Posted 4 July 2017 Posted 4 July 2017 Meh, not sure what to make of this one tbh. I think he probably sits middle of the pack in terms of ranking our central midfielders. - Drinkwater - Ndidi - Iborra - James / King / Mendy(not seen enough to judge) - Amartey
