Club Captain?

Should Morgan remain Club Captain, or is it time for a change?

Personally I think Schmeichel should get the role permanently. He's more vocal, more passionalte than Morgan. It might help keep him at the club at little while longer.

Thoughts?

There's more to being a captain than being vocal on the pitch and how do you know Kasper is more passionate than Morgan just because it's more visible not that I have anything against Kasper although I prefer my captain, on the pitch at least to be more central to what is going on, nearer the manager and all the other players.

Although i'm inclined to think the influence of the captain on the pitch is not significantly greater than any other vocal motivational player.

Off the pitch it's completely different role.

Hard to be an effective captain from the goal area.

I think Morgan will only play limited games for us this year...so, who then? I really cant decide, i dont think we have any out and out leaders in the side and thats a part of our problem.

Wes is club captain, I believe Kasper is vice captain? So I think he'll captain more games this year for us. Huth seems to be looked up to, and obviously Iborra was Sevilla captain for 2 years. I don't think an armband dictates on how a player leads the team. If they've got the personality to lead, they will, and I think that's only a positive.

wes morgan, probably, the greatest Leicester City captain ever... cannot understand the logic of our fans sometimes
he literally captained us to our greatest achievement, we won the league with him as our captain

Kasper is too emotional some time - he is trying to push us on but he is too hot headed (for all the right reasons).  Wes can be captain for a long as he wants to be

Every single player speaking about Morgan as captain has done so in a positive light, why take it off him? Don't need the armband to be a leader, and if he doesn't play he can still have an influence - like Terry last season

I don't think it matters too much. I imagine Kasper will likely take the armband in more matches next season, but Wes will still be an important influence off the field.

We have a lot of strong characters throughout the squad anyway. Huth, Drinky, Vardy and now Iborra will all have their say on a match day.

Agree with pretty much all of the above - He's unlikely to play too many games next season, but that shouldn't mean the club captaincy is taken off him. He's got the respect of the other players and has more than enough credit in the bank to remain club captain for this season and beyond

Morgan is great, but that accolade stays with Walshy.

I agree with an earlier post regarding Wes being one of our best ever captains!

But i do feel Kasper should be given the role on a full time basis

If he's to remain here obviously

Morgan captains us to Promotion, The Great Escape, The Premier League title and then into the last 8 of the Champions League and there are people who actually think he's not good enough for the role because he is shit in front of a camera.

Show him a bit of ****ing respect. He's probably the best captain we will ever have.

Yes 100% Capt Morgan - still got legs in him yet and will prove a few wrong this season

He has had 3 back to back seasons and this preseason will have had a rest ......out to prove a few doubters wrong.....be in the team versus Arsenal as Skipper!

Wes can continue to be the club captain, and be the link between the club and the players. But I'd imagine he'd be playing much less this season, and so we need a team captain for the match. I don't think it should be KS, as others have said he is perhaps too emotional, it is difficult to 'lead' from the back, and he is going to be vocal whether he is captain or not (which is ideal). So, who? A midfielder would be ideal, Iborra is too new, Drinkwater too moody, Ndidi and Chilwell are too young, Albrighton is too quiet, and Mahrez wants out. Vardy.. no. So, back to the defence, Huth possibly, Maguire is too new, Fuchs, possibly, but even harder to lead from left back, and Simpson is probably too quiet. It's a really difficult one, and you can see why KS stands in for Morgan.

I refuse to bet against Morgan.

When we got promoted I started a thread asking who should be Captain as Morgan wouldn't be likely to feature every game for us in the Premiership...

I got a fair amount of grief and many people suggested Drinky should do it and were even touting Drinks for an England captaincy...

How wrong I was.

Has to be Kasper to entice him to stay

Used to think the same but after seeing Kasper last season, I think you can be an effective captain from in goal.

The club captain plays a massive role off the pitch, Wes has been doing for years and we've been successful doing so, I see no reason it should change. Could upset the apple cart. A good link between players and management.

Hard to agree imo. Although I guess this could depend on what era you were growing up in. All boils down to opinion in the end but if you're looking at stats then I would say Morgan.

Walsh captained us to two play-off wins and a league cup final as well as establishing oursleves in the premier league.

Morgan has captained us to two title wins in our most successful period ever whilst re-establishing oursleves in the premier league.

Yup - I also like the fact we have a black role model in the form of a Captain too - as we have a lot of talent coming through the ranks who are non-white and I think its important.

Fully expecting Iborra to be wearing the armband by the end of the season

No chance, long list of people who would get it before a new fella rocks up and takes it.
