Schmeichel

Simpson - Maguire - Morgan - Fuchs

Gray - James - Iborra - Allbrighton

Vardy - Slimani

Subs:

Jacupovic - Amartey - Mahrez - Musa - Lawrence

No sign of Drinky there (even in the squad) !  Are you of a mind that he IS on his way to Chelsea ?!

Nacho to bag 4!

I really hope he plays. Might go at half time if he's not in the squad and the game is boring.

Only sold about 3k tickets for this so should be good.

If Slimani plays that means he'll be unavailable for the Arsenal one, must be in his contract that he can't play twice in a row

Probs putting Slim on the bench if Nacho is ready

First he needs to learn how to pass and shoot, Iborra and James have been better from what I have seen so far. Just my mad opinion :P

Borussia Mönchengladbach are a good side, but not that good. They've struggled quite a bit in pre-season, in particular finding goals. It all began with a 1-0 win against Wuppertal, followed by a 2-2 draw against Belgian minnows KAS Eupen (from the German-speaking part of the country). The Telekom Cup appearance - where a game is 30 minutes - resulted in two losses (both after penalties). As part of their training camp in Bavaria, they took the lead against a dominating Nice side with a super long shot by Hazard, but that was against the run of play, as they couldn't create much up front otherwise and lost due to two second-half goals. And the 1-1 draw with Leeds on the same day (earlier) was also hardly a showstopper. Lost 2-1 against Nuremberg, the recent 2-1 win against Malaga was only sealed by a late penalty.

They play what you could call "dry" football. Basic, simple, unattractive, yet effective.

So, what you're saying is that this game'll be pretty turgid and we'll lose 0-1 to a long range goal (AKA Kasper's one weakness)

They're effective when everything clicks, their weakness is the lack of extra quality in midfield apart from Hazard (Kramer's decent in a more defensive role, though) and also in parts up front: Hahn and Dahoud are gone, and next to Lars Stindl (who usually tends to play in a No. 10 role), 32-year old Raffael is their only other attacking threat right now. Drmic is injured, the other two strikers are unproven on a high level.

Btw, Hazard is currently listed as "doubtful" (achilles tendon injury).

You can see by their recent results that they have conceded in almost every single friendly so far (apart from the one against Wuppertal), so my guess for Friday is a somewhat disappointing 1-1 bereft of any real highlights. :D

I have an all day meeting on Friday, including the comment from my boss that he has "told his wife not to expect him home anytime early", so I'm sure with me not watching, it will be an amazing game! I think the only saving grace is that it's on ESPN3 for us here, so should be available "as live" when I do eventually get home!

Mrs HFox might not be happy with me coming back late on a Friday and then immediately putting the game on though! lol

Wouldn't mind seeing us try the 3-4-3 a bit more, but without Fuchs as a centre back lol.

Something like:

Kasper

Morgan; Maguire; Amartey

Albrighton; Drinks; Ndidi; Chilwell

Gray; Mahrez; Vardy

Maybe they need to lube it up a bit!

I was a definite for this but am now undecided. I thought it was £15 but yesterday I found it was £10 for STH  having been to Wolves I'm not sure I'm up for another pre-season game though.

I'm put off by the West Stand only, although I think SK4 and a block in the family stand are open. To invite an established Bundesliga team and only open the one stand is poor. It's just another one of those things the club seems to do that niggle lately.

Yeah. It's definitely the clubs fault fans only wanna go see Real Madrid or Barcelona for pre season friendlies. Some may moan about ticket prices (and I also think £15 for a non Sth is ridiculous! Sth should be free!) but come on. You don't go down to watch Stoke or West Brom in the prem? We should go to support our team.

saying this I am not going....

What's not to like?

Like it. Think we'll see this kind of team quite often away from home, especially against the bigger teams.

M-m-maybe Shakey's been testing out all the tactics he has doubts about, but wanted to test out, you know, for science, and now he's going to bring out the /real/ tactics.

And he'll now motivate the team behind his new plans and they'll jump out the tunnel with determination and urgency on their faces rather than looking like prisoners of war who are paraded out on national television for the purposes  of war time propoganda.

Doubt he'll do it but I'd love Chilwell and Albrighton as wing backs linking up with Slim, Vardy and Mahrez in attack with Ndidi and Iborra protecting the midfield and a central defence of Maguire and whomever else can play in a back three.
