Mahrez to .......................?

Recommended Posts

We could have easily ended up in the Championship with him last year. Mahrez is exceptionally talented, but we rely on one system when he plays. Perhaps we can be more flexible with different personnel.

Well, to all the fans that wanted him gone..it looks like you've got what you wished for. It's going to be thrilling watching a 'try hard' replacement run up and down the wing like a headless chicken with no flare or purpose.. but it's ok as long as he tracks back and has good defensive qualities.?!.

Championship here we come!

That's untrue we don't really rely on him as it's normally a long ball to Vardy

I could definitely take Barca but annoys me they are paying 135m for Dembele and offered similar for coutinho but will get mahrez for 45m

I look forward to the day when people finally stop complaining about transfer fees for other players as opposed to our numbers.

Let's get this out of the way:

Dembélé is 20 years old (six years Mahrez' junior) and a massive talent, his potential is what makes him so valuable. These cases are rare. And it's Barcelona involved. Coutinho is a year younger than Mahrez and has much, much more trophies to his name. Hence why he is worth more also.

You make a valid point but with less than 15 hours of the window left and a management team notorious for being poor at bringing in players on deadline day, what on earth do you propose as a suitable alternative system? We've seen precious little trialling of other formations in pre-season so to me it suggests we've hoped he'd stay all along.

So, it's the fans' fault he is leaving?

Nice bit of revisionist writing there.

Mahrez always wanted a "dream move", we are/were merely a stepping stone.

What trophies has Coutinho won?

Assume that's just Barca giving lpool the hurry up

this is a done deal. He hasn't left the training camp (and will likely miss tomorrow's game) for a club to play politics. The Spanish window closes tomorrow so coutinho will drag on until tomorrow night. Barca won't sign riyad and then find out FSG were bluffing.

I think so too.

Mahrez wouldn't want to put in more decent performances all the way up until late December.

He's had his mind made up (with a little help of a "friend" possibly) that he'd leave Leicester sooner than later.

Him keeping quiet for the past few weeks has little to do with dignity, moreso with not trying to lose more face. Let's make this perfectly clear: It's a dick move to sign a contract (extension) until 2020, then sodding off at the second attempt a year later.
I disagree a bit on the dick move for signing a contract. I can't remember if he had a release clause, he may have done, and we probably removed it in the new contract, which is good for us. Also, the club and Mahrez probably agreed, as has been reported, that he could go if we get the right offer, and that he had to give us one more year. He gave us that year, but played poorly (as did the rest of the team, which didn't help). We've seen him work harder in the last three games... probably to attract the bids he is looking for... And that's what I am frustrated about. He should have performed better last season, and he would have got the £50m bid easily. But we got a poor year out of him, and we'll struggle to get £50m.

Haha what? He has more trophies? Since when does that have anything to do with value. Mahrez has a premier league title, coutinho doesn't. It makes no difference whatsoever. Even in coutinho's best season he never got near mahrez's level in 15/16.

We compare it because the fact he is going for a third of their price is because he plays for Leicester.

As we get overrun in midfield since Kante left, would like us to play 433. Iborra, Ndidi and preferably DD (should he stay). Alternatively, with another decent centre back 352. This worked well under Pearson/Shakespeare last time. Just a thought.

Give me a break. You adapt and build the team around your best players which we failed to do last season.

We had a chance to steady ourselves to be a regular top 10 team last season and we blew it big time. One of the club clubs biggest mistakes

Coutinho has won 1 major trophy in his career, the coppa Italia about 7 years ago and he probably made about 2 appearances.

Yeah he's had a howler there with that statement.

It is what it is, he wants to go, and to date nobody has left.....

Kasper

Simpson Hugh/Wes Harry Fuchs

Gray Ndidi James/Iborra Albrighton

Vardy Slim/ Oka

Plus any signing. Time for Gray to step up......accept he ain't Mahrez but at least three Premier clubs were interested....

nothing lasts forever. Mahrez has been worth the ticket money on his own sometimes.....
