Sublime_Coatsworth Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Mahrez's first half performance was a joke, improved in the second. Shakespeare substation of Iheanacho for James when we were 3-2 up was beyond dumb.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Kasper 7 Simpson 5 Morgan 5 Maguire 7 Fuchs 6 Mahrez 5 James 7 Ndidi 6 Albrighton 6 Okazaki 6 Vardy 8 Amartey 6 Iheanacho N/A Gray N/A Shakespeare 6 - Set us up well but the Iheanacho sub was bizarre. Don't think it cost us the game though.
Vacamion Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Vardy on course for the the golden boot, so 9. Maguire, although part of a defence which leaked 4 goals, 8. Albrighton, 8. Mahrez 6. Simpson 6. Ndidi 6. The rest, meh.... Shakespeare, 7, stay.
Sly Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Joking aside, bizarre sub choice as we should have closed the game out. Thats what having an inexperienced Manager will do for you.
foxinsox Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Jamie 8 Albrighton 7 Shinji 7 Mahrez 4 James 6 Ndidi 5 Fuchs 5 Maguire 7 Morgan 4 Simpson 4 Sub's all 4 Shakey 3. As bad of game management as Spurs at home. Subs bizarre and not needed. King would have been better for James, and Slim for Shinji. Maguire is good on the ball and going forward but too slow to play an offside trap with Morgan, good interplay with Fuchs. Comedy errors by both defences.
kingfox Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Schmeichel(7) - Some good reaction saves in the second half Simpson(7) - Difficult at times but battled well Morgan(6) - Solid in parts but also made mistakes Maguire(7) - Positive performance, but did get caught out a few times Fuchs(7) - Pressed well, very good going forward, defensively a bit suspect Mahrez(4) - Better second half but absolutely fvcking dreadful in the first James(6) - Good to have him back, decent shift, was expected to tire Ndidi(6) - Like James, a decent shift Albrighton(8) - Like a Duracell battery, full of energy, tremendous work rate, some brilliant crosses, MOTM Okazaki(8) - Put himself about superbly in the first half, ran himself into the ground by the second but nonetheless good performance. Vardy(8) - Seems to be on it again, took his goals well. Shakespeare(5) - Those last 10 mins took his rating down from a 8/9 to a bang average 5.
Sampson Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 9 Vardy, Albrighton 7 Okazaki 6 Maguire, Fuchs Probably 5 for the rest

His value drops by the week.

FoxTrott Posted 11 August 2017 Posted 11 August 2017 Mahrez poor. Iheanacho got lost, think the occasion took hold of things a bit too much. Maguire impressive and imposing. Vardy should be made captain. Mike Dean... hates Arsenal.

Would have started grey over Mahrez thought Maguire was excellent and vardy and shinji was good tonight. However if we can score 3 away from home e should score for fun at the KP

In fairness I don't think it was because he wasn't trying, it just wasn't his night. Appeared lightweight and sussed out by the opposition. As for being too good, really good players still manage to play well and shine despite their team mates. He was not good last night.

Bossman Blessed It Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 Kasper - 6 - Made a couple of great stops and ultimately had no chance for their goals. Distribution seemed more clinical this time too. Simpson - 5 - He's getting found out. Couldn't cope with their movement in the slightest and really didn't command the ball enough. Morgan - 3 - Genuinely dreadful. We were all a bit fearful last season that his age would catch up with him and he looked like a lost puppy out there. For Lacazette's goal, he went towards Maguire's man instead of knowing where a £55 million pound striker was. He's 5ft 5 - he shouldn't be allowed to win headers in our box. Maguire - 6 - Some dodgy passes but made some superb blocks, passed it out from the back and looked very composed. Great signing imo and will look even better next to Huth. Fuchs - 6 - Got forward and used his experience very well. He is still a quality left back by all accounts. Mahrez - 4 - Nothing came off for him aside from one ball to Vardy - in fairness, Arsenal were touch tight to him and as soon as the ball landed at his feet he had 3 players around him. Credit to Arsenal for sticking to that as it nullified him completely and I think he'll get a lot more joy against Brighton. James - 6 - Looked decent. Really decent considering it's his first start in 2 years. Got stuck in as well as he could against a team that really makes midfields work. Ndidi - Same as James really - did his job well - would have liked to have seen him venture forward more often. Albrighton - 8 - He will be a real asset this season. His energy was immense and his delivery looked even better than last season. One of our best players easily. Okazaki - 8 - Great to see him score and he won a number of headers. Typical Okazaki performance and it's something Iheanacho will need to learn from. Vardy - 9 - He harried, hassled and hurt Arsenal. Jamie Vardy is truly the gift that keeps on giving. Buried both chances he had comfortably too - looks like he's been working hard over pre-season.
Hammo Posted 12 August 2017 Posted 12 August 2017 Schmeichel 7, Simpson 5, Morgan 5, Maguire 7, Fuchs 6, Albrighton 7, Ndidi 6, James 5, Mahrez 3, Okazaki 7, Vardy 9; Amartey 5; Shakespeare 5 Marks tumbled for most (especially the manager) after what happened in the last eight minutes. NB Vardy - when on song, he is virtually uncontainable Mahrez - his first half rating was a big fat zero James - he was second to the ball on too many occasions. He tried hard enough but the fact is he's too slow (against quality opposition) and always will be. We desperately need some zip and creativity in central midfield.
