Tom Lawrence to Derby - Done

It's interesting how quickly people want to fetishise certain players. Tom Lawrence's turn this time. The four appearance, one good season on loan man.

Wonder who will be next?

The man wanted to play football, contract coming to an end and clearly Shakespeare hasn't seen anything inspirational to give him his shot, which he clearly has done with the likes of Chilwell.

Basically anyone young and doesn't play, instantly people start fapping.

Goes back to the days before this board... Petrescu was the best thing ever, then Wright, Sheehan, Kramaric, Kapustka, Lawrence etc etc etc.

By not playing you never have to show people that you're not good enough and so the myth is born.

Always sad to see a young prospect move on. Wish him all the best and hope we have better players in or coming in. Could have been interesting to see him play if Mahrez left or when Mahrez got benched.

Think he'll do well there, but ultimately was never going to break in here, So the right time to let him go.

Am I right in thinking United had a £12m buyback option on him anyway, or have I dreamt that?

Bit gutted I that I had that Tom Lawrence tattoo.

:P

I know it's not a particularly popular opinion on here, but I want Derby to be promoted.  I miss playing against them in the league and they would be donating their usual gift of 6 points to us.

As such, good luck to him and them.

I think it's more that when other players are playing shit, why aren't they being given a chance?

I'm not saying Lawrence should be starting but there's every chance he could have played a part this season with us struggling in the creative department, and that's without Mahrez and Drinkwater actually leaving considering both are out of form.

He has a chance every day in training to impress and get a start.

if he won't sign a contract then there is no point in keeping him.

You nearly had me believing that for a second  Yeah, very funny.

As for the Lawrence ink, you can get tattoo's removed with lasers nowadays. Good luck

We recruit them - which is hardly the best advertisement either for our judgement in the first place, or our ability to fully develop the talent we have to work with  quite often for many years.

Even from what I saw of the under 23s against Manchester United yesterday I was  not just disappointed but unexcited and that's no advert for any senior coaching set-up.

Our academy is a different story, until we get rid of the likely lads who are bum chums to Rudkin (he needs to go as well) then we'll never produce a conveyor belt of decent youngsters and because of his there's a culture of being reluctant to giving youth a chance. You only have to look at us trying to buy some talent to try and survive in the PL2.

I'm concerned we've loaned out Kapustka, Barnes and sold Lawrence with very little options at number 10 or out wide bar Mahrez, Albrighton and Gray. One of those is desperate to leave, another is struggling to make a name for himself which leaves Albrighton. An injury and we're absolutely fcuked. I hope there's a recall clause on Barnes loan deal but I bet there isn't.

Im not even considering Musa who is also close to leaving from what I have been told. We need a winger and ideally a left footed one.

We bought him, immediately loaned him out for a few seasons, started him in a few pre season games where he looked promising and then sold him before even getting at least once appearance this season? I'd have like to have seen him come on at least once before we sold him. Gray, Albrighton, Mahrez and Musa then with question marks over two hopefully gone.

Musa looked a mile above him preseason, I think people are desperate for the young lads to suceed, too much so sometimes.

You’ve missed some of our other “potential” wonder kids in Ricky Sappleton, Richard Stearman, Louis Dodds, Levi Porter, Patrick Gerrbrand, Peter Canero, Hassan Kaebi, Billy Kee, Hamza Choudray, George Taft .... all gone on to play at the highest level.

Of course, Liam Moore and Sam Cluscas (sp) are the debatable ones!

Lawrence could either become another Kmockaert and find himself in the PL again or he could become another Ben Marshall and become another meh Championship winger.

Good luck to him.

The move makes sense, he'll be a main man at Derby and here, he seemed to be the invisible man. He's definitely going to have something to prove so I can see him doing well.

How is Liam Moore debatable?

Well, terrible penalty aside, he could have been lining up in the Premier League this season.

He’s improved remarkably. We sold him for a fairly low fee.

You could debate if we should have farmed him out on loan to aid his development. He’d be a better 5th / 4th choice than bombscare Benny.

Spot on in every point.

Musa seemed wonderful the previous pre-season too. But dramatically less so when the real football started. His fault or our fault given the publicity concerning his domestic problems. Again I'd ask why did we sign him and did we ever show due diligence in doing so? He seems like another who will join our long list of promising arrivals who failed here...a list which is far too long compared to the successes.
