Arriba Los Zorros Posted 15 August 2017 Posted 15 August 2017 Hmmmm, unsure on this, its always sad to see talent we've nurtured leave. Especially one playing in an area where we need an option. Was he good enough or would he ever be? Maybe so, but if he thinks he's ready now no point in standing in his way and forcing him wait for a chance here. Next get Musa out please.

crisp packet Posted 15 August 2017 Posted 15 August 2017 Hats off to Rudkin 6m + profit on a player we could lose for nothing in 12 months. He's been here years? Hardly played... for a reason Good luck to the lad.

Sign a player for a £1 million quid 3 years later we sell him for £7 million. The value of the players he signed in today's current market is staggering . Reading the first line of your comment... I thought someone was going to have to let you know that Derby had sacked him!
weller54 Posted 15 August 2017 Posted 15 August 2017 Think it's a shame... Young prospect binned... Happens too often.
Farrington fox Posted 15 August 2017 Posted 15 August 2017 I'd say Derby are the ones who got mugged.

Footballwipe Posted 15 August 2017 Posted 15 August 2017 It's interesting how quickly people want to fetishise certain players. Tom Lawrence's turn this time. The four appearance, one good season on loan man. Wonder who will be next? The man wanted to play football, contract coming to an end and clearly Shakespeare hasn't seen anything inspirational to give him his shot, which he clearly has done with the likes of Chilwell.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 15 August 2017 Posted 15 August 2017 I feel he's the kind of player we used to get excited about signing from a Prem club, does well in the Champ but then once we got promoted we realised he wasn't good enough and binned him. Ritchie De Laet springs to mind.

While I do think people get attracted to players who don't play regular - you only have to look at some of the ratings on here for James at the weekend despite the fact Arsenal players were going past him as if he weren't there - but I just think, Lawrence has the potential (doesn't he play for Wales' full team?) and showed at Ipswich all he could do. That was enough, for me, for him to be given a chance here. We lack creativity and goals from midfield - two things he offered a poor Ipswich side. He shone in that Ipswich side too and I think he's a good asset for any Championship side. The management don't think he's good enough, then fair play, but people comparing him to the likes of De Laet? Really? Those players played regular for us in the Premier League side where as Lawrence hasn't really had the chance. There's no comparison with those sort of players. We've made a decent profit on him - though we don't really need the money - and we're no longer stagnating his career further so it's a good move for both. I think he'll do well and become a Premier League player.
Guest Col city fan Posted 15 August 2017 Posted 15 August 2017 Disappointed really as I hoped he would be a good bursting from midfield type player, but like Muzzy. Oh well.

Funnily enough thats what a lot of the sh@ggers fans are saying too ... personally .. I think he will shine in the Championship and help the p1ssoles to get into the playoffs.

There's occasional mistakes but in general - If they're good enough, they play. Gray will find out before too long that he needs to come up with the goods at some point too, hopefully - Or he should be sold too

If your team loses, the players who didn't play are automatically better If you win, they're forgotten
Matt Posted 15 August 2017 Posted 15 August 2017 Feel like we're gonna regret this one, but he's not gonna get a chance anytime soon here so I can understand why he's want the move.
m4DD0gg Posted 15 August 2017 Posted 15 August 2017 Crazy sale, was obvious he was tearing up the championship last year in a crap ipswich team and once again the man in the know has sanctioned the sale. Why cant we bin Rudkin to derby for 7m?
EnglishOxide Posted 15 August 2017 Posted 15 August 2017 Good deal. He was barely going to play, and it looks like we are now confident of Mahrez staying. It's true that he might be worth more in 12 months, but that was unlikely to be as a Leicester player anyway.
Lovejoy Posted 15 August 2017 Posted 15 August 2017 I'm a bit disappointed he's gone, but to get £7m for a lad who's barely kicked a ball in the top flight and had less than a year on his contract isn't that bad. I think he'll be a Prem player at some point, but realistically we couldn't offer him enough game time and he'd have gone for nowt next summer.
