James signs new contract

No way would he get a move upwards at the moment so it makes good sense for him to secure his future here. What comes in the future is undecided but no surprise to see his dedication in getting back to full fitness rewarded by the club.

26 and a four year deal - he perhaps won't start every week going forward but he's a solid option and I'm happy with that.

Good stuff.

Deserves it- he's been through a lot, and he must be delighted that he's back playing regularly. Nice for him to have the financial security of a 4 year contract as well, you can tell the injury is still in his mind when he challenges for the ball sometimes.

A pint from fazzyfox for the physios and surgeons and a couple for James himself, slimline Shandys perhaps, remarkable work and determination. I will still wince every time he goes in for a 50-50 tackle but at the moment it's like having a new signing who doesn't need bedding in time.

Can't work out why we're extending mediocre players contracts and not trying to sign better players. Prepping for the championship or something?

"until 2021"

I thought that's a massive contract but then it took me a while to realise that's a four year contract and its 2017 I still feel it's 2013 ffs

With his injury history, think he is never going to be the player he could of been, looks heavier and slower, but as long as we are not paying him a ridiculous amount, for what is going to be a squad player.

Again it's down to keeping the squad happy, and I think James will accept he's not first choice when everyone is fit, but by a mile id rather have James coming off the bench, than Andy king.

Because they are also assets, his sale value further down the line would probably be as much as his entire contracts cost. It's a no brainer!

Exactly, the contract protects both the club and the player.

I rate him, and always have..dont understand posters who have a doubt over him (other than possible injury doubts).

He is not mediocre, he is above  avg but needs this 1st half of the season to get him, ticking over and upping that potential.

If DD stays, this will add to a good solid squad, who can compete for above  top half of the table, then challenge for

even more.

I still believe we need to play 3 out n out midfielders, Albrighton/Shinji  can play that role,so I still reckon we need

a quality highclass midfielder extra, to move us into regular 4-5 season top 6-8 finishes.

James contract stablises the squad giving possible instant development.

This is a joke.  A very unfunny one.  But a joke.

Shakespeare talks about qualifying for Europe and then signs up Championship players.  Your job is to manage the team. Not to be the players friend and show loyalty to players based on length of service even though they clearly have nothing to offer at this level.

Christ, we were linked with the likes of Sigurdsson and Silva and we end up with Matty f'n James.

And don't even start with how great he was 3 SEASONS AGO because he wasn't great.  And we've won a Premier League since then and supposedly have European ambitions.  He is not good enough.

Seriously regretting hiring Shakespeare now.  No wonder Mahrez wants to leave. And Drinkwater should do absolutely everything he can now to push through that move to Chelsea.

Anyone who supported the club before we were English champions knows the quality Matty James has, Give him game time and he will impress again.

honestly that post has really got under my skin

I've supported the club for 32 years.  What's your point?

My point is you come across as a hostile troll making points like that about a player who paid a key part in our initial championship promotion, and has worked tirelessly to get back into the squadd. you want to write him off because you think we outgrew him? We're still Leicester city FC, he was better than Drinkwater when he was playing. Drinkies just come off a shocking season without kante next to him and you want to knock the player he replaced?

You're the one making yourself look like a joke.

Glad you aren't on the board, you'd fire Shakey and sell Mahrez and Drinky tomorrow.
