The lack of Prem fixtures really hampers rugby clubs. That and not enough Saturday afternoon kick offs.

Like all good things it takes time to build, you have to remember that they were only formed in 2021 (merger with Lichfield ladies) & only went pro in 23/24 season with their introduction into the newly formed PWR.

 

Like women’s football the pool of talent isn’t as wide as the men’s game so it’s always going to take longer to get that squad to resemble something that can compete as anyone who’s anyone will currently want to play for those teams with all the cream, just like in women’s football.

 

Behind the scenes the club are continuing to structure the women’s set up & only this season established a U23 development squad where they can start to build their own talent and hopefully with the success of the men’s team and Tigers name draw some of the top young talent in.

Thought we might have lost that with 15mins to play up until the penalty, then for the 4th try that took some balls to keep it on the pitch and a perfect cross field kick by Freddie 💪 

A lot of big performances both sides but shout out for Hamish Watson who played like he’s been part of the Tigers set up for a while & to complete the full 80 despite not playing much this season was some effort. 👏

Rugby union domestically is on its arse in this country. Anything to try and generate better atmospheres and broaden its appeal is worth a go. The game will never progress while so many Rugby fans cling onto this rosetinted idea of what the sport should be whilst holding this pompous hatred towards anything football related. 

 

Quite a few players have said how much better the atmosphere was in games where there has been an away end. 

 

It's worth noting that are are many people that support the idea, though they probably are in the minority.

There was a decent crowd at Villa park but support for Sarries v Northampton at Tottenham Hotspur stadium is massive for a club game.

Bristol v Quinn’s we’re also well supported at the principality stadium

Been a tremendous afternoon watching rugby. Tigers outstanding and then teo great games after..

 

Thought the villa park crowd was a bit underwhelming. I guess the organisers thought tigers would take many more. Instead it felt like a normal sized home and away Kingsholm crowd 

 

When City are shite,.it's actually really refreshing watching other sports. I remember doing the same 20 years ago in the mid 2000s.
