Continuing the word games a bit longer, how many current English league clubs have exactly three words in their names, not including such add-ons as 'Football Club'?

Just now, The Bear said:

Queens Park Rangers

West Bromwich Albion

Only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

West Ham United

Preston North End

Brighton and Hove Albion is four.

They are officially 'Brighton & Hove Albion'. Do we dismiss the ampersand and call that a 3 worded team?

Yes, I think that there are 6 altogether:- WBA, WHU, PNE, QPR, MKD and FGR. (B&HA doesn't count.)

Dirty Leeds United?

If Scotland's included, there's also Heart of Midlothian (great name for a club imo) and Inverness Caledonian Thistle. (In England, Bradford Park Avenue isn't a league club at present and Rushden and Diamonds no longer exists, otherwise they too could have been included.)

If we look lower down, there's also the club that a certain JV played for - Stocksbridge Park Steels. In the PL, what about Crystal Palace nil?

I think Manchester City do have a reasonable claim to the title ‘City’ on it’s own. Certainly more than we do.

You could be right there.Let’s be honest though, teams ending in City haven’t had the best of luck over the years.

Are Forest Green Rovers still League?  Can't recall.

League 2, in the play-offs at the minute.

This really shouldn’t go in the unpopular opinions thread, but I know most of the thoughts and feelings on here make it unpopular.

I am really proud to see a young Leicester youth graduate scoring a well taken goal in the Champions League Quarter Finals.
Well done Ben Chilwell! Really well taken goal

It could be argued that Lincoln City have first claim to being called 'City'. They were the first club in the league with it in their name. Stoke City, one of the founder members, were just called 'Stoke' until 1925. I'm still wedded to the name Leicester Fosse, being a fossil myself.

I was happy to see him score.

I'm happy to see all our ex players do well apart from Maguire, for some reason.

I hope Spurs win the League Cup.

Although it means a trophy for them, it might mean Man City lose focus on the FA Cup as the quadruple is gone in favour of the Champions League they crave.

Agreed.

Just better in general for different teams to win cups.

I just want Mourinho to win it, because of the disrespect he seems to get these days.
