He seems very angry even for him

Tbf i've been very angry even for me after the last 3 games and I was only making excuse the games before the last 3.

Not felt so angry and disappointed for a few years now (Not even in the Great Escape season did I feel such).

EDIT - Tell a lie, Tottenham end of last season, humiliation, disgrace, but I put that down as a a 'one off'. Seems it was the start of this shite.

He's probably angry because we have gone from winning the league to relegation fodder in two seasons!

Exactly.

True, but it was more pointing the finger and going ape at certain players, I know it was Ndidi for the third but he was doing the same for the first half goals. He's always been bad at handling goals going in but that was another level yesterday.

He needs to set himself up to save free kicks more successfully.  We all knew they'd score when he left most of the goal open.

And he shouldn't be getting beat near post from a header at such a tight angle.

Generally, though, we're poor all over the pitch.  It's not all down to him at all.

First goal he absolutely should have saved, he was lazy in his positioning.

Second goal i thought he should have done far better whilst watching it in the at the stadium as it looked slow motion. Watching it in TV painted a completely different picture though, couldn't believe how much pace Coutinho got into the free kick. Looked completely different.

Agreed, he should have done better for a few goals this season. Those that come to mind are:

Kante for Chelsea

Depoitre for Hudds

Salah yesterday

Rashford at Old Trafford

I agree he has dropped below his usual standards but the free kick yesterday cannot be blamed on him at all. It was a great strike that nestled into the far corner via a slight deflection - it was unsaveable.

His distribution still needs improvement and also he seemed really reluctant to start attacks from throwing it out (except for that poor throw to Albrighton in the second half)

However he is by far our best keeper and he will improve.

First seven games of PL seasons he has conceded

2015/16: 14 goals

btw, how crap was that 15/16 season looking from goals conceded perspective, especially as we only had tough games to play v Spurs and Arsenal at home in those first seven fixtures.

Schlupp and De Laet as your full backs with no Kante in midfield will do that to you. Thankfully, Claudio and the rest of the backroom team found our best XI pretty early and stuck with it.

Kasper's one of my favourite players but he really has started poorly this season. I think there are certain players who can have a few bad games and get away with it because they've earned it over the years but it's fair enough to criticise him now. I'm sure he'll improve soon, he's never really great at the start of any of our prem seasons but gets better as the season progresses.

Can somebody explain why he stands on one side of the goal for the free kick  anticipating the ball to go in that corner and then he struggles to get across every time? It's not the first time he's done it. I remember Burnley at home in the championship in the last minute he did the exact same thing and got caught again. Is it a goal keeping technique? Surely standing in the middle would give you a better option to obtain the ball either side? Maybe I'm missing something?

A) Premier league

B) yes you are - you set your wall to cover one side of the goal and you cover the other. Infact I thought he had himself closer to the centre of the goal yesterday than in the past. You cover one side to deter the taker from going that side. You offer him an open side beyond the wall and you are 90% sure he will go there. If you stood centrally then it would be like a penalty and a competent shot into the two feet near either post would not be saveable without you diving in anticipation (and looking pretty stupid if the ball goes in the middle part of the goal). Covering one side a bit ensures the taker only scores if he is on target and right in the 18 inches near the post and with pace on the ball.

If you dont believe me, go to the park with a few mates and try it out.

If you want to get into a discussion about small gaps in the wall and keeper more centrally stood then thats quite different and hasn't  yet been properly explored imo.

lol If you think he should have got anywhere near Coutinho's free kick then you shouldn't really be talking about whether a save should be made. I don't get why keepers set a wall up for anything 25+ yards out to be honest, but that was a hell of a free kick.

The Kante goal, he's anticipating that it's gonna hit Morata or Maguire, somehow neither of them made contact with the ball, by the time he can readjust it's already gone.

Huddersfield I think he'd be slightly disappointed with, but it's been hit well and into the corner.

He has no pressure bar his own pride for the first team spot so I guess he will have periods where by his own standards he declines a little.

Still puzzled why we got in another keeper who falls short of Hamer :dunno:

Is it a stupid suggestion that men on the post for free kicks could help out the keeper?

Takes offside out of the equation though - the opposition could then just put their biggest player in front of the goalkeeper.

All the goals he has let in were all actually good finishes.  We have been that accustomed to him  pulling over ridiculously good saves over the past 2 seasons to keep us in games, that when he does let one in, we criticize him!

Salah's header had no pace on it and should have been saved, Kante's daisy cutter was one of those you normally don't have to dive for you simply step across and pick it up

Kante's was about an inch off hitting the post (so right in the corner) and came through bodies, and Salah put his header in the only place the Kasper couldn't reach it.

I think there's a case of him being partially at fault for all three yesterday. Didn't get near the third either.

He's awful at free kicks and always has been. No side concedes more of them than us, I'm convinced.
