Assuming he's still available if/when they can Shakespeare, they'd still have the 1 obvious merry-go-round choice left, one who'd definitely sign up - Allardyce.

I have no doubt what so ever that Allardyce would keep us up but my biggest fear is that we become one of those clubs who is happy to do just that every year and I really think we ought to be aiming for more.

 

I think that's a way you'd possibly keep Shakespeare at the club too, although having given that some thought I'm starting to wonder if he commands any respect at all. We may have tainted it with him for good.

We need to look deeper than just replacing the manager.

 

We will not move forward or even tread water with some of the current personnel at the club, we need upgrades and an overhaul.

Rafa Benitez wants out at Newcastle because of Mike Ashley, whether we could get him out in season maybe problematic, as he would have to initiate the move contractually speaking.

 

So we may have to settle for a free agent so to speak; fact is we need experience; would Sam Allardyce / Hiddink be interested until the end of the season?

Completely in agreement.  I suspect that Shakey (though I never warmed up to him), is merely a scapegoat for bigger systemic problems with the club.  Wouldn't be surprised if Rudkin brings someone in to save his job.  

 

I'd be happy with Rafa, but I think that's unlikely since he keeps his promises to teams.  I think we've lost the opportunity earlier this year for the good ones.  The only person right now is Ancelotti, I hope we ask.

Someone who isn’t afraid to make tough decision with the squad and has at least some tactical ability. It’s obvious now that Shakespeare has none of the above qualities needed to move us forward.

I'm not quite at the point of wanting a change just yet, but Chris Wilder would get my vote. Most in PL jobs wouldn't consider it. Tuchel is renowned as a tosser so can't see that working.

You go for a Big Sam esque manager - you in effect having more of the same. There will be a bounce and then level off. 

 

You go for someone who wants to change style then it will be difficult to attract anyone because you are in the season and the manager won't have time to refresh the squad.

Either way we need a change, we are definitely in a relegation battle the players look bemused on the pitch. 

 

I suspect some some of them cannot be bothered or have lost respect with Shakey.

Get in a better DOF too, so that they can work together to find players (ie not overspending).

 

At least Howe will play good football and it'll be fast and attacking.
