If we could have gotten a decent manager we wouldn't have settled for Shakey for this year. We reached out and got nothing. Accept it we're not as interesting as some make out. This is the problem half the fans think we're big time, when we're only really on par with bottom half of the table.
Chico1958 Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 I'd like him back to........... But he's still a nob

Had we somehow knicked the win yesterday then Shakespeare should still be sacked, because it would have just papered over the cracks. We need to see even a hint of tactical nouse and motivational ability from him. We need to see a manager who sets up to best make use of the squad we've got, not shoe-horn them in to a formation that doesn't suit, and a manager who can actually get a team to start a match. If we scum our way to 5 wins without changing a thing, we'd just be back in this position a month or two later.

hackenbacker Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 Tony Popovic has just quit the Western Sydney Wanders ... I think Spider Kalac once played for them .. it's written in the stars
Chico1958 Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 Just for the record....................... Nantes up to Third You know Nantes that massive club in France who are currently managed by an ex LCFC Manager For the life of me, I can't remember his name. Be careful what you wish for people

I think I said Wagner or Silva in the previous message buddy The rest was tongue in cheek, for me at the moment I'm hungover and peed off But like everything, sooner or later it gets better........... Hopefully

I'd like him too but Ashley's doing a deal with the Chinese, which if it works out would see Ashley gone and a huge wedge of cash for Benetez (personally and for players). Doubt he'd leave until that's resolved - one way or another

That's not completely true. As I've said before; his second years, after a good first, usually come when he makes mediocre team overachieve. Most of his teams and Teams he's has more time have done fairly well...at Chelsea he got them second place (he was sacked) and probably set them up for the following year prem title. His second year at Monaco, he was second in the league (after getting them out of league two), and was sacked for that. He did the same with a relegated Juventus, and was fired for getting them to third place in serie A (also sacked for that). If getting second and third on his second year of managing is bad (which is most of his stats!) I don't know WTF you types are looking for! Just shows own how much all of us are influenced by shit British sportswriters! Total Batshit!
Guest Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 what about that guy who has taken no-hopers to 3rd in La Ligue 1 behind PSG and Monaco?

Total Batshit! if I had written 'great first season or two' then you wouldn't have had much to argue about, the point is that Claudio has a v v good record of coming into a club and getting them to over achieve (or at least to reach the level they should be at). Once that has been done, it tends to plateau v quickly or in fact drop off to an extent where he is dismissed. I'm sure you will have evidence, if it exists, where he has got the first season/2 season bounce and then had the drop off and stayed long enough to take his team back up again. im not looking to diss the fellow - he is, for obvious reasons, my all time favourite lcfc manager. However, when you lose the plot it's time to go and the owners clearly felt that was the case. (As they did with Nige)
Trav Le Bleu Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 and so many in here were saying that Shakespeare was a no-brainer when we were previously searching for a manager.

You've got stones to suggest that here, when most on foxestalk still believe Ranieri got "lucky" or was set up by Pearson to succeed.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 Rodgers doesn't appeal to me at all. Howe I'd consider but still but unsure about him. Maybe we missed the boat in getting a Marco Silva in? Doing well at Watford. There's no one realistic I would say YES to definitely if offered right now
Izzy Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 Warnock is doing a great job at Cardiff at the moment. Just saying...

Grebfromgrebland Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 I don't think the board have any real respect for Shakespeare, every time he's asked a question on most things his answer is 'I don't know, have you heard anything?' or 'I didn't want that to happen'. Not only is he not in control he's not even kept in the loop, he is by all accounts still the coach but this time he has to pick the team too. I also wish he'd stop being so boring when interviewed! When he's asked a question he goes on a long ramble about how to be a good manager etc when a simple yes or no would suffice. It's agonising when as he's only been in the job 2 minutes and we're playing crap yet he goes on like he won everything there is to win and he's passing on little known wisdom to the journalist.
