Shooting in Las Vegas

Like a few others on here, I've always imagined myself ending up in the US one day. Maybe North Carolina or Florida (for the golf)

When we got back from Orlando in August, I had a look at a forum ran by ex pats living over there. They'd listed 20 reasons why not to emigrate to Florida and right at the top was gun crime. They mentioned that many gun related incidents are not reported because of the fear of putting tourists off going to the region.

Along with hurricanes, bent politicians, crap schooling, unbearable humidity and residents who are mainly stupid people in general, I must admit I'm not as keen on the idea now.

Anyway, this thread gives me yet another reason to post this by the brilliant Jim Jefferies who absolutely nails it for me...

It's not guns that kill, it's bullets.

Let Americans keep their guns, but take away the bullets.

Sorted!

If only it were so simple. :(

As he allegedly had ten suitcases on his hotel room containing guns, surely he had an accomplice to help him get them up to his high-level hotel room?

Would've thought hotel staff would've been suspicious in seeing him going up and down, back through hotel reception etc with another and different suitcase..

Thus don't believe he 'prepared it all' for himself at this moment.

Trump's rather laid-back attitude towards gun laws when questioned earlier was got me the most; "Maybe we'll discuss about it when time goes by" - sounding as if it's not a high-priority for him as president currently, despite this tragic situation, and it's that attitude being the reason that nothing is being done to change the stance on gun laws over there and increasing the threat of yet another US tragic gunfire incident occuring..

Reminds me of the Chris Rock bit on bullet control

Makes you appreciate how lucky we have it here really.

As much as we bitch and moan, there aren't stacks of places I'd rather live in the world than the UK.

The Scandis might have it a pinch better perhaps but their cost of living is a tad high.

But our politics are moderate, our weather is moderate, we've crazy personal freedoms, press freedoms, no scary animals, no tectonic plates, no food shortages and corruption.

I mean it's not perfect, we've got problems, but you look at Asia, Africa, the Americas, bits of Eastern Europe - even some of the barmy shit that cracks off in Italy, France and Spain.

We don't know how good we've got it sometimes.

Yeah but Andy king is our most decorated footballer and iheanacho’s career is going backwards so it’s not all rosy pal

Gun law is America is like the NHS here.

Everyone knows it needs looking at, people, politicians and those in power.

But its it's a massive vote loser. Which is why people won't touch it with a Shitty stick.

I doubt anyone would be suspicious about a man walking about with suitcases in Vegas. The hotels are so big you probably wouldn't even notice the bloke, or he could take different entrances.

5 trips, two suitcases at a time using the lifts, piece of piss. Being a fairly high roller he probably had some of them taken to his room.

You can turn up with twenty giant cases at a place like the Mandalay Bay and no one would bat an eyelid, you could drop it at the door and it would be in your room within five minutes, I stayed in one of the suites there (I'd like to find the paperwork now to see if it's the actual one the shooting occured in as we faced the strip from a high position) and the service is incredible, they had bell boys on every floor to answer room service calls.

A bit of luggage is no bother whatsoever, as would walking through time and time again, you don't realise how big these hotels are until you have been.

Yeah I can imagine how easy this must've been for him, bellboys and those huge trollies that get filled with luggage, they'd easily cope with several disguised cases of weapons. I suspect checking in at Las Vegas hotels will radically change now however.

It would be a great shame but I suspect you are right. One of the best things about Vegas is how laid back it is, you could leave your clothes outside your room to be picked up and wander around doing whatever you wanted without a care in the World.

This guy has probably now ruined it for everyone.

Yeah, I stayed in a suite at the Venetian I could have walked in with 100 strippers, 100 suitcase and nobody would have said a dicky bird. It's Vegas, all sorts of shit goes down... that's what it's all about.

Plus, even if someone did notice his and his guns. It's not even illegal until the moment he smashed a window and started shooting.

I read something those windows are hurricane proof so how the **** does he break a window like that? Oh not to mention disabling secuirty systems in a CASINO and installing his own cameras etc....

Not sure how many hurricanes there are in Vegas to put that to the test ha. Bullet proof and hurricane proof are different things anywayand exert different pressures etc. He could have shot them out with the arsenal he had.

Not read into the security stuff, only saw that he'd put his own cameras up, which is easy enough.

100 % nothing about this adds up.

If he was on the 32nd floor why is there video of muzzle flashes from the 4th and 10th floor. There was multiple shooters and this guy was killed and set up.

Was there anyone behind the grassy knoll?

I've only seen videos of a supposed muzzle flash on the 4th floor, this is the first time I've heard about one on the tenth.  In any case it's obviously not a muzzle flash, just a random light flashing continuously even when no shots were being fired.
