[OFFICIAL] Claude Puel is the new manager for Leicester City

Not a particularly exciting choice but he looks stable and we could have done far worse.

I think the positives are he is apparently very much his own man and the club needs fresh blood to come in with a clean slate and shake up the dressing room a bit. He's also won the French league and got an unfancied side in Lyon to the Champions League SF. All in all I'm quite positive about the appointment.

Has he been appointed weeks ago, he said on radio that he's watched 5 games of Leicester......could be on video of course, or he could have been asked to consider the post weeks ago, if that is the case my respect for the owners has just taken a massive nosedive.

Just don't think he was the owner's first-choice, but got him after someone probably rejected talks and Puel was/is seen as a safe option.

All business men have a back up plan, better then being unprepared.

Just like when they appointed Shakey? (at least it shows they learned something), but that still makes them backstabbing snakes......I hope they have started the interviewing process for Puels replacement, don't feel good about this, although it's somewhat better than a Dyche appointment imo.

Quite.

How dare those Soton fans expect and demand entertainment for their hard earned money. Why don’t they know their place? Why don’t they accept whatever crumbs are thrown in their direction by their betters?

And how dare Leicester fans not be overjoyed with a man renowned for and synonymous with negative defensive tactics. Know your place as well. Scum. Subhuman scum.

Quite. How I yearned for expansive, free flowing goal fests during that run of one nils when we won the league. Or under O'Neill. Hell I only count one league cup triumph - kamarck man marking juninho? What were we thinking?

Each to there own. But I know which I prefer.

That would fill me with confidence that the hierarchy at the club are proactive.

I think any well run club should have some idea who the next manager will be in the event the current manager leaves for a better offer or needs sacking. Much better than recklessly sacking Shakey and start thinking who should be manager the next day.

He likes football - it’s his life tbh. He watches live matches on tv like most of us do

arsenal, yanited, Liverpool and West Brom were all televised live in France so he would likely watch them whatever

Then Swansea at the weekend knowing he was probably getting the gig

No need for over analysis I’m afraid

Oh dear ..................... you think so?  I still like my Rafa theory

Just don't understand this attitude. How can something be a dreadful decision when you have literally no evidence it is a) a dreadful decision and b) will be a dreadful decision?

Just my opinion, but judging by a lot of posts on here it's quite a popular opinion. Time will tell and I will take no satisfaction if my opinion of it being a dreadful decision turns out to be correct. Either that or my opinion is just dreadful.lol

I think Ben Arfa coming here is almost nailed on. PSG will want him off their wage bill so loaning him for the rest of the season is almost inevitable. Puel is the only coach that managed to get consitency out of him when he was lethal.

We don't need him given that we have Mahrez, but I think we'll see him here!

This is a great appointment for us. Probably the best appointment we have made since Nigel Pearson in 2008.

A manager who has always improved every club he has been at. Known for encouraging youth. Decent eye for a player. Decent tactician. What is their not to like.

Good luck Claude.

French football fans on the L'Equipe page wish Puel well at Leicester, there's only a few who criticize his management style ("too rigid, not very close with players").

Many can see Hatem Ben Arfa thrown into the mix comes January... [emoji3]

Agree.
Can see RM leaving and Ben Arfa coming here.
At least he's got better man management skills than Pardew!

Careful what you wish for, I think Ben Arfa is a very odd character with a long history as a troublemaker and cannot be managed, except by... Puel.

Ben Arfa hasn't played pro football in half a year after falling out with Unai Emery.

Wonder whether Ben Arfa is able to complement Mahrez on opposing wings. But Ben Arfa's mostly been playing as an attacking midfielder up until April, so could add something with Mahrez still in the team.

Right to be cautious. Could end in disaster but if it works a front 3 of RM, Vardy and Ben Arfa could be brilliant!
As good as Glover, Wortho and Weller?

I wouldn't be happy. The guy is a walking "dressing room disaster".
