A problem seems to be the public footpath that runs across the course but this has not stopped provisional plans being drawn up. No planning permission has been lodged for any of this either so even if prelim discussions have taken place, it would still be a long way off. Still waiting on the stadium expansion. So lengthy.

moseeds Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 I wonder if the training ground move involves disposing of the current stadium site as well for a 'modern' purpose built complex? Just a thought.
smiggy6773 Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 Great news this is, very positive....don't let Peter Soulsby have a say, there'll be roadworks / cycle lanes / bus lanes / parking meters causing havoc like the city centre

The club will be paying for all forest hill members first year membership at a new golf club of their choice I believe. 1

I think if we can get a respectable finish and Europe via a cup they'll be looking at stadium expansion aswell. No pressure, Claude.. How else do we get into Europe besides top 6? please don’t think I’m taking the piss, I’m not, I genuinely didn’t know we could gain European football via cups.
dynamark Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 Bert the members don't know that. Just made a couple of calls and it was a definite no a couple of weeks ago partly because they also want a large chunk of farmland to the north and that wasn't forthcoming. Now that makes a bit of sense as that farmland is good flat land for possible 18 pitches. The golf club part gives the basis of the buildings and car parking for the facility The bridle way through the middle is a 2000 year old parish boundary maintained by the county council as a cycle path and bridle way.Part of the golf course would be retained. However a friend was working up there on sunday and a certain helicopter did a circuit plus one of the owners was out on a buggy with a smartly dressed gent.He was asked directly and still said no more to report. So not dead and the flat land further up gives it legs starting to get very irritated and I was be personally very very pixxed with the Thais .
SemperEadem Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 Would feel a little sad leaving Belvoir Drive. Lots of history in the place.

dynamark Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 There are plenty of folk who will be sad to leave FHGC staff and golfers alike.Like a family for 25 years. The Sparsis family will get ran out of town. Nothing gets is the way of the football club money and power? Long way to go yet though I could always chain myself to the fence. 1

Heard quite recently that the golf club was struggling a bit financially?

Really positive news that we are potenially investing but this in itself does not guarantee that we will follow the Spurs and Man City sucess story....

Winning the League Cup and FA Cup are two routes. Some other strange scenarios can occur too, for example if the League Cup winner finished 6th and the FA Cup winner finished 7th then 8th place in the league would get Europa League qualification. Not sure on the runners up rules anymore, UEFA changed it for the FA Cup so that if the winner has already qualified for Europe it reverts to league positioning rather than loser of the cup final. 1

I think just any advancement would be worthwhile. When your new manager is making a point of saying the training ground isn't really fit for purpose it's clearly time to change things. Having seen the absolute state of the gym at the training ground it's an absolute miracle our fitness has been so good last few seasons. 1

True.....but i doubt the new manager would be making such remaraks before hes even got his feet under the table unless he knew the owners shared the same view. Cant imagine his new bosses would have viewed that remark very favourably from a new employee - unless he already knew something we dont..?!? However, i dont wish to be negtaive about such a positive development as investing in a new trabing facility would be great for the club and its ambitions. I just wanted to caution that for every Man City and Spurs, there is equally a Sunderland and Aston Villa if not everything is done correctly. (PS We managed to win the PL from the "not-fit-for-purpose" Belvoir Drive training base so not sure what else Mr Puel has in mind?)

Last time I mentioned this, you claimed it was smoke and mirrors,in fact you promised to run round the KP naked if it happened so if you're looking for sponsors for the Foxes Foundation let me know! Seriously though, this would be the third course in the area to close recently.More players than courses is bad news for all players.

They're both pretty big facilities though Man City have dedicated small stadiums for their academy and women's teams; I'd imagine we'll go for something smaller but something that will benefit and help expand the academy and possibly bring the women's team into the fold. Exciting times indeed. They don't want anything smaller than anyone else they want bigger

Always sad for the members to lose a well loved facility but this may help others to survive. 1
Bob Hazels shorts Posted 1 November 2017 Posted 1 November 2017 Gary the chef can now take a gentle walk and be their in 5 mins. Not sure if thats a reason for the club to not move on.
dynamark Posted 2 November 2017 Posted 2 November 2017 John you are so correct -with my new hip installed I can now run around the KP naked if required. I'm pretty close in but it seems the flat land further up is the key.The course land itself is never ever going to be the basis of a training centre and numerous pitches. Wymy if they are not making money now they never will.Recently Western Park,Breedon and Kings at Mkt Bos all closed down and loads of new golfers at FHGC.Place is packed and function room well booked. But this sort of speculation will do the business no good at all .Staff will walk, members look to move and bookings decrease. If its on its been badly handled,Similar situations have involved a new course of club being built as a part of the deal(Westliegh rugby club as a recent example). But this is a privately owned business and if the family want to sell and walk they are entitled to do so. Its a very well used facility in a great catchment area and as said its not just somewhere to play a round of golf. Its a club with a history and identity bit like LCFC ?Many life long friendships and memories. One last point getting permission for something of this scale in that location will be a long drawn out process.Partly in the National Forest so they will want a say, ecologocal surveys, protected plants and so on,highways,Hinckley council .loads of private objectors, loss of amenity, etc. There is a piece of land where the golf is not played due to a rare plant and another spot where a green was to go but stopped because of some historic remains found. If King Power were to drive out say Coalville way or up the six hills road find a nice flat piece of land maybe an old airfield or similar they would get full support. Long long way to go yet.
