Huth is a better player the Morgan and I think like most Maguire will look far better alongside Huth

I did once think that but Morgan hasn't been bad all season.

However, we should be looking to get in a better centre back than both to play alongside Maguire. And I think Puel will. Maguire can play football so I think Puel will look at that sort of centre half, which will be good.

Pearson gave his players extensions because we got promoted didn't he? As a reward. I agree with that.

Was got an extra year that really wasn't needed.

But to say "oh well Huth was great two years ago give him an extension". Not for me. I'd rather a younger replacement come in or a younger player step up from the youth team or whatever.

I'm not saying everyone is automatically going to get one, it's for the manager to decide based on what they are like to have around, fitness at the time, what the state of the squad is. But some players will get a contract that's perhaps not completely warranted, for reasons that aren't just based on whether they make the 18 every week.

Well he’s at 68 now so there’s no way he’ll make 100 before the  summer if thats true

100 in total. not just league appearances. He's on 90 something.

Ah right well that makes 79 in all competitions not including his 14 when on loan unless they’ve included them

Dunno why people keep asking for Huth back. He's no improvement on Morgan or Maguire now. Morgan has been decent enough this season as has Maguire.

James won't get near the first 11. The decision to give him a 4 year deal was stupid. I said in the summer we should be looking to offload if someone offers a decent price - and it was Derby who were linked at the time.

Huth organises a defence much better than Morgan, Maguire will learn more from him than from Morgan.

Morgan was rubbish before Huth turned up, even in his first game after 20 minutes Huth stopped passing to Morgan.

This sounds weird to say but Morgan is a better passer than Huth. Huth is a great organiser and proper defender but his composure on the ball is abysmal. He is a much bigger hoofball merchant than Morgan is.

Seeing as Huth is 33 and Morgan is 34 in Jan, I'm not sure we should rely on either of them.

James is 27. He can still work in the squad, if he can clear his bad injury cycle.Maybe they have said...with his recent new contract,

That they will give him longer to recover. With Huth bad injury and recuperation, Maguire /Drago has allowed Shakespeare , now Puel

not to panic.

Even if Silva turns out to be that top investment we hope, and we see a middfield of....Silva, Ibororra Ndidi.

We need Back  up, for replacements and competition, then a substitute and fring players turn around.

I see no reason, why James, Huth , King, Amartey, with long runs from present staff cant be still kept on the books.

These next 2 seasons, Amartey and James can still make their mark.Huth a known and a damn good back up.

Looking at a couple of hopefulls like keane and others mentioned on this forum, so far part of our non-action,

hasnt been too negative.  This 'get rid', good riddance attitude on this forum, has seen more teams relegated than not

We cant afford like some, to have real big names on the bench, or on the terraces, so we need these types edging the

forefront, and in the background when necessary...Ditching these type, and proven players would be foolish at this time.

I agree with these sentiments. It is very difficult for a club our size, one not playing in Europe and not likely to be anytime soon, to maintain a bench of high class international players. If top pedigree players come to Leicester, they come to play regular football and if they don't get that they'll soon want out. To slate players who don't complain too much about being on the bench and who, okay are not top notch, is very unrealistic. We might aspire to better ourselves but players like King, Huth, James (when fully fit) and Amartey are serviceable subs util the end of the season at least.

You see!! , that what makes a forum, I see Huth a better passer. I have recently looked at past games, and

it actually looks more equal, than expected both in attack mode or passing not Hoofing the ball upfield (which they both do).

Morgan so far has had a good 2017/18  start. To be fair I havent seen in bottom 16, too many better, than

Morgan and Huth(Of old). That said...We are and have been disorganised at corners, and set pieces for a long time.

Including PL title season. Clean up that muddle, Puel would gain 11-16pts in a  season.

SO , we known we could and should improve that area. I want to see us be more consequent, descisive, and organised

play when defending our box. The Gks have to put that extra 20% more into their  penalty area - 6yard box control.

I want to see more voice and command being taken, plus I would like now see more of Drago, in the PL, see what he can

offer.  Its not about dropping someone but trying out something new and   somenody else...

A Maguire Drago set up wont make us implode, so why not try it.

Club captain should soon also be on the agenda.Though to be honest I dont see too many ready

to step up...I only see Maguire, but other posters could come up with their opinions.

Morgan was a good club and team spokesman. I like Schmeichel, but I prefer outfield-players to carry

that honour.  If James had not his injury-history and had realised his potential, he would of been my favourite.

Thats now accademic.....Unless he get a consistent clean bill of health and a high performance end of the season.

We're very close to having a complete 'why are they still here?' XI

Hamer/Jakupovic

Amartey

Benalouane

Dragovic

King

James

Slimani

Ulloa

Musa

Mendy and Kaputska are technically still 'here'.

Do they count towards your full X1?

Add ...Mendy...Kapu...and the young Moore, plus Nacho for fun...

Could be a good PL mid-table team, pushing the present one by 3-5pts per season...

Why are they still here? Because they are squad members. We can’t just have a team of 11. Hamer, The Dragon, Kingy, Slimmo are all regularly on the bench and have all had game time and some are an 1st 11 injury away from being starters. It’s the same at every premier league club.

Can see him falling behind Hamza in the pecking order...Claude I feel will rather hand chances to the younger players who he can train on and mould...a 26 year old Matty James isn't really going to improve. He's served us well and his return to fitness is a great story but he shouldn't be anywhere near our first team, and surely he doesn't want to hang around for the odd sub appearance and a few starts in the cups.

James is still an excellent backup once we have our preferred 3 CMs

Huth I guess depends if we decide to keep Dragovic post loan. Huth was sighted on tunnel cam today, at least.

It wouldn't  surprise me if neither of them played for us again . As previously mentioned by others Huths contract expires in the summer and it has been rumoured for a while that his ankles are shot . Matty James is like an exspensive kit car,  he’s ok for one or two outings but then after doing a few miles bits start to come lose or drop off before breaking down completely.  Which ends with spending ages in the garage because they can’t get the parts or know how to fix it . Add to this Puel is wanting to put his stamp on the squad free some spaces for players coming in and he has no loyalties to either player . I’m not saying I want this to happen but I have a feeling there will be a clear out of players

Maguire and Huth would be the slowest defence possible.

I think Huth orangises a defence better but Morgan has that bit of pace Maguire misses.

We need a new centre half to play alongside Maguire, that's it.
