If this was the Man City forum they would foaming at the mouth yelling conspiracy against them from refs, media, FA and UEFA.

Nonsense he bent his knee, lifted his foot in the air to simulate having his legs taken from him. He dived.

Not sure Ndidi's first warranted a yellow but he performed well on the whole.

Ndidis first was innocuous but came immediately after he had booked benteke (their first one) - I think it was a subconscious evening up.  Otherwise my only gripe about the officials was where I think vardy went to head a goal kick and the defender jumped behind him with his elbow down on vardy's shoulder... this was dangerous and a foul   Too much of that.  The big decisions were correct.  We lost because were  were not competitive.

That's exactly my point lol that we are not a conspiracy fuelled bunch like they are. We don't blame a 3-0 defeat on the ref.

Agreed.

Listen, I'm someone who always gets on refs backs, moans when they make shit decisions - They need help.

But i'm not gonna sit here and make excuses for us being shit and blame other people or reasons.

So why the accentuation - he could have just stumbled to the floor

You expect to get more of the 50/50 decisions at home but there is no rule to say you should

sadly, as posted above Atkinson was far and away better than we were today !!!

Martin Atkinson refereed the game well.

He actually on 2nd reflection could have easily given palace a penalty and other than that was correct in all the major decisions he made today.

There is no legitimate criticism of his performance as it was one of the best and fairest refereeing displays in one of our matches this season.

Brilliant refereeing display shame there isnt any consistency throughout the League though.

Couldn't agree more.  He got the major decisions correct but on another day we would have had a goal and a penalty!

As I've said in the post match thread my annoyance with the booking of Ndidi for the dive stems from the fact that by contrast with punishing Wilf for his only dive, Atkinson took no action against repeated obvious diving by Zaha. It seems like the refs are clamping down on dives in the penalty area but nowhere else on the pitch.

As for the Iborra push, it probably was one but you often get away with that stuff e.g. Slimani before heading home v Sunderland at home last season.

If the Simpson yellow is a booking then tackling has been officially outlawed.

i have a few gripes with him today, in the fact Zaha was clearly going down pretty easy and one he should have been booked for in the second half for me, and always Zaha had a bit of a niggle at Simpson in the second half atfer Simpson had cleared the ball(2nd half too)

he was a bit inconsistent for me,

I thought Ndidi was rather unlucky - not in terms the refereeing decision, but how the events unfolded - because;

• A fraction of a second before he falls to the ground, there is significant contact from behind on his back foot

• The other palace defender does dangle an ill-advised leg to trip over

• I suspect the contact Ndidi had is in mind, as well as the sight of the dangled leg

• Problem for Ndidi is this is happening in relative slow motion, so by the time he decides to ‘take the contact’ the dangled leg is being withdrawn and he is made to look silly, booked for a second time and sent off.

In terms of refereeing performance - I felt Atkinson had lost a bit of composure with the spate of bookings immediately after halftime. In my opinion Ndidi’s first yellow was given mainly because he’d shown a yellow to a Palace player only seconds earlier... but to try and apportion any blame this way overlooks our own deficiencies and attitude today.

I still think Iborra's goal should have stood. There really wasn't much in that. You see those given week in, week out.

Yep. 10 minutes later we had a corner; dann leaned into Morgan and nudges him off balance as he attempts the header. If you're consistent either it's a goal and no penalty, or no goal and a penalty.

I'd prefer the former - there's no point in set pieces even existing if slight physicality gets pulled up.

Ndidi dived, but so did Zaha. How he didn't get sent off for three clear dives and a lunge at Simpson I don't know.

Ok then. It was the refs fault.

No, it blatantly wasnt.

Key differences - Tomkins immediately stopped and looked to the referee to give the foul... plus the fact it was a more obvious foul

So basically Morgan should have just stopped and ignored the header, then it would have been a penalty? Nah. A fouls a foul whether the fouled party tries to play on or not.

Possibly - why do players go to ground? To attract the attention of the referee. When a player Trieste to stay on their feet, invarouably they don’t get the decision.
